Great tip i just discovered, if you want to learn to listen to the pacenotes, just drive without lights in the night

I literally did that, in an Australian stage, both lights broken, at night. I made it through just listening and turning.

Great vid. Going to pay more attention now. When I first started I thought Phil said Titans, like some sort of rally term. However I thought tightens meant the road wasn't as wide. -Tsunami

Just a note, you might already know by now: The number before the turn also signifies the gear you should take it in. So 5 right means you should be in 5th gear, and so on. I’m very new to the rally world so when I first started playing I had no idea what any of the calls meant, I really thought he was saying “Titans 4” and was like “wtf does a titan mean”. This guide really helped out!
@RoadsideTV08
@RoadsideTV08 4 жыл бұрын
The notes were written that way and they were made using the Mini Cooper, so the numbers will not translate to which gear across all cars, and this is also dependent on gear ratios
@Ghostsoulless
@Ghostsoulless 4 жыл бұрын
@@RoadsideTV08 That makes sense. I watched another guide before yours and it was a guy involved in the actual Dirt 2 pace notes and he said that about gears, but now that I think about it that doesn’t make much sense with the vast difference between the slowest and fastest cars.

Some cars have gears higher than 6 like that Ford class A from dr2. How will I impliment this strat?
@agustin8160
@agustin8160 Жыл бұрын
@@bacon_man21 You will have to pay attention, if you are taking almost every *6 Right* on 7th gear then that would be the reference more or less Same if you take a *3 Left* on 4th gear then thats the reference and so on

@user-nj6bt5gy4s 11 ай бұрын
@@agustin8160 I also thought that when playing the game but I also took it as some sort of identifier of whether the turn is easier or sharper. 5 and 6 being easy turn ins, 4 and 3 slighty sharper, and 2 and 1 being incredibly sharp. Something like that. edit: looks like the video mentions the same idea lol

Great explanation of driving technique here... but you may want to look at a longer version over on Team O'Neals channel Sorry not trying to plug other KZbinrs but they go in to great detail about all of this and could even give this channel some ideas on how to show some of there examples in-game on here

When it goes really fast I have trouble translating the directions fast enough on new tracks. English is only a second language for me. I guess I am so concentrated on watching where I am going I miss notes. I am like did he say a right 1 of a right 4? Crashing in spectacular manner. When a course is played a few times you know what is coming but that's not how rally driving is done, I already turned the visual left & right of for some time now. Also when playing longer it gets worse. After an hour or two I go rally crossing to recover. And try again later. I am at pro level now

@@ggrethaveall5088 you have more time to prepare and you don't wanna hear "tigthens 3" in middle of the corner ;) I have set them as early as possible, but in scotland co-driver is way too slow, last time I drove there with audi quttro and I was 2 corners before actual calls what was annoying...
@SendNubes96

I have a few comments. An acute corner in my mind would be like a 45 degree angle. Because hairpins I do believe are technically going to turn you around 180 degrees. So if you're driving due north after the HP you should be going south. Whereas the acute will have you going south- east or, even south, south-east.

It doesn't work for all cars, the notes were written using the old school Mini Cooper, so on the more modern cars you can take 4s in 5th or 6th gear.

New Zealand you can actually set it lower than you'd think because it's a fairly flat smooth surface, what height specifically can range from car to car, but you can set it lower.

There are plenty of other videos out there that go much more in depth into every single call, however I decided to only really talk about the numbers since that was the most common question I got. Also, if it makes you feel any better this was my lowest effort video out of all of them and is the one I'm least proud of.

@@RoadsideTV08 I am not a native English speaker, thats why I still don't understand what examples like Tightens over crest means, and specifically "Over Crest", which for me is just equal to "Caution" because I know its something bad but no idea what specifically it is. Or other one "3 Right, keep in or into the crest -> opens", what means "Keep into the Crest -> Opens" -> I am just slowing down because again no idea whats going on with that note :D.
