Can you tell me where to find the pattern and how much fabric do I need to buy thank you
@QuestioningQuilter2 жыл бұрын
The written pattern for this is in the August 2021 issue of my email newsletter. If you go to my website (any page questioningquilter.com ) and sign up for the newsletter, the confirmation email will have a link to the newsletter archive. As far as fabric goes, it depends on how big you want to make it. If you want to make a large lap sized quilt you can make it 6 across and 8 down for a top that would measure 45″ X 72″. This would require 1 yard each of the two primary fabrics and 1 2/3 yard of the background, not including binding and backing.
@gloriavella30252 жыл бұрын
Hi Brita Thank you for your reply that helped me a lot regarding the fabric Gloria

Hi Brita I love your colours how can I get same colour that you used I’m not good in matching colours together When I try I never like what I choose I need to see it before or can you tell me what other colours go together please Thank you Gloria
@QuestioningQuilter2 жыл бұрын
I don't have space here for an in depth discussion of color. But, one trick that I have used to make sure two fabrics go well together is to pick a small scale print or batik as your main color. Look at the fabric and pick one of the less dominant colors. Try to match your second fabric to the color that you picked from the first fabric. It is hard to see in the video, but the red and blue batik fabric on the video has some orange spots. I matched the orange fabric to the orange spots in the batik. Sometimes print fabrics have little circles in the selvage with each of the colors they use. That makes it really easy to find a fabric that will coordinate. This is best done in person of course. If you are shopping online, many designers have fabric collections where all the fabrics in that collection will look good together. I hope this helps.

Oh how I wish! I am working all by myself in my spare room. Not counting the time to come up with the pattern and buy the fabric, it takes 2 full weeks of doing nothing else to press, cut, sew, write the script, film, photograph and edit the video. I didn't do a newsletter with my last video, but that takes an additional day. I also have lectures, workshops, guild business and a new grandson (I help my daughter 1 day a week). It is a stretch for me to get one tutorial out a month. Thanks for the optimistic thoughts though

Do you press the seams open or to the side? Does it matter which way?
@QuestioningQuilter2 жыл бұрын
I never press my seams open, for a lot of reasons. I generally pinwheel the center seam of my 4-Patch, so some are pressed to the light and some to the dark. I have found that if you use a decent fabric for the light (that is not so thin that you can see through it) then it doesn't matter very much which way you press it. For me it is more important to nest my seams to get decent intersections than which way the fabric is pressed.

Thank you for the chart; wondered why the 5" square was not included in the chart but later found the "friendly" version. Now I wondered if the 5" squares put together would look a bit altered or probably not much difference in the final look of the completed quilt.
@QuestioningQuilter2 жыл бұрын
The 5" square isn't included in the standard chart because it won't make a 4 patch that is divisible by 3. Four 5" squares will make a 4-Patch that is 9 1/2" square. In order to make this block, you have to cut it into 9 equal squares. You do this by dividing by 3. Three doesn't go into 10.5. This quilt is NOT charm pack friendly. The charm pack friendly quilts only have the blocks turned 180 degrees. Using these numbers, the blocks won't be perfectly square.
