Great video. Definitely the best one available for parts, assembly, testing, and analysis. Thanks!

Very informative video Sir. Thank-you very much. Cant wait to trace this with Cam, Ign, and CKP sensors!

Hey that was pretty cool. Was very interesting. Thanks for going into the detail that you did. I'm kind of a Diag/ Scope nerd and I really enjoyed seeing different scope and equipment used for engine testing. A while back I used to check out that scope and wonder how it would do for this kind of testing.

Thanks for the video, it is very helpful. I already build one myself but did not tought about the banana plug connector, it was mad max style :) Have a great day

HI John, I too liked your video.The input to the second channel is a good idea as well. Using a standard dig. scope to monitor car sensors is a great servicing aid. So much cheaper than buying specialised car scopes. Could you please explain how you set up your digital scope so that it would trigger on the compression sensor signal and then freeze the display. Having trouble freezing the display with another brand of Digital scope. Regards George

John, on your waveform, I don't see the exhaust valve close. On another DIY pressure transducer vid by fixitmekanik412 I notice the same thing. I'm assuming this has to do with the transducer being used, possible the fact that it doesn't operate with negative pressure? It is extremely useful as a diagnostic tool but much more so when you can compare to known goods from waveforms produced by the Fluke PV350 or the WPS500, IMO. Have you noticed this in your testing, and if so, do you have any ideas on changes to the project?

the opening or closing of the valves would not be pronounced as this is a cranking waveform.

Got it! For some reason I forgot this was not running!

Just curious, why was the small battery hooked up then the 12 v?
@John76546-x4 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, the pressure sensor needs 5v. I was playing with different ideas. I ended up making them using 12v to 5v buck converters from eBay which are quite cheap. Then hook they to the car battery. Today I would probably make it more portable with 18650 battery and USB charger to 5v adapter from eBay.

Hi, why did you divide in 4 volts and not in 4.5 or 5 volts?

Thanks for sharing man. When I saw the price of Pico's PSW 500 Pressure transducer I started searching for a way to make it with a map sensor and found that some have done that as well. Does this Hantek DSO 1060 do a good job on automotive scoping? Does it offer triggers?

I got an idea I saw from other videos, you should try to make a co2 sensor to check for bad head gasket from a home co2 alarm?
@John76546-x8 жыл бұрын
I would like to do such a project. I have looked for possible sensors on ebay and google searches and not found anything I can work with. If you make something please share. I just think the money companies charge for some things is crazy when it can be built for pennies like this pressure sensor.

You should try with an MQ 135 sensor. It's good for checking head gasket and it requires only a 9 volt to 5 volt converter and a 9 volt battery. And you have at the end an analog signal. The sensitivity of the sensor is really good, it observes even the CO2 change from the breathing air. And it costs around 3 $.

John... nice video. I wonder if you by chance saw the 3 youtube videos I posted about the pressure transducer I made...lol. Anyways, big thumbs up. I like how you were able to condense what it took me 3 videos to make..lol Best wishes

+Edward Boers Thanks, I will check your videos out. Been awhile and need some inspiration to make some video and build some new things. Always looking for cheaper way to make something that cost a lot more.

I can't like this video enough! What did you connect the ground wire on the bnc cable to?
@murlecampbell83607 жыл бұрын
Where did you get the scope bnc cable at sir? Thank you....
@John76546-x7 жыл бұрын
I bought a cheaper BNC cable off of Ebay that had the alligator clips on it. That way the leads are separated already.
