People at BlurBusters says and tested that GPU scaling is better for latency nowadays. It wasn't true 5-10 years ago but the pixel fill rate of modern GPUs are so fast that they are technically better than display scalers in monitors.

Before I watched this video, I watched your older video and here's something interesting I wanna share. I'm on 1080p monitor and I did the copy method for 1280x960 on 165hz. It worked but after I followed your steps, I put on the 1280x960 resolution in display settings. Because I like "experimenting", I also turned on GPU scaling in amd software and screen froze, boom black screen, the monitor went out of range. I thought I bricked my OS but it was fixed it by holding power button so I force shutdown the pc, on next startup AMD software reset my settings cause of "failure" and set my screen resolution back to native 1080p (it didnt reset cru settings)

im confused.... cause if i want to use integer scaling on my AMD Radeon software, then i must also enable GPU scaling, otherwise integer scaling is out of order. But on the other side if i use both to make integer scaling enabled then whats the point with your first part of video and display scaling? do i understand right that i need to choose between display scaling without integer scaling enabled .... or GPU scaling with integer scaling enabled, right? Theres no way to have display scaling throught CRU with integer scaling enabled ?

As much as i want to believe display scaling is better, i just cant, i tried it on my xl2546k and had the worst experience i could get, a blurry, slow and very high input lag, i even tried thru CRU and it didnt help a single bit. So just to clarify GPU scaling is better and the low latency is much more stable, faster and just far more enjoyable. U truly made me believe that Display scaling is better, but i experienced the quite opposite and would never want to use it again. But alotta other stuff u got on point so thank u for ur great help with everything besides display scaling 🙏

We love u Chris! Having said that, i'd like to share an experiment of mine. Main purpose of this experiment is re-creating a BenQ xl2456k game-like experience but on a bit higher resolution and IPS colours in an ideal 25,5" diagonal which such a monitor is definetelly missing from the market. First of all all the resolutions we get is 1080p, 1440p and 4k which i find very limiting since there are at least 4 resolutions between 1080p and 1440p that i find them to be ideal for wayy better visual than 1080p while very competitive as far as peripheral vision and framerates. If you're running an Nvidia GPU and your monitor supports the "perform scaling on: Display" scale then you can set any desired custom resolution on your monitor at max Hz supported and enjoy a very unique gaming experience WITHOUT ANY INPUT LAG WHATSOEVER. For example i am a strong monitor enthusiast (own 9 high end monitors) and what i am really interested in is missing from the current monitor market. My favorite of my monitors are 2 for different reasons, my Alienware AW2721D, IPS panel at 1440p, 27", 240hz, Gsync for atmospheric experience single playing games and semi-competitive pvp games and for absolute sweating in PvP i use my BenQ Zowie xl2546k, TN panel at 1080p, 24.5",240hz, Dyac+ for fastest possible responce times the absolut minimum input lag and that stellar motion handling from Dyac+. Now what i did is the following> i tried to combine all in one on my Alienware AW2721D that supports the perform scaling on Display option on my Nvidia settings combining all the elements im really after such as smaller than 27" display for better peripheral vision and competitive advantage, custom resolution that actually recreates that stellar 1440p visibility on the same analogy per inch and the true usage of 240hz maxed out on all my fav games at all times from my Asus TUF Rtx 3080 Oc that had some problems reaching a constant 240hz at 1440p on the games i love. Therefore my final results for my experiment is> custom resolution of 2304x1296 px (which offers an overall lower input lag since the GPU is rendering in theoritical less res than the native one while the scaling is performed instantly from the display itself), 240hz, Gsync ofc disabled since im running at the max hz at all times and a diagonal size of about 25", Overdrive on the middle setting of SuperFast, Black EQ at 2, and custom color profile. This resolution on that size is addentical to 2560x1440 px (1440p) resolution on 27" which is the native one. NOTE* most people might not like the black boarders around but i was already used to it from the side panels of my BenQ for making me to be way more focused at the middle of the screen.

I wonder if you were to combine these settings while using dynamic resolution (and DLSS in game) in NVIDIA control panel at 1.78x or 2.5x what the results would be. My understanding would be that it would render in at 1080p or 1440p while still translating it onto your screen at 720. I use DR and DLSS Balanced for MW because the game is so blurry... might have to test this out myself.

Take 1920x1080 integer scaled to a 4K monitor, for example. Logic and intuition suggests that it will look blockier than native 4K, but still look better than an equivalent native 1080p monitor (same size, color profile, refresh, etc), while having similar performance to the latter. This is because the 4K monitor still has smaller, less visible interpixel gaps. There is a lot more interest in this lately, with the announced Lenovo Legion Go handheld. It has a 1600p screen, which the APU clearly can't handle for many modern games, but the intention seems to be that you could integer-upscale 800p. Some people are saying integer scaling won't look good on it, but we'll see.

GPU skalling is the real one. He dont understand this. Someone explain shit to him and now he do videos with this wrong information. By me its same in CS. Mouse movement and Display is better and sharper on GPU skalling. Every picture created in the GPU and from here they flying around. GPU is the first step on fps. If you use Display... This Picture from GPU flying to CPU, skalling the GPU image to your display resolution and flying back to monitor. This take time and make it not so sharp. So this is the reson the mouse movement is not exactly and picture is blury....

You have to force the game to full screen. Borderless window is best method then you apply Integer Scaling. Here's a demo how to do it right. Note ...... Integer Scaling doesn't upscale, that's why you have to force a Fullscreen. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnW3ia2EjsynY9U

Yes, I will try to explain it best I can. Make sure your main/native resolution monitor e.g 1920x1080 is 1 or 2 Hz lower than monitors refresh rate. Then make the 1440x1080 the max monitor refresh rate. That should fix it.

I have vg248qe the first one released at 2014. When i was on windows 7 i had display scaling on nvidia but on windows 10 its forced gpu scaling. Im still using cru or manual custom res to force to play pubg at 1350x1080 its much clear than native. But with cru game does stutter and with nvidia manual custom res with timings i got from cru game have input lag. I never feel this on windows 7 with display scaling selected. I know there is a way to unlock display scaling but it does add 1920 to native res i want 1350x1080 my native res like cru. Is there any way to unlock display scaling by default on nvidia control panel?

I don't know why the opposite happens to me, if I put gpu scaling in a lower resolution for example in cs the game looks clearer, in addition to having insta alt-tab. In display scaling it is the opposite, it looks worse and the alt-tab is low af (btw i have zowie 2546k)

I dont understand why this Guy talk everytime that display skalling is good. It can be good. if you have extrem better CPU maybe, but for normal people its worse.

Because you're correct and this guy is talking nonsense. Now MAYBE the input lag is a bit higher.. (not sure, highly doubt it though) but the image is undeniably superior.

32:46 this show us that we need high pro gaming 720p monitor. what the point to buy a 2k or 4k monitor. scalling it down to have good fps. they should sell very good 720p monitor. so we can play 720p without scaling shit with good sharping pic and good fps.... the industrie is dumb....
@OneShotCS
@OneShotCS Жыл бұрын
Nah, 720p monitors would be terrible. Consumer standard rn is 1080p and you can just downscale with gpu scaling and it will be good. Having 720p monitor won’t be stretched btw if that’s what you want. Using 1080p monitor and having stretched 720p is better than 720p non stretched imo.

@@OneShotCS man you know nothing. if you scale down from native , you get pixel blur stuff. there is no point to scale down. you need just a good nativ resolution for your option. if you would have a beaiful sharp pixel nativ 1600x900 monitor resolution. you would dont need 2k or 4k monitor and play low fps. you good play good fps with the most pc on a sharp pixel resolution. if u dont understand it and start talk about up and down scaling.... dude pls go sleep.
@OneShotCS
@OneShotCS Жыл бұрын
@@GodyArtDesign bro you downscale to get fps or to play stretched res in game like csgo. The point isn’t clear pixels in a game like csgo but instead to stretch character models. For fps downscaling then of course you want sharp image but just having a lower res monitor like 720p won’t even be good compared to a normal 1080p monitor anyways. 1080p isn’t too hard to drive and the only reason to downscale is if you can’t get enough fps on 1440p or 4K (which then you shouldn’t even have those monitors if you don’t have the specs for it). The way fr33thy showed to downscale with a sharper image is a good method but having a lower, native monitor for better fps is probably the better solution (but obviously not down to 720p since 1080p/1440p is better).

Well, I don't know about the input lag. But as far as "looks" go, GPU scaling 10000% looks better, sharper, clearer however you want to call it, than display scaling. Maybe I have a crappy low tier setup... Dont know. I'm using an RTX 2060 on a benq xl2430 monitor.
