Tango often says in his streams he forgets how his own redstone works in Decked Out 2 because there is so much of it now. I think it would be hilarious if people started sending him these videos so he could be retaught on how his own systems work. Keep it up this was really well done.

14:21 Tango has since updated the shuffler, precisely because of this problem. The new version uses 40 hopper-minecarts. (Each minecart grabs one card randomly). The design is by cybot2419, it was also used by xisumavoid for the automatic TCG-arena: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJWToqOYhKiiaNk

@@Wjanabdjd138I wish he did a version of it where you would lose a (ethereal) card only if you die in the dungeon or dont return with an artifact. This way you would be rewarded by getting out with an artifact and could rerun the same card the next run again. So the card would die with you, upping the stakes. But it might be a bit too snowbally for players that win multiple times in a row.
@GavinBisesi
@GavinBisesi 6 ай бұрын
@@SETHthegodofchaos I don't think that would work well - it creates a "lose more" feedback cycle. Losing one run makes it more likely for you to lose the next run, because you don't have a card you otherwise would. It's better if the runs are totally independent of each other (up to the limit of them buying new cards of course)

I was curious about that because when he said "Each card has a 5% chance of being destroyed" my first thought was "In a full deck that's all but certain to happen at least once." Iirc in a filled deck, at least one card would have been destroyed around 80-90% of the time, which is *terrible* design. If he wanted a card to be destroyed for every 1 in 20 games rather than 1 in 20 cards, I would have rolled right before the return, and then randomize which card is sacked. But even then to me the concept isn't that great to begin with.

I do hope a future season also brings Decked Out 3. Not to say 2 isn't amazing enough on its own, it absolutely is, but I'd just love to see if, and how, Tango would incorporate the new auto crafter into it. I believe Hermitcraft already has datapacks for custom recipes, so I can easily imagine him turning a dungeon into a collect-a-thon where you pick up all the pieces of your artifact and when they're all in place, the auto-crafter spits it out or something. Or probably something far more interesting than my basic idea here, I'm sure he would add in some amazing ideas with that new item.

I thought of a possible flaw in the shuffler. It was that if there are 8 or less cards that make it into the shuffler it would just cycle them in a loop instead of shuffle. When you pointed out the flaw in how it was triggered I thought that it would partially prevent the flaw I perceived. I also noticed that if there were duplicates, then the probabilities in the shuffler would also be effected. The last thing I thought of was that in the 5% destruction chance at the end, that it should be triggered PER item, and so the pressure plate used to separate the water streams would be the ideal trigger mechanism.

Great video, although I never realised there was a 5% chance for the non-ethereal card to be destroyed. I've never seen that happen to the Hermits so I think Tango got rid of it, as it would decrease the value of all the cards as well as make even me paranoid about everything, as it could destroy a 60-ember card.

Hello! I loved the video! Really informative, even if I don't usually do much Redstone. I have some feedback I'd like to share about the 5% destroy chance system.. 23:35 Shouldn't the repeater for the chance be triggered each time an item goes through the ice line? I don't think it originally worked with a "global clock" as you mentioned... I think with the implementation described in this video, the "global clock" will keep triggering the system while the game is not in use. Eventually getting that "5% chance" and locking that repeater. Which would then guarantee the first card of the next player being destroyed. 24:10 Instead of "Waiting for the next item", for it to be truly a 5% chance, the redstone signal for the chance system, should be extracted from the stream of cards and NOT from this "global clock". This way, each time a card goes trough, it has a chance of it being destroyed. I'm excited to watch the next episodes in this series! :D

My question about decked out, is how does it autoreset the number of ravagers and stuff, because people say that difficulty affects the number of ravagers everywhere, how does that work? also how does it deal with hermits dying in the middle of the dungeon and retreiving the items? also how do the artifact spots detect unique compassess, they cant stack right?
@xenon2177
@xenon2177 6 ай бұрын
Difficulty actually doesn't affect the number of ravagers at all, I think some people have assumed the difficulty means more than it does. All the difficulty does is determine how far you need to go into the dungeon for your artifact. Hermits dying in the middle of the dungeon is handled by having lots of items and just letting the ones dropped despawn, including treasure that never got picked up. There is a clock to prevent another person from going in before the items have despawned. Lastly, the compasses could stack since the ones bound to the same lodestone will actually stack, however, for simplicity's sake Tango hasn't bothered sorting to make sure you put the compass in the right spot. He has assumed the hermits aren't likely to follow the compass to the wrong spot, and I think most of them assume it has to be the right spot.
@nochsta
@nochsta 6 ай бұрын
@@xenon2177Also, the item doesn’t even have to be a compass; you can drop any item in to get the artefact. In theory, if you wanted to cheat, you could visit multiple known locations and leave with multiple artefacts by dropping random loot in them. Or even sit and spam one location. Or you could “trade” a low-value artefact: keep chucking it back in until you get a better one.
