1997 - 2001 Toyota Camry V6 1997 - 2001 Lexus ES300 - Power Steering Hoses
This video will show you how I replaced the leaking high pressure power steering hose which runs from the power steering pump to the steering rack on a 1997 Lexus ES300. This hose is a combination hose and steel line. In addition, the hose leading from the reservoir to the pump was replaced as well. Don't be fooled by some repair shops trying to convince you into paying for a new power steering pump. The most common source of leakage are dry rotted power steering return hoses where the hose spring clamps cannot maintain tension or is where the high pressure rubber hose meets the metal compression fitting. If the rear camshaft seals is leaking, what's directly in the path of the oil leak is the power steering pump. The repair shops will show you all the oil on the pump and tell you you need a new one.
