Do you recommend a repair of a partial tear? MRI states: greater than 75 percent tear.

I had a total Distal Bicep Rupture 15 Months ago, never got Surgery but my Bicep still hurts doing things like using a manual Can Opener, Screw Driver, Wrench & anything twisting my hand to the right.. I was going to get the Graft Surgery soon but wondered if I can wait another 10 Months for the Graft since it's already been so long ??

@@Purplino I had to postpone it again, they said it doesn't matter when I get the Graft now that it's been over a year now.

I’ve been training for about 7 months and this just happened 2 days ago. I’m so depressed. I don’t want to lose muscle mass and gain all my weight back. I’m also not looking forward to all the pain and discomfort after surgery.

I had the surgery a few years ago. As far as pain goes, it was much less painful of a recovery than I expected, and I was given enough pain medication for two weeks, so i was good. It is a pain in the ass that it takes so long to fully recover. You can still do other workouts though, so I’m not sure why you think you will gain all your weight back. The worst thing about it for me was, having my arm locked in the same position for so long, I developed bad shoulder impingement that I’m still working to get rid of, though it has improved greatly. The biceps and range of motion come back fairly quickly if you stick to the physical therapy. I still have fear of lifting heavy, even though my surgeon told me that It is probably stronger than before the tear. it’s a mental thing, but I just can’t get rid of that lingering fear. But you will be ok. Just make sure you go to a surgeon who has performed the surgery many times. I got the “Titanium Endo-button with Tension Screw” which is the strongest type of repair. There are multiple methods, so you should discuss with the surgeon. Also, It is possible to get temporary nerve damage if the surgeon nicks a nerve, but it usually goes away. I didn’t get any nerve damage whatsoever. But try not to get too depressed over it; it will be an inconvenience for sure, but it is a relatively minor surgery and recovery. Good luck 👍🏼🍀 🤞

@@shawnfitzpatrick2954 I had the surgery. It was much easier than I was expecting. I’m bad with time frames, but had the surgery in January, and was healed enough to go to a Madonna concert and jump around for 3 hours in February…wearing the robotic looking arm thing of course. The pain meds took the pain away instantly and even boosted my mood/silliness. After I was cleared in PT I instantly went back to the gym to work out all of my other body parts. When I was able to finish PT, I instantly started working my bicep. It’s been 8 months since the surgery and I have had no complications. I look normal. I’m building my strength back up fine. My elbow still gets very sore after a workout, and sometimes the bicep burns more than the other one. Not sure if that’s normal but I still take it easy.

@@1mataleo1 I still have fear of getting hurt. It interferes with my ability to perform an exercise to failure. Sometimes I feel a burn that’s more intense than on the other arm, when doing bicep curls, which concerns me. Not sure if that’s normal. My elbow hurts when I curl heavy as well. I was told that by November everything should be all the back to normal.

@@shawnfitzpatrick2954 I also had a lot of nerve damage after the surgery. It felt like a bunch of tingles moving around inside your arm. Doesn’t hurt but it’s weird. That completely went away.

This happend to me while walking my Dog..he's about 95 lbs, and pulled suddenly on his leash to chase a rabbit, as he tugged, I tried to pull back...and POP !!! of my Distel Bicep. there was pain, and there is lingering weakness, but I can't stand doctors, and there's always a risk of infection, so my Body healed itself, and there's hardly and pain, but yes, there is some weakness. I'm 61, and it happend this past summer 2023.
