I have been wanting to create a smooth looking food cart that can be easily transportable. I love the look of not having borders all along the cart and you can make it with or without the vinyl. The build plans will be available on our Etsy store.

Are you using 1/2in or 3/4 laminate plywood?

how has the Vinyl held up I like the idea of it but my wife thinks it would get scratched easy putting in and out of our SUV with multiple events a weekend.

I love the look but, yeah I can see this getting nicked and causing some trouble. Especially with a lot of use, would have to baby it. Which doesn't always work. Especially multiple setups. So if you apply it even and get all the bubbles out, looks great. But definitely would have to be very cautious with it during transport always. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for your support. It is on page 5 of the plans. I used 3 with left overs. But it is not necessary and is optional. Sorry for the late response. If you have any questions I answer on Etsy or my website much faster. KZbin comments I check every couple of days due to the amount of videos I have and not all comments pop up on my dashboard. Thank you and good luck!

Hi, just curious on what you would do with extra plywood cuts?
@MakerDecor
@MakerDecor 2 ай бұрын
lol, yeah I get a lot of extras. If they are decent size I try my best to reuse them. If they are not worth saving. I cut them into small pieces at the end of the week to clean up.

How were you able to make the vinyl stick to the plywood. I didnt have any luck. I tried preoing the pltwood beforehand, sand smooth, clean, still struggled to fully adhere.
@MakerDecor
@MakerDecor 4 ай бұрын
Oh no, sorry about that. Not sure what would be the difference? Mine is still stuck to it and I know would give me trouble if I tried to peel it off. I didn't do anything special. Just peeled and stuck it on there. Maybe it was a different type, or they changed it now? Or the weather can also affect the glueing. I wish I had a better answer and let me know if you find out what the issue was.

@@MakerDecor it's just the plywood is too porous and not a good bonding surface. I was looking around the shop and came across a 3m multipurpose spray adhesive. Worked really well. Has a good hold, not sure how it will survive with change of weather but for now seemed like a good solution.

How does the 1/2" plywood handle the weight? Or would you recommend 3/4" instead?
@MakerDecor
@MakerDecor 4 ай бұрын
Hi, this handles it well. As its not really a lot of weight. I try to stay away from 3/4 as much as I can. Because the weight really does start to add up. If I ever decided to increase the weight support I would most likely try to add a middle plywood support from the bottom to the top similar to a cabinet. As it will help with increased weight with out changing the whole cart to 3/4 heavier material. But I do have other carts that are meant for heavier products mainly the cart with bicycle wheels and axel. This one and similar are not intended for extremely heavy items. Thank you and good luck

Also I was thinking of high gloss paint on bottom and vinyl wrap top. Have you tried that combo before does it match well or will it look weird paired together?
@MakerDecor
@MakerDecor 4 ай бұрын
@@alexkico4657 No I have not tried that combo. I think it may work depending on your painting skills and probably the colors you're choosing for the vinyl and the paint. But that would probably be kind of difficult to make them go together and look clean. I haven't done it so I'm not 100% sure. Sorry about that. I do have a KZbin short Where I make an ice cream cart. And I covered that one in printed vinyl words that say maker decor ice cream. It was pretty easy to make an image and have them print it on a vinyl. Think I paid like 80 bucks just for that one cart. So there's definitely a lot of different ways you can do. It just depends on what works best for you. Good luck!

How much of the vinyl did you buy?
@MakerDecor

I believe I used two 5ft pieces and a 4ft piece for the sides. I will tell you that I remade the sizing in the plans to bring it to 4ft long. As since it was closer to 5ft in the video. I struggled with making the vinyl reach all the way around the table top. But since I shortened it to 4ft wide, it takes less plywood and the vinyl should fit better. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!

@MakerDecor
@MakerDecor 28 күн бұрын
Thank you very much, but I would not guess the measurements as you build it. I have them written down along with step by step directions while you build it on my website and Etsy shop. The links are in the video description. But for the plans I have made it 2ft wide x 4ft long to make the build more cost effective. The one built in the video was 5ft long but with a lot more wasted material and cost. So I decided to change the length to 4ft which saved money and time while still looked similar. Good luck!
