DIY for REAR BRAKE LINES - BMW E91 engine N43

00:00 Intro
- As I stated in the previous episode, the annual inspection
was rejected due to bad brake hoses
- Problem was brake pipes from the rear on both sides
00:51 Rusty brake pipe screws will not loosen
- The brake pipe screw is stuck in the brake pipe and cannot rotate freely!
- When opened, the metal brake pipe rotates with it!
- This is a typical brake pipe problem!
- Doesn't open, no matter how hard you try
- I'll replace those metal brake pipes with new ones as well
- And the same problem on the other side!
02:19 Replace rear brake lines
- Press brake pedal down to floor and secure with pedal support
- This prevents brake fluid from emerging from the expansion tank
and air from entering the system when the brake lines are opened
- Disconnect brake hose from brake line
- Install new metal brake lines
- Remove the old metal brake pipes.
- First the shorter part on the left side
- Tighten the screw until the brake pipe breaks
- Detach brake hose from brake caliper
- New brake hose in place!
- New metal brake line in place!
- Left side ready! The same thing needs to be done for the right side
- The brake fluid line must be bled after replacing the brake hoses!
- Attach the brake pipe to one more bracket!
- Check brake fluid level
11:24 Rusted brake lines and result after service
- All of the metal brake line screws were rusted and
could not be opened without the pipe breaking
- Due to these cracks in the brake pipes, the annual inspection was rejected
- Result: annual inspection approved!

2 x 34306792253, Brake hose rear
1 x 34326853523, Pipe connection
1 x 34326853525, Pipe connection
Total cost with original BMW parts: 125,90 €

Great video! You really helped me out with the pipe for the right rear brake. Pipes with rusted and stuck bolts need to be replaced. You cannot take any risk with brakes.

If you bend the spring clips flat with some pliers you can then turn the 17mm nut while holding the smaller brake pipe nut still. The hard brake pipe will not get damaged. Then after you can fit aftermarket brake hoses with rotating end fittings. And fit new spring clips. Makes this job much easier.

Thanks buddy, working on a friends e90, managed to get the right side rear brake pipe to loosen after alot of hassle, ordered a new short brake pipe for the left rear as this cracked.

Doesn’t it require to do a full bleeding procedure on all 4 wheels? And do i need to release the brakepedal before bleeding? Thanks ❤

Hi there. What size wrench did you use to remove the brake hose nut to the caliper. I find it's difficult to get a wrench in there because or the rubber on the hose. Was it a narrow wrench you used? Thanks

Thanks for sharing, have this on my to-do list as well. Is it not possible to loosen the rubber brake hose by trying to turn its 17mm nut while holding the 11mm nut of the solid brake pipe in fixed position to avoid its twisting/damage ?
