I threw my first discuss and it went 25 mtrs...... what was your throw when you were at beginning.... could training lead me to olympics level...my age 23 rn...or should I pursue other sport like shot put, it went 9mtrs....please guide me how much could tranining help improving?...regards

Do you have any advice on how to carry great practice throws over into a meet? This week I had 15 throws over my PR. But at my meet today my best throw went 4 feet under my PR. I had one throw at practice that was over 10 feet more than my PR. I even had 3 warmup throws go over my PR before the meet. But once I got in the actual meet I couldn't hit a good mark to save my life. I cant figure out what's causing this . Do you have any idea why this could be happening ?

What muscles are you using to enter the middle? Are you using your calf muscle to push or your groin to pull? Is that what is causing you to over extend? There seems to be two thoughts on this part of the throw. I am having difficulty determining which is correct. I was always told to use the calf. But that was a long time ago. Now I coach kids and I'm not sure which is best. Thanks.

Whitney, do you have them kick the can outside the circle?start with the giant can of peaches from the school cafeteria, which is full, then move to a can of yams,then corn, and then try tomato sauce in those little cans.

Entry seems to be the problem, turn quite good basic elements fine think the main problem is that your left foot does not rotate far enough.This leads to many of the problems you are concerned with, because of a poor rotation of the left foot right legcannot drive properly it goes up and over left leg and pre hooks .This causes some of your left leg issues to straight too slow too wide makes your posture and balance out in the centrecausing your dropped shoulder .Up over down with right leg also stops your right foot from landing properly and continuing to rotate , left leg major problem here.Get entry correct then may of the other issues will start to improve.
