Awesome, I am from Arkansas, but was living in AL when me and my six rescues hit the road full time about 16 months ago (I ride a Honda 450 Dual Sport). We only stay in dispersed campsites and didn't know there were any in Arkansas! Thanks for the information! P.S. just looked up the dispersed camping guidelines for the Ouachita National Forest, cannot believe what I just read - "You may camp in a dispersed area for up to 30 days. After 30 days, you must move at least 5 road miles for camping in another dispersed area. Campers may not return to the same campsite within the calendar year."

There are definitely lots of dispersed camping spots in the Ozarks and Ouachita's. I've got it in my head to visit them all before I die. LOL Ouachita NF is definitely a great place to visit.

I can't believe this video appeared on my KZbin feed. We just sold a 160 acre farm on State Hwy 217 between Booneville and Sugar Grove a month ago and moved to NE Texas. I know exactly where that Lake Vista view is, as I have been there several times. It is such a beautiful area. You didn't mention it, but the mountain across the lake is Mount Magazine, the highest mountain in Arkansas.

Well, you have good taste in videos. ;-) I've been up on Mt Magazine numerous times. Beautiful Ozarks up that way. Thanks for watching!

We sure liked Western Arkansas. We just didn't have time to find the good Mark Signature disbursed spots, but what we did find was great. Blanchard Springs, Lake Dardanelle, Mt. Nebo, Ouachita State Park, Texas Roadhouse Steak dinner, Big Fir, Wilhelmina State Park, and other placces in-between. We did see a couple gun ranges which I wish we had here in Washington. Take care Mark.

@DispersedCamperMan We plan to return to Arkansas. It really is that nice there to bring us back. I just happened to chat with a guy walking by the house, very interested in the truck and camper. He was from Littlerock of all places, so we had a good travel conversation.

I don't know about Arkansas but next door in Oklahoma you need a hunting license to make use of the gun ranges located on Wildlife Management Areas.
@DispersedCamperMan5 ай бұрын
Jack Creek is not a WMA, it's part of the Ouachita National Forest. The shooting range is maintained and operated by the Federal Forest Rangers, not state leased WMA's. I've never heard of WMA's shooting ranges needing hunting licenses to use them either. I hope it doesn't turn into that.

So have you ever had intruders upon your campsite when you’re not there? I had a scary incident recently in my camping, but it was a first time experience. Honestly, I just don’t expect it to happen. So I was quite shocked when it did happen.I’m trying to think a little more defensively since I am a woman and often camping alone. Any tips you share are welcome. Perhaps you could do a whole video on that.
@DispersedCamperMan4 ай бұрын
No, I've never had any intruders. I do follow my gut instinct though. If I pull up to a spot I don't feel comfortable at, I leave. I normally camp at spots where there are nobody around. I rarely run into anybody while camping. Safe travels!

I’m thinking google maps doesn’t recognize the road it’s on. Go to these coordinates and follow the road to it. 35.0141126, -93.7024462 I just updated the directions in the video description.
@baadach37522 ай бұрын
Hello! Would it be legal or illegal to camp up at the top of that mountain at the Lake Vista overlook you visited? Going out that way within the next month and am wondering if that could be a potential backup spot or not...
@DispersedCamperMan2 ай бұрын
I don't believe you would be able to. It's a very small unlevel gravel parking lot for folks to park to see the Vista. I wouldn't camp there. Here is the coordinates to another back up spot 35.027825, -93.828945 it's right before the one in this video. The creek is behind this spot. No cell service. Also, deer hunting season is starting up in Arkansas. Modern gun I think opens up sometime in November. Safe Travels.

How about a video explaining exactly how you get cell service through your StarLink dish arrangement? Which cell service do you use? THANKS!!!
@DispersedCamperMan5 ай бұрын
Hello! I have Verizon. When I'm out in the boonies with no cell service, I use my starlink for Wi-Fi calling. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max. To turn on Wi-Fi calling, go to settings, then Cellular, then Wi-Fi Calling. Turn on the Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone. It's that easy. Most cell phones have this option. Hope this helps.
