A few years ago, around the time of my “reversion” back to the faith, I had a “dream” (I.e. more of a true experience) of being in the cleansing fires of purgatory. The souls there were crying out, “Only the Sea Star can quench the fire!” And immediately I somehow knew that meant I should start saying a Hail Mary. As soon as a did, all the fire was quenched with a cooling, soothing, water-like bath. After I woke up I googled the meaning of “Sea Star” and found out that is one of Mary’s names. I didn’t even know at the time.

I live in Aruba. 🇦🇼 As long as I can remember, we've always had a song dedicated to Mary Star of the sea. It's in the missal. But I never understood why we were calling Mary Star of the sea. I always thought maybe it had something to do with the crown of stars around her head. But I never questioned it, because like you said, Jesus often sailed with his disciples. So part of me thought it maybe had something to do with that also. Another interesting fact, is the name of a Nursing home for the elderly here that goes by the name "Maristella". No one that I've asked seem to know why it's called that. But perhaps it may very well be inspired by Stella Maris. Considering how another one was named after St. Michael the Archangel. In any case, thank you for finally explaining this mystery for us, Fr. Chris. These videos have been a great guide and lifeline that's kept me on the right path, ever since I've descovered your talks on KZbin and encouraged me to strive to do my best as a Catholic. I hope and pray that these words of wisdom find more and more people every day, especially those who have lost their way. May Mary Stella Maris guide them all back to the port of God and guide those who don't yet know him either to discover his wonderful love.

Talking of the fishermen with the dangerous jobs being so tough and going to work with their rosaries and miraculous medals my first though was, "Of course, who wouldn't go to such a dangerous place without their armor and weapons." My husband was exorcised when he saw Mary. He insisted that Mary's outer clothes (the veil and cape) were all blue, and the inner clothes were white. Most of the images of Mary wore white veil and blue cape. It was more than a year later that we discovered Our Lady Star of the Sea image when we were bathing in the sea. We saw it at a retreat house near the beach. On that day, it was coincidentally its feast day. My husband is a seafarer 😊

St Mary Star of the Sea was my childhood parish for 30 years. I love your teaching Father Chris that when we are tempted, when we are anxious, when we are in trouble we must look to Mary for our navigation. She is the IT LADY! I am reminded of FR Don’s recounting of when he was being chased by the evil one and from the depths of his heart, he cried out MARY, and Satan disappeared. Incredible! I never knew that purgatory was emptied on the Assumption. Father Chris is that why the monstrance we see used at the National Shrine has an eight pointed star? I often wondered about that.

Always wondered about the sea..My spiritual experiences are connected to the sea by the grace and wisdom of God. But I do not understand the depth of it. As an ex-protestant I am trying to increase my knowledge and love for my Mother the Blessed Virgin Mary. I have a story to tell about how I came to Christ in 2022. It is long but I'll try. It involved a dream in 2020 which I knew was a message from God. In it there was Lord Jesus who I did not dare to look at, a beach and a giant wave from the sea. I ran from Jesus and the wave, but knew that I would die. Then a lot of suffering followed physical and mental. Because of the physical issues I thought I was going to be well..gone. And I had peace with it. Then I started meditating on my roofterrace and the first time I felt grace in my life I uttered: Mother..(I was a pagan knew not why) as tears rolled down my face. Then I felt love and peace and mercy. When I tried to give it a name I uttered: grace.🙏🏻I was surprised because I knew this was a Christian word. I found the beach from my dream vision at about 10 minutes from my house. It goes even further but I can not share here. And the beach and the sea became my place of peace that remind me of God's love,mercy, might and glory. Every day I wanted to walk there with no shoes on. It felt so peaceful I once thought:'I could sit here all my life watch the waves roll by..' Fast forward after healing and peace like I never knew before. I felt reborn. Just as I was told when I asked God what was going on in 2020. I was given graces I knew not what to do with like knowing what people thought sometimes when needed. Animals just came to me and all the people returned my smile. I felt filled with love and peace. Then one night something else happened. As I prayed late at night at my roofterrace I closed my eyes, raised my head to the sky and prayed for my Lord Jesus. I had seen Him once before and He healed me once miraculously as I called His name. (i still...didn't become a Christian the 🤦‍♀️) So I always longed to see Him again since then. I cried many tears of repentance and as I opened my eyes a large dark shadow swooshed to my right. I had no fear or interest in any darkness and before me from the sky was aproaching the whitest, purest sphere of light I had ever seen. It was big and it had the most soft and gentle energy about it. It came my way but did not aporach me. Instead it slowly moved in the direction of the shadow. I just stared in awe wondering for more then 10 mins. Remember I thought: 'if I was in the middle ages I would have written down in my notebook that I just saw an angel.' Ofcourse my phone was full and I only managed to click nervously (with flash🤦‍♀️) and then I got a fee seconds of video as it moved away in the sky. Then exactly 3 days later: as I went to the same roofterrace to meditate and pray I struggled. Could hardly sit stil. But having a discipline I made myself SIT down. No shoes on, and the extra shirt I had I threw on my face to shield it from the sun. This is when I received a vision of the Lord. I was with my face at the ground before His feet before I even thought in the greatest joy of my soul: 'it's Jesus!' He is the most beauty I had ever seen, the best Friend we will ever have..He knows every one of us completely..Later I read revelations for the first time in my life and I cried because I recognized how John described Him there. Filled and overflowing with light! I will not go too much into the vision but I later found that ofcourse thank be to God it was 100% biblical. He communicated without speaking, I knew what He said and I was home. But the vision ended with us sitting at a mediterranean looking little beach and watching the soft waves. He knew my though when I wished I could just sit there and watch the waves and I am at peace. But with Him!🙏🏻🤍🕊️ After that I was a new person. I read and watch nothing that has not to do with Christianity. He is the core of everything that is good in my life. All Jesus. Even while sleeping. But yes, I always wandered about the sea...We see some of the most pivotal moments in the gospels play out at the beach, near or on the sea. Hm🙂I also am led to write a book that has the sea and the waves as analogies for certain things I lived and could share to help others with. Could it be it was our mother Mary leading me to Beloved Lord Jesus? Could it be that the sea in the gospels has something to do with Mary? God only knows. It is God's love which extends beyond our comprehension even through Mary. Mother Mary, pray for us.🙏🏻
