Hey Gary, just discovered your channel randomly while looking up info on Trat, must say, love your videos. Love that you focus on street food, and enjoy your presentation style. I find lots of food bloggers kind of off-putting, trying really too hard or too over the top (i.e. like Weins), but you do a great job and your passion for the food shows, please keep up the good work. Anyways, I'm not writing to just kiss your ass, I have a suggestion - as a frequent visitor to Thailand (8 times over the last 25 years), I've learned to plan out most of my days in Bangkok by rail station. Motorbike is really not an option for me in Bangkok, and Taxi's are too unpredictable with the traffic. So I mostly plan out what I want to do, then see what MRT or BTS stations I need to access, then look up what food options I can get to near those stations. I feel like most people plan their time the same way in Bangkok. What would be great is if there was some way to find your bangkok videos by rail station. Maybe it's just a matter of putting on hashtags (#MRT-BangWa), or what might even be better is if you have a single google map with custom pins for all your reviews. Not sure what the best answer is, just a suggestion on a use case that might be helpful for your viewers. Anyways, keep up the great work, can't wait till I get back to Thailand again and hit up some of the restaurants in your videos!

Hey Kevin, I’m so happy you’ve found the channel and are enjoying the videos. I really like your idea, I was actually going to try and do a series where I show places to eat at every BTS and MRT station but wasn’t sure anyone would be into it. I’ll definitely look into updating my current videos with the hashtags for the relevant stations and see if it works. Thanks for the suggestion, it’s nice to have some constructive feedback!

The odd taro-like veg might be what the Filipinos call gabi that they use in sinigang

Just try Kang Tai Pla in vegetarian version it will not have the Tai Pal (fish kidneys) smell

Thanks, I’ll try it if I can find it. I can eat Tai Pla, it’s just not my favourite. I mix it with nam ya sometimes to take the edge off 😅

Lotus in Thai is (Bua) if I remember correctly. My Thai is slowly fading away as I have had few Thais to speak with for nearly two years in self-isolation. Hope to remedy that situation soon but with this evil virus circling the planet and flights being canceled by the thousands every day my chances are looking grim at this time.

Yes that’s it, bua is definitely lotus! I think Sandbox in Phuket is the only viable option going forward for the foreseeable. I really hope you can make it back out soon!

The southern place will be like warm unless they’ve just cooked it. The second place will be hit as it’s cooked to order

Hi Gary, I see that you like salty food, but please try not to eat too much, ok? My mother ate too much salty food, which led to high blood pressure, which led to her having stroke, TWICE. The 2nd one was massive, and she is now unable to walk, talk or eat on her own. She is on a feeding tube. I am not trying to ruin your parade, Gary, just a bit concern. The content is awesome, as usual, and I am so impressed that you are eating Pla Rah just for us. Bravo!

Thank you for your concern Panna and I’m so, so sorry to hear about your mum, that’s terrible ❤️ I do counteract the food by cooking my own every night thankfully. Lots of vegetables too but I do worry too! I’m just sorry that I could eat the plara properly. I will get there soon!

@@theroamingcook Thanks for the kind words, Gary. As for Pla rah, it definitely is the mental thing, but at least you tried. 🤣

The thing “like taro” was probably taro stems 😉

Any Hat Yao fried chicken there?
@theroamingcook2 жыл бұрын
They are from Phatthalung so maybe PFC! But there is some good friend chicken in the market nearby. It's hard to get proper legit Hat Yai fried chicken in BKK

That vegetable that was in the geang som is a taro stem. It’s very fibrous. I can’t eat it.

Thank you! It was really delicious. Like a sponge for the soup 😄
