I love that when she said kids learn best when they're really interested engaged in things I think we all learned best when we are really interested and engaged in things!

First few mins I'm already in tears. Going through that same situation husband wants our two , my hearts desire is for many more children . This video came at a perfect timing, it's been a silent prayer I'm just waiting and trusting on God! Thanks sister for your testimony

Thanks so much for persevering with this episode!! It turned out great and for all the car-set-drama, it was decent framing and good sound and felt like when some mates drop you at the train station (UK listener here!!) and you’re trying to get out the back of the car but the chat is soooo good you can’t leave haha. Thanks for asking great questions and for the introduction to Durenda, I need to check out more of her resources - not come across her before but valued her gentle and Lord-dependent approach. Thanks for this interview!! Especially with all that is going on for you folks at the moment!! Wow! 😊

What Durenda said about not wanting her kids to feel as if they had already parented before becoming parents... So true! For me at least. I was the edlest of seven and I just have one two and a half year old son now... And I feel as if my whole life has just been screaming children and I cannot imagine having a large family... It was overdone when I was a teen...which is sad.

I’m not a believer at all but you two are excellent at interviewing! I would love to see an interview with a fellow christian parent but maybe one with conflicting views. Like Tim from new evangelicals maybe. Y’all seem like great parents! Good work!

Mutual respect is key. I thought it went one way, but you are modeling respect or disrespect with your attitude toward your child. Boys WILL scare you. Pray quietly!!

How do homeschoolers apply for college and jobs and do they adapt to 8 hiur work days if they have shorter school days.
@jaord530

They apply for jobs like anyone else. For college there’s steps you can take while they’re in HS to help kiddo meet criteria for college. Plenty of homeschoolers actually overlap college coursework with HS work. When I went to a 4 year university after public high school the avg was only 12 hours of classes a WEEK. I had to have a waiver to take over 18 credit hours even with a 3.8 GPA. Even with assignments and studying most university kids have a TON of extra time. I feel like university did not prepare me for an 8 hr wrk day at ALL. Luckily I already had jobs on top of school. There’s plenty you can do to prepare your child for life and you have more access to do that outside of traditional public schools if you so desire.

I've never understood homeschoolers who do 9 a.m. to noon school. We always did 9 till 3 approx. Unless they are about k to 3rd. You can also increase discipline by doing earlier wake up, school uniforms, and longer school days in high school. Testing annually or biannually is wise to get them used to standardized tests. Other than that, you can watch videos, I suppose, of job interviews. Most applications are online. Process is no different than for public school. You can use apps like Homeschool Tracker to create lesson plans and grades and transcripts. I don't know if any of that answers your question.

Of course, our school day was 9 till noon, then lunch, then nap/reading was 1 till 3 pm. In high school, the 1 to 3 pm might be more schoolwork, and then book reading would be at bedtime.
