DIY Snail Egg Hatchery

I made this snail hatchery to hatch out all my apple snail (Snail Mega!) eggs:) This is just a little fun DIY snail hatchery so I am hoping to always improve it so please post below any comments, questions, or suggestions!

I used this to breed my mystery snails as well! Flipped the lid over so she laid on the indented side and flipped it back... Worked like a charm!

Interesting video. I enjoyed it. I hatch my snails out in a container like you used but use wet paper towels, rung out, in the bottom and dry ones on top of them and set the eggs on that. Poke holes in the lid and let them float in the tank until they start to hatch then used my fingers to rub them gently out of their clutch into a little grow out . Very easy.

Hi again my hatchery wasn't condensing so I put it on a stool (with little holes all over the top) over a sunbeam evaporator thing and now when I checked it was condensing, is it good where I put it?

Throughout the year since it is a controlled setting if there are males. Some can be infertile though

walmart has these little yogurt cups in their food storage isle that has fhe top cup for toppings and bottom for yogurt and it is literally perfect for that! i used it for my hatchery so i just had to heat up a screw to create the wholes for humidity! another option also they only cost $1.50

The bright pink suggests that these eggs are "bright pink Pomacea eggs", this type of snail has been crazy invasive and are outlawed by several countries.

Kristy Lee, yes they are all my channels but I am starting to try and reach out and get host for all of them because I cannot do all the work. If you noticed some of them do not even have videos on them yet and that is because I can't cover all the subjects by myself. Overtime I plan on adding the right house to each channel. The survival channel has a friend of mine "Daminh Tran":) Right now I'm only working on this channel and my home farm ideas channel. I post videos here every Friday and on my farm channel I post a new video every Monday l:)

yes putting warm water inside of the incubator is actually a good idea because it helps the eggs hatch out more quickly

Not this type. You need a male and female to get them to lay eggs:)

I guess you can:) You just need to make sure that the snails can get the humidity but your snails should not be able to get into the water because they will die.

Those snails (Pomacea canaliculata) have led to the banning of all mystery snails in my state. Down south the farmers grow rice and that species is highly destructive to crops. It’s led to the ban for all family Ampullariidae, including the nondestructive Pomacea bridgesii. Bad times...

the eggs will hatch in a wide variety of temperatures but the thing is if the temperature is too cool it might take 3 to 4 weeks. also as any other eggs they would hatch rather quicker in warm temperatures

if you want your snails to live longer i would recommend having the hatch lings in cool water

mystery snail is like saying beagle. Where is apple snail is like saying dog. there are a lot of different kinds of apple snail mystery snail it's just one breed of them that's why you see some apple snails that gets super big where mystery snails only get 2-3 inches.

+MsTokies, that is a great question and I will say heck yeah you can:) If it poops and can be used as long as they do not develop diseases that can harm humans like salmonella. I may make a little system to try it out because these snails eat plant waste which means you could feed them things like weeds and algae and skip fish food!

Hi Daisy:) It is common to crush a few eggs but it should be fine. Ideally you want to try and get them off the sides of tanks without breaking any of the eggs but just move forward and try to hatch them out!

Lets hope they hatch:) I would try and copy where you found them. A lot of times snails will lay eggs where they will hatch. I would not put them near a window.

With this one I do not think so. I had two that laid eggs and two that never laid. The two that never laid eggs where smaller then the two big ones that laid eggs:)
