The remainder of the trail is still at risk of not being built, and will likely remain at risk until it is fully completed. Content like this is helpful to show local politicians the positive impact to come from completing the Rock Island Trail.

Thank YOU for watching. Yes, hopefully they keep working on it, I'd heard that there was some political pushback on spending the money to complete the trail. Hopefully, there are enough Missourians who understand the incredible benefits of trails and infrastructure such as this.

Wonderful to see you in my backyard, Lee’s Summit. How did you all travel to P Hill as the trail has yet to be completed? Your route looked very lovely with minimal traffic. Keep the Faith

Thank you Al! We loved Kansas City. One of the nice things on this tour was the chance to discover some of the forgotten cities of the U.S. In a car, they all seem the same. On bikes, you really notice the unique qualities of each.

I hope to be following in your footsteps, or maybe I should say tire tracks, later this summer. I'm planning to ride from Milwaukee to Kansas City. I'll be on the Katy Trail from Hermann to Windsor and then on the Rock Island Trail from Windsor to Pleasant Hill and then into Kansas City. It will probably be late July or August so I'm sure I'll be experiencing some of that heat and humidity.
@TheBicycleTourists2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a great trip! Enjoy that midwest humidity. Truth be told, I don't remember being miserable.. But there were times when I felt like we weren't being good to our bodies.

Between the Rogers Pass and Augusta did you ride the MT200 and MT434? What a lot of traffic! On Streetview, the MT200 looks quite empty, but the real world turns out to be different. I am sorry to read this. This is not the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail, is'nt it?
@TheBicycleTourists2 жыл бұрын
No, we were following the Adventure Cycling Lewis and Clark trail, toward the Northern Tier. Not the Transam. It wasn't a lot of traffic, it was that whoever passed us seemed hellbent on not giving us any space. Rather, I don't think that they saw us or that we registered as something to avoid. And with no shoulder, that became a real problem for us.
@billbike95732 жыл бұрын
@@TheBicycleTourists That is indeed dangerous and threatening. As cyclists we are very vulnerable. I hope your journey continues to go well. What a beautiful intro you have with that swelling music!
@TheBicycleTourists2 жыл бұрын
@@billbike9573 the music feels epic, and it matches the way we felt about our trip. Even thought we bailed in Montana, it felt epic, and continued to be after our arrival in KC.
@rechuckg2 жыл бұрын
You have to follow your gut or instincts. I'm sure you made the right decision about changing your plan in Montana. It is one thing to be a bit miserable because your legs hurt or the weather is uncomfortable. It is a completely different thing if you don't feel safe (and obviously correctly).

We do feel like we made the right choice. But not an easy one.
