It's made to last! After thorough playing the only thing I ever had to adjust were the buttons, which needed some retightening every once in a while. There is some weakness in the brackets that connect the two halves because it's the most flexible part. However, it won't break as long as you secure both sides while moving it. Even then, I've only ever had one of the screws break which was easily replaced.

How did you get those prints for the pads? You just print out paper and put it on or how does it work?

You are correct. I downloaded some high quality scans and printed them on card stock paper at a print shop. Then I taped them to the underside of the panels.

Good luck. The polycarbonate I used has some flex which might not be what you want for other sensor types - try acrylic instead. I decided to not add the bar, but my plan was to cut through the support layer and slide the bar's base to rest underneath the middle layer.

You could potentially use FSRs/force sensitive resistors for the sensors. They are used in a lot of 4 panel builds, mine included.

How much did this cost and how long did it take to assemble? I have a beauty pageant I want to compete in about ~12ish months and I really wanted to do a rhythm game for my talent potion of the competition! I think I may be able to assemble something like this considering my background with computer repair/programming. Also how much does this weigh if you don't mind answering? I have to know to see if I can cart it out on stage alone, LOL 😂😂😂

Thanks for watching. I made this on and off for about 2 months during the pandemic. Wood at the time was pretty expensive, on top of using some higher quality wood like the particle board that makes the entire flat surface. With this in mind, the dance pad is about 60lbs and cost me around $300 (give or take the materials you decide to use and special tools you might need). Instead, I would recommend ordering from "piudancepad" on instagram or facebook. They sell a soft mat that inspired this design and is also cheaper. It might skid if you don't tape it down, but you can easily play lvl 12 songs on it. Really my only complaint is that the controller is prone to being stepped on and breaking so I would recommend opening it up and closing the controller in a hard plastic shell. And if you are comfortable with wiring, then you can try changing the controller for the one in my tutorial.

Question. What software are you using to show that the pad works at 2:24?

Sorry for late response. This is the controller options menu built into the pc. You can find it under the devices settings when you plug in most generic controllers.
