I’ve read fanfic that has moved me to tears. There are two ways. 1) genuine emotion because the author put a lot of thought, planning, and care into the development of the story and characters. 2) laughing so hard I’m hoarse because of how bizarre the story is. Both are a great time

honestly I think the biggest problem is when authors that specialise in a certain type of writing (smut, fluff, angst, etc) try writing a whole story with multiple typed of writings. Like, I recently read a story that had smut, and while the smut was genuinely very intriguing and well written, the fluff and especially the angst was quite bad. there was one chapter pretty much full of angst and it was so, so bad.. It made no sense. It was about 15 chapters, the first chapter they met and the last chapter one of the characters proposed. I feel that it was very rushed. Though, I genuinely do think the author was very good at writing smut. The chapters that were mostly smut (about 2 of them) were actually very well paced and the dialogue was realistic. And it wasn't over-sexualised, which was great. (yes, somehow you can over-sexualise smut? god I've seen some stuff...)

This, I also feel like it’s kinda a disservice to people who do write fic that it’s the bad/mediocre smut that always gets focused on, it makes a lot of people see fanfic something only degenerates do, but even the smut is a hobby, that people do for fun, and a lot of kids learn writing skills from fic more than they ever would in school because they’re practicing. And no matter what it is they’re creating, the fact that they’re creating should be celebrated.

Ok, unfortunately, I know too much Mario lore that i have to explain a couple things. The reason why Wario is typing and sending emails is because in his game he's basically a game developer. Mona and Ashley are also game developers for his company. Also I hate the fact that whoever write that fanfic took Waluigi's flexibility, which is canon, to do such horrific shit lmfao. Also the reason why Wario and Waluigi get really nasty fuckin fanfics is because they're two nasty fucks who are also not actually related. as a serial fanfiction writer and reader i have some insider info: the bigger the fandom, the more fanfiction there is, and the more people there are, meaning the average quality of fics is going to drop. also, children (like 10-13) tend to flock to more populated fandoms because of the lack of general individuality you have at that age, so that also causes writing quality to drop. the majority of fanfiction (at least in my experience) is not sexual, and there are a Lot of well-written fanfiction stories! they are out there, i promise. but there are also a lot of bad ones. the ones this video showcases are actually mediocre at best; i’ve read many that are … way worse

I was gonna say, from my younger and stupider years when I read fanfic frequently, this was mid-low quality, definitely not the best, not quite average just cause all the grammar and spelling errors, but also by NO MEANS the worst. Usually media that is older and has smaller communities tend to have the best fics, even if they're sometimes lacking in quantities of it (quality over quantity tho amirite). I found even now I'll occasionally dabble because it's just fun seeing what people do with the characters, and usually it's really wholesome!
