Dirt bike channel has a 15k ev dirt bike and his went from 51% battery to limp mode in 8 minutes and it almost caused him to crash when limp mode was enabled

The stark varg e dirtbike has max 6 hours of ride time if you’re not going hard but the range is usually 50 miles, 80hp, and can charge in 1-2 hours. The only con to this bike would be the charging time and range, but it’s not too far under normal dirtbikes anyway. In the next 5-10 years they will probably be on par or even surpass gas dirtbikes.

If you know what you're doing, you can start in 3rd gear. This is the same effect. Every shift loses you several feet. No shifting = beat everybody shifting. All these e-bikes need is a clutch and probably some gears. Then it's a done deal. It won't be long before someone asks you 'You're still running fuel?'

Maybe not on a MX track but in wide open spaces like the desert you're using every ounce of power a 450 has. Hell, I'm always ringing my CR500's neck in the desert. Then again, I suspect the Varg would run out of juice very quickly if you tried to push it hard in the dunes. Even gas bikes burn through the juice pretty fast out there.

I like constant roost on electric,like a cv transmission on a sled, or quad ,no shifting to interrupt power going to wheel,and rpm drop with each shift, I bet electric bike is great for hill climbing and slow technical areas, the beta electric bike is great price it just needs 21 inch front wheel, these electric bike improve each year almost like how bikes from 1970 to 1980 improved each year

Nice objective perspective. Electric will be great for Trials and Cross-Country technical Enduros and while it may be able to perform on the Supercross/MX track, E-Bikes are "soulless" without any real sound. Just watch a Formula E race on TV....although an Extreme E race is very exciting!

exactly.. I donno why people are making this a big deal. Obviously E bike will be faster. And in most of the cases it requires less skills to ride. And the "less skill required" part is the one thing I hate about EVs being forced upon us.

I'm currently an electric vehicle user. When racing and going long distances, gas powered ones is better, because electric is just equivalent to more or less just a standard 2L fuel tank. But if just for commuting or city rides, I'd prefer electric, I prefer to pay less with electricity than gas.

Pits will just need power and they can charge racers and make profit on that, no one wants to hear a bunch of generators running, hare scrambles will be a challenge because they are 2 or 3 hours so only way is quick change Batts or having multiple bikes and charging one while racing ,so gasoline is better for now for hare scrambles ,trials bikes electric works great because of low load and trials are not real long, speedway might work out good with electric bikes, Supercross is short so that would work good electric but they would sound like a RC cars so that might make it boring for spectators but low sound means you could do a Supercross anywhere there is enough room

Just barely made it finishing in limp mode, but my battery is only 2/3rd the size of the Varg's so for me the Varg could do a standard hare scramble easy. E-dirtbikes last a lot longer on singletrack than highspeed open stuff I've noticed

@@GS-zv3qn It's a sweet trail bike, especially at $6500 and it has reverse! Tons of aftermarket parts available already. The stock 19" wheels suck, a 18/21 set really opens it up. Doesn't need anything past that though

Yes. But one thing to consider is that 2 stroke dirt bikes are still around. If that's the case in the future, then no worries. Like people will have a choice of 2 stroke, 4 stroke and electric. IMO, Electric dirt bikes should be an addition to the dirt bike world, not a substitution.

@jamesclark4 tesla plaid runs in 9 second quarter mile range so electric can be quick and some of the tesla cars get around 400 miles on a charge so they are doing pretty good, but they need battery packs that can be changed out to a fresh one that way there is no wait for a charge, but the battery's are heavy so they would have to have car made so they slide in and out with some kind of mechanism

It doesn’t matter that the electric bike is faster in a drag race. People are missing the point of what motocross is about. It’s years of training to be smooth, shift correctly, braking, jumping and the sounds of the 2 stroke engines and not a 4 stroke. We all know we can make a bike do 500mph but that’s so far away from what motocross is. I hope they don’t sell even one bike. If the big manufacturers go to electric bikes that would be great because they are about to have a group overtake motocross anyway and the AMA and manufacturers will be nothing unless they build 2 strokes. Every rider will be joining this organization and each state will keep track of points and all riders including amateurs will get a ranking which is the way it should have been all along. It’s the sloppiest most unorganized sport I’ve ever seen
