Like with the climate crisis protests there is room for every form of expression. Some people react to one form and some to others. I don't personally want children exposed to graphic footage so I think eyelines need to be thought about. I agree on not shouting out at random strangers, lest you be viewed as a nutcase.

Granted we are, well personally I live in a first world country that has the capability of producing plant based meat. It’s a privilege that we don’t have to hunt anymore either and we can rely in corporations and farms to do this work for us. I do love my chicken, but if within the next 20 years my country could create plant based chicken right down to the taste with the exact same macros as organic chicken then I will eat that plant based chicken as it’s also beneficial for stopping climate change but we are getting no progress here due to these radical vegans. Me and my mum went vegan today. I thought of something that just flicked a switch in my head. We pay people to kill animals, we buy it from the shopping centre, take it home and cook it, with seasoning-sauce. We eat it and our stomachs are coffins for the animals. It doesn’t make logical sense to eat animals when we have other foods to eat that are much more healthier for us. I can’t say show love but contributing to unnecessary violence. All these resources to produce about 400 lbs of flesh. Can you comprehend how ridiculous it is to measure waste by the percentage of the body used for products, while wasting nearly 1 million gallons of water and a 10-fold waste of edible food. All this irrationality so you can commit the incomparable evil of stealing the life and body of another for the sake of a few minutes of taste pleasure.

Bryanth29 The irony is that occasionally lions DO develop compassion for would-be prey. And guess what, they don’t cover their eyes like these shoppers and still consume them, they stop eating them and start defending them from other lions, even if the cost is starvation. Look up the story of the lioness Kamunyak on Wikipedia and youtube. There’s also a documentary about her, “Heart of a Lioness.” She adopted and defended six oryx calves before her disappearance. She’s not the only lioness to do something like this. The most unnatural, non-lionlike thing humans do is hide from and suppress their own compassion. And humans don’t even have to starve by embracing compassion, unlike these wild predators.

Im born and raised in vermont and I am vegan, it is a small state in New England. I was eating dairy without much guilt because I was always told that vermont cows are happy cows but it is obviously not true, as any dairy that is in high demand requires obviously high supply which would mean that the cows are constantly being impregnated and used and abused for their milk after constantly having their babies ripped away from them.

I formerly set self-imposed parameters for how much public and wilderness exposure, and therefore risk, I was willing to accept of catching turberculosis, whooping cough, malaria, Lyme's disease .... The widespread panic over covid-19 is mild compared to the inner panic that I formerly struggled with due to hypochondria. Interestingly, turberculosis alone kills about nine times more people every year than covid-19 even if we fail to consider false positives in the testing protocol and comorbidities. The aphorism, "it takes one to know one" is applicable to my perception of this situation. What I see is a pandemic of hypochondria.

And it's this kind of shit that makes a lot of us other people who are plant based and live by the same moral standard by not participating in animal cruelty (what is known as veganism) embarrassed to say we are vegan or ask for vegan options when we are buying food. This kind of shit slows the adoption of this movement from progressing as fast as it could. I know it's hard to control your emotions when dealing with something like animal abuse but they could've got a lot more positive responses from people who would listen in the supermarket if Joey wasn't being an antagonistic prick. The only place antagonism would be necessary is in the slaughterhouses with the people who are actually doing the killing. In this case with the vegetarian woman he could've called her back and engaged her in a compassionate conversation and educate her or remind her what suffering is actually involved in dairy industry but instead he scared her off by his shitty tone of voice.

I turned vegan after seeing footage from dairy farms when I was 15 years old. 6 years prior I became a vegetarian because I didn't want to hurt animals, when I found out that I had been causing them harm without even realising it for years I was absolutely heartbroken. It's her milk that she makes, and she can't consent, therefore I won't take it. And don't even get me started on the issue of the actual breeding. Cows were genetically modified (through a process called selective breeding) to produce more milk and be fatter, a thing that causes them suffering.
