I found a slightly easier method for getting the inner race started: with a decent size chisel you can wedge behind it and drive it out far enough to get the puller jaws behind it without having to cut a slot. Great video, saved me a bunch of time!

Best video I've seen on this so far, seems like the most efficient process too! One of my rears just went out during a road trip, making all sorts of great sounds lol. Time to replace em both

the only problem is when the drive shaft is so tight that the bearing puller breaks. Then it helps to warm up the wheel hub. To reinsert the drive shaft, it is helpful to cool it down with cold spray or to remove the entire drive shaft and place it in the freezer.

A little heat on that inner race will help get it moving. You'd need oxy-acetylene or even just a blowtorch etc, something with a flame to make it expand faster than the shaft its mounted on.

Hey so, I have a few questions.. can you change the hub without changing the wheel bearing? And if I need to change the LCA bushing at the same time, would it be easier to remove the entire spindle?
@6thGearGarage
@6thGearGarage 4 жыл бұрын
I can’t say for sure, as this is the only way I have experience in changing it.
