Mark, this is a great set of videos! Both the camera views, and the explanations and tips! Thank you so much!

Great video, it really helped. I removed sensor on the hub and saved a bunch of time, good thing because it took a long time to beat the ball joint out even after I ground rivet heads flush. Also, I used mapp gas torch to get things to start moving

oh great I have to remove everything I did today to put in the lower ball joint. How fucking spectacular a day it has been! I can hear my dad talking shit already.

Same exact thing happened to me today. Replaced my wheel bearings just to find out my ball joints are bad too. Fml🤦🏻♂️

Can you do this this without removing the axle?

Why did you remove hub bearing assembly? Did you install new one?
@baileyclement47799 жыл бұрын
how did u get all the assembly out without taking out the tie rod?
@x-man50566 жыл бұрын
Use a brass hammer when striking a hardened axle shaft or use block of wood between them. dead blow hammer to get the hub/bearing carrier out .

Awesome job,.. but not recommended to use impact gun on axel nut for reassembly. use torque wrench for proper torque specs. Otherwise awesome job!

I am about to have this done to the front passenger side of my 2000 blazer 2wd. And I wanted to know if you could recommend a good name brand of inner/outer tire rods and ball joints.

Any reason you removed the bearings after using the pickle fork on the ball joints?

How did you get the drive axle to slide out? I used a gear puller and it still wouldn't budge.

I wish sometimes I had air tools !

is it possible to use punches to remove the rivets from the ball joints and is it necessary to undo the cv axle nut to do ball joints....im young and don't have air tools so trying to find out if its possible with regular tools instead of air tools....i do have a rechargeable impact gun though

I was wondering about the same thing; replacing the lower ball joint without removing the axle. From the video, I think is possible; you have enough room to unbolt the ball joint and pop it out with the fork.

When you say "gentle persuasion" on the axel nut, what exactly did you do? This thing I'm working on is busting my balls.

i know this is an old thread but when i have a seized up axel nut which i have and broke a couple 1/2inch drive craftsman ratchets on and even a breaker bar,I then proceed to use my trusty dremel with a heavy duty cut off wheel hopefully u are replacing the whole hub assbly. because getting to that nut you will also cut into the flange on the front off the assbly. cut the axle nut to just before you reach the threads on the axle then hit it wit sum penatrating oil and use a nice stout chisel give it a few whacks toward the way it lossens and she will break loose i find when already replacing the hub this is cheaper than breaking a tool cause i have a ton of cut off wheels and the nut itself is $7 bucks at autozone
