I used metal roofing and roofing nails with those washers. 30+ years and all still good! A little rust on galvanized metal but all still good. No leaks!

Hi Robert. Making a video while trying to get the work done makes the project take much longer. Well done on getting through it, very interesting and compelling viewing. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your project. Greetings from Ireland. 👍👍👍👍

Your choice of roof is absolutely the way to go ! BTW, they make those screws in stainless with a little "hat" that goes over the rubber washer, you run it down until the "hat" is against the metal- encapsulating the rubber washer , I used them on the pole barn

Looks great. But my grandson ask why does the van have a big SHOE BOX ON TOP. LOL
@RobertWitham2 ай бұрын
That's probably an apt description! LOL We're aiming to have it look a bit less box-like by the time we are done, but since we're racing winter weather some of the fine details are being bumped to the second phase of the build project.

I thought of doing this on my slide-out on my RV. I have seen it done with a small portable hand brake. You might think about that on the edges., you could take it up on the roof and use it.

The big nomad RTR will be in January in Quartzsite, are you going to bring your van there so everybody can look inside?

They could help him build it!

I have been quite a few times, but we didn't make it down last winter. We made it as far south as southern Nevada last year. We haven't really talked about this year yet, but it's certainly a possibility.

How will you prevent the edges of the sheeting from cutting you when you work on top of the roof?
@clarkleakins8792 ай бұрын
What are you using to cover/seal the sides/vertical? I would expect that to be installed first. Explain why you did not install the drip rail 1x2 edge flashing first? I would expect it to be under the roof material. Did you consider folding/basic sheet metal hem/lock the sections together? Did you consider using/applying fiberglass on the roof? Did you consider "poor man's fiberglass"? I hope you are coating that roof with Henry's sealant!
