I have similar thoughts on this to Aladdin (2019). VFX looks cheap but the performances and singing have potential. Rachel's singing is just as good as Naomi Scott in Aladdin 2019.

That was one of the better remake trailers. The original Snow White ride at the parks was a horror ride. First ride I went on at Disney and it scared the crap out of me.

Ok. As someone who grew up watching the original animated classic, was/am looking forward to this new live action adaption. So far, I'm 90% loving and 5% hating this first look of Snow White. Everything LOOKS incredible, those owls carved onto the cottage staircase, which looks like a literal fairytale cottage, is straight out of the movie, I love it. Snow looks decent, I'll leave it at that. The movie visuals look 100% stunning and the REAL showstopper is of course Gal Gadot as The Evil Queen. She looks great, that scene of her walking down the secret spiral staircase to her dungeon/lair and her flipping her cape was also straight out of the movie. Not loving her crown though and I do like that it's make of what looks like stain glass, I'll need a minute to get used to it, though that's a champagne problem. But now, my 5% hate/problem with this movie...the dwarves... oy...not good.

I honestly think Rachel Zegler is an excellent choice for this particular role. Other than that, the film seems meh in my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️

Skeleton Crew, Agatha All Along, Mufasa, Snow White, they all look uninteresting. The rest of the year looks boring. The year peaked with Deadpool & Wolverine and that’s it. The Acolyte, The Boys S4, House of the Dragon S2, and Cobra Kai S6 Part 1 disappointed. I heard Echo was boring. The Rings of Power S2 looks to be another disaster coming our way in 3 weeks. The year of 2024 might be one of the worst years for entertainment since 2020. What did I truly *enjoy* this year? Ted, Fly Me to the Moon, Furiosa, and Deadpool & Wolverine. Kingdom of the Planet of Apes was pretty good but I wouldn’t say I enjoyed it. I still have never seen Dune II. I’m not sure Beetlejuice 2 is going to rock as I was never a big fan of the OG from ‘88. Never seen an Alien movie in my life. I was so disappointed with House of the Dragon S2, I’m considering of deleting the entire thing on my Pixel 3. Season 1 is superior but then is it superior to Game of Thrones 1-4? Hell no. I’m starting to think the Game of Thrones lore should never be trusted after that disastrous final season. I was ready to buy GOT merch like a mini figure of Tormund, Jaime, or Tyrion but I think George R.R. Martin’s lore is headed where Star Wars is. It’s going to be overhated a lot and it will get stale. I no longer believe in “franchises”. They all suck or will suck. MCU and Star Wars are no longer they once were. I’m excited for Doomsday but MCU will never be as great as Phase 3. The only trilogy that stayed safe are Back to the Future and The Godfather although their third movies aren’t as loved as the first two. Everything else eventually sucked. My confidence is shaken for Andor S2 after the disappointment seeing The Mandalorian S3, The Boys S4, HOT D S2, and Cobra Kai S6 P1. Only Loki S2 didn’t degrade much from it’s S1 although Rotten/audience score does have it lower at 82% vs. S1’s 92/90%. But at least Loki S2 didn’t plummet the way The Boys S4 and HOT D S2 did. Those two shows were highly anticipated and they disappointed. The Boys S4 got review bombed and is by far the most hated season of the series. Then the one I’ve relied on the longest, Cobra Kai, they are trying to stretch out the story too much. This doesn’t give me confidence for Andor S2 or for Stranger Things’ final season. We will expect and we will expect and then they disappoint like LOST and Game of Thrones. The Walking Dead fell off by S7 but really after S3. I enjoyed Stranger Things S1 and S4 but not so much for S2 and S3. It might end up being like Cobra Kai S6. Marvel, Star Wars, DC, they all suck. I will stick to individual movies and no more from popular franchises. The quality gets diluted after a while. Agatha All Along looks like a bad sequel to Hocus Pocus 2 which was a bad sequel. A bunch of middle-aged diverse women and I adore Kathryn Hahn and loved her in WandaVision. I saw enough witches from The Acolyte. I’m not excited to see more. I didn’t like The Lion King (2019). Why would I enjoy Mufasa? Snow White has Rachel Zegler who was the most hated actress last year and who doesn’t respect the source material. Eww! Gal should be Snow White. She’s far prettier. And Skeleton Crew looks awful. Take The Goonies (1985) and Hook (1991) but make it Borderlands bad and put it in the Star Wars universe. It looks more like Tomorrowland (2015) than Star Wars. It’s almost like some fans for whatever franchise they follow are programmed to type: “this looks fun” or “this looks interesting” because they subconsciously want it to be good and try to remain optimistic. Then when they watch it, it sucks. Streaming killed the regular way to watch TV and movies. QC is no longer there. Scripts are being written by AI to have something to stream. Hollywood sucks especially Disney. Favorite movies that aren’t part of franchises or isn’t a reboot/remake - Let It Ride (1989) The Shawshank Redemption (1994) Casino (1995) Goodfellas (1990) Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood (2019) The Big Lebowski (1998) Elvis (2022) Air (2023) Kingpin (1996) Pulp Fiction (1994) ** Django Unchained (2012) The Hateful Eight (2015) Jojo Rabbit (2019) Dazed and Confused (1993) There’s Something About Mary (1998) Easy A (2019) ** While Tarantino uses the same song and name from the 1966 film, his Django movie has a completely different story. There’s actually a spin-off movie for Jesus in The Big Lebowski but I don’t really view TBL to be a franchise. And there’s actually a sequel to The Sandlot. Hot Tub Time Machine did have that awful sequel in 2015. I didn’t put Maverick (1994) because it is based from a TV show in the late 1950s with James Garner who also appeared in the 1994 movie. Maverick was revived briefly in the early 80s. I only found out recently that Some Like it Hot is a remake of a 1930s French movie. Most of my all-time movies don’t come from franchises but most movie reviewers on KZbin have most of their focus on Marvel and Star Wars as it draws the most views. The best movie reviewer on KZbin is Maggie aka Deepfocuslens. She was born in the early 90s but she will talk about movies she enjoyed from the 1950s! Her taste is very out there. She’s more of a true film buff than others. Saw Deadpool & Wolverine for the 8th time in the theater yesterday. I’m convinced Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova is a first tier villain in MCU right up with there with Thanos, Loki (2011-2012), Hela, and Killmonger. Emma is fantastic! Thank you, 1980s Princess Diana! Favorite Songs In Deadpool & Wolverine 1. “The Lady in Red”, Chris de Burgh 2. “Iris”, Goo Goo Dolls 3. “Like a Prayer”, Madonna 4. “The Power of Love”, Huey Lewis 5. “Make Me Lose Control”, Eric Carmen 6. “I’m With You”, Avril Lavigne 7. “Good Riddance”, Green Day I never liked “Bye Bye Bye” but it’s a good usage for that song during the intro. I was 19 when that song came out in early 2000 but wasn’t into boy band music except maybe a couple of songs from Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. “The Lady in Red” is my favorite song when we first see Mary Puppins aka Dogpool because I used to be on CamFrog back in the day circa 2016. We would have girls flash their boobs and that song used to play a lot, or “Gravity” by John Mayer and “Ring My Bells” by Enrique Iglesias. We see Dogpool a second time and then Eric Carmen’s song plays. “Iris” would play for all the gay jokes with that one guy who kept eyeing Deadpool or a shirtless Logan at the end. The fight choreography is pretty decent. The one with Blade, Elektra, Gambit, and X-23 could’ve been better but when “Like a Prayer” plays that first time, it’s quite fun seeing it in one panning shot. I love seeing Deadpool hang on that street light like he’s gay. Blake Lively was never under the Lady Deadpool suit. She only voiced her. I will admit after seeing D&W so many times, I am getting sick and tired of it. A lot of the jokes will not age well in a few years as they’re topical jokes. It’s like Mike Myers in Wayne’s World or Austin Powers and Family Guy. They’re not universal timeless jokes. But there is one scene where I laugh every time. It’s not from one of the cameos. It actually involves Paradox. When he yells: F**K! when he realizes Deadpool and Wolverine are still alive and then “Iris” plays and then you see that one guy who stares at Logan. I also like the scene when Ryan Reynolds goes “Oh my God” right when Wolverine is ready to fight his brother, Sabretooth. Or when Deadpool says that’s what scoutmaster Kevin used to say. I thought Cassandra said annual box set but she actually said she’s flicking a bean to an Enya box set. The Will Smith joke is funny but that Mangold joke is funnier if you catch it. “Make it stop!” “Mangold tried!” (director of Logan) I pretty much memorized everything about this movie. It’s solid entertainment but it’s not a better film to me than Top Gun: Maverick or Oppenheimer. A handful of good tunes across several decades. Then there is one scene that isn’t a joke but makes me smile every time. It’s when “The Lady in Red” plays. boring adult man aren’t the audience millions and millions os people will watch and have fun, it’s a movie made for kids and for people who enjoy nostalgia and rachel it’s perfect for the role, she can definitely sing, she looks so sweet, innocent and cute as snow white
