I am absolutely loving your series. I have wanted to ride coast to coast for decades and your videos are like throwing gasoline on a candle... WHOOM! Maybe I'll be free to go in 2025.

I know the feeling. Been wanting to do it for decades before we finally were able to make it happen. Good luck!

What a ride! That's just about as good as it gets. The sunset over the lake at Harrison was beautiful.

Yeah that was a beauty. The American west is full of awesome camping. And this rail trail is hard to beat!

Get ride. We did this route in 2019 and loved it. Actually rode it both directions as we had our rig back near Plummer so turned around at Mullen and rode back. Next time Hiawatha! Have a great trip over the pass.

I was looking forward to the Trail of the Coeur D’Alenes as I've seen some promotional videos.of tours with Pedego ebikes. The lake was fabulous and was the trail. You deserved that after all the desert riding! OK, break time for me.
@TheBicycleTourists2 жыл бұрын
If you can get out and ride it you should. It's an exceptional trail.

Hotels are only for BAD BAD weather, I'll take my tent or hammock any day. Rode that trail along with the Hiawatha last year, great riding, beautiful country. I spent a year in '79/'80 living in the Bitterroot Mountains north of the Snake Pit along the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River. BTW, the Snake Pit use to be the local Cat House before it became just a bar and restaurant. I'll be looking forward to watching you next video to see the route you take to go over Lookout Pass. I road the NORPAC myself, mostly forest roads.

@@juliannahenley4921 When I was living in the area in 79/80 Wallace was still known for their cat houses. Same area as where they now advertise is the center of the universe if i remember right.
@TheBicycleTourists2 жыл бұрын
That's the place. People we met in town kept asking where the Center of the Universe was. I wanted to give them a smart aleck, zen response like "you're standing in it".

Thanks for the ride! My GF and I rode Coeur D'Alenes last summer 7/18/21 on our way to RAGBRAI One of the best trails, but there's so many. When were you there?

This would have been late July of last year. So we were close to crossing paths. I'd guess we were a week behind you.
How did you get Henry Fonda to do the voice over. Loved the video. From Sydney Australia.

Lovely footage. How wide were your tires? I am planning a similar tour and trying to strike the right balance between efficiency on the paved roads, with still enough width to be comfortable on gravelly rail trails and backroads. Thanks!
@TheBicycleTourists Жыл бұрын
Thank you Steve! I'm gonna guess here ( I have zero memory of anything with numbers in it) that Julianna's tires are around 38. Mine are more like 45. Mine (and perhaps Julianna's) only have teeth at the edges so the roll on pavement is smooth. Great for moving back and forth between pavement and gravel/limestone/dirt.

The trail seems to be taking lemons and making lemonade. How did the valve repair go? Tubeless tires for touring pros/cons?
@TheBicycleTourists2 жыл бұрын
The valves have a tendency to get plugged with goo from time to time. Park the bike with valves on top of the wheel and it doesn't settle in it. Julianna is sold on tubeless. I still use tubes. Either seems to work just fine.
