Good stuff- this was very helpful as I was told by a shop that the "power steering cooler" was leaking, but there is nary one of these to be found for ES350 on the interwebs . . . anyway, you may want to invest in a borescope. This makes the video work much more effective and accurate - it looks like you were using a head-mounted cam which makes it damn near impossible to get into where those hold-down bolts were giving you issues.

The larger A/C hose(suction / low side hose) which loops above the alternator usually has a large amount of condensation build-up when the A/C is used. This is normal but could be the source for the corrosion that occurred on your p/s pipe.

Yup, this part leaked on my 2004 ES330. Got it replaced!

One thing though you can reach it from the bottom with a small rachet. Just spray the bolts with a penetrating oil.

Just wondering if you ever found out if there are aftermarket part? I just jacked up my Lexus and I have a leak in the power steering hose. Thank you

I got a Toyota part. I don’t think there are aftermarket parts. Your one other option is to use a rubber hose if same inner diameter. I purchased the Toyota part from eBay

Negative about the fluid, their not the same, it’s like putting engine oil on you brakes reservoir.
@DIYDharma3 жыл бұрын
You can put dexron 2 or 3 atf into steering. www.clublexus.com/forums/es-1st-to-4th-gen-1990-2006/910602-power-steering-fluid-question-2005-es330.html. May be it is no longer available now so may need to get actual power steering fluid that Toyota recommends, but a few years back this was recommend. Besides, a steering rack is a long gear, kind of. Although I would not put atf in my Mercedes because they recommend a proper power steering fluid. But at the time, Toyota made no differentiation.

Why do you say that? I'm not a mechanic, and don't claim to be one; this is what DIY is all about. Bottom line is I found the right part, I replaced the hose, got my steering working again, and have put over 20k miles without an issue. Others have found this video useful, but yes, I could have done a better job in taking the actual video.

@@kathytidwell1682 The engine is the same but the location of certain parts like the coolant reservoir, AC compressor, etc. may be different. Also, the trans is different since the RX is AWD.
