A suggestion for those who do not sew you can use "Stitch Witchery also known as Heat and Bond fusible fabric" or like type product that once the heat of your flat iron presses it between the two layers of fabric it locks the two sides in place. Read each products directions for proper adhesion. May have a number of different names, but still does the same job. It is a fusible thin fabric bought at any crafts supply location. It also comes in sheets, as well, for larger jobs and can be used between two layers of fabric to make a fabric more stable and less flimsy as in placemats, etc. Many uses with a creative imagination. :)

Oh, my imagination is running of what I can use for different sizes. Love this. And yes, I will be trying it. I’m thinking of one holding vegetables for the summer and maybe have a piece of netting attached to the hat for bugs. Can’t wait to get started !

Very cute! As usual! 😋. I’ve done this with doilies also & fabric stiffener…. That would make a very cute girly” gnome garden hat. Added plus… the doilies shape well without pleats! Can’t wait to see your garden gnome!

@@SarahNenniDaher Thank You so much! Yep twice as nice for sure!LOL!!My hubby said that he will take me to Hobby Lobby and let me pick out what I want oh no that is a bad bad idea!!LOL! That's like giving a kid a blank check in a toy store😂😂😂. He is always ready to go to Hobby Lobby it's crazy!LOL!! But he is a keeper! We will be married 35 years this year and 38 altogether.

First off that hat is so cute and will be using it. I admit I am lazy so will water my mod podge down a little and soak my material in it then put it on the frame and follow your instructions to finish it. Thank you as always for your pattern. :)
@SarahNenniDaher2 жыл бұрын
Great suggestion! That method definitely worked with cotton fabric but didn't work with the linen. I'm not sure why but the folds (the ones on the hat portion, not the brim) didn't have enough on them, maybe? Not sure but they never would sit flat. :(

Oh yay, Marilyn. I'm so glad you liked this idea - it was the easiest way for me to make a hat and I'm surprised with how well they turn out with a little brim trim. Thank you so much for being here and watching along with me.

Sarah I forgot to ask you, what is the size of the hat and what size is the candle you used?, I just love the pattern .Maria R xx
@SarahNenniDaher2 жыл бұрын
It's about a 3.5 inch candle, but I recreated the same style on a much smaller gnome using a votive. :) You can use a bowl, a glass, or really anything cylindrical. :)
@heatherhohls23157 ай бұрын
Hi Sarah, will the hat fit your Scandinavian gnome pattern, need to make a gardening gnome for a 70 year old lady , love your fellow , but need to make it for a lady , maybe if I make the hat in a floral it mite look more feminine, Would really appreciate your input . Thanks Heather
@SarahNenniDaher7 ай бұрын
No, this hat is MUCH too large for that pattern. You can use the same process for a brim and place it over the normal hat on the Scandi Sweeties pattern (just add a stiffened brim). This hat would likely fit the stout gnome pattern (it's the short, wide body).

Wow Sarah you were going so fast , especially at the beginning, you almost lost me! This is too cute not to want to try.
