I used to make the same type of mod back in the day, by the thousands. We had panilized PCBs and a pick-n-place machine. We used the 49LF020 PLCC back then. Good ole days! Great work!

Man, I love your videos. I have a weird love for the OGXB and my collection of consoles just doesnt stop growing. Seeing your repair/mod/refurb videos fills me with a ton more enthusiasm for these consoles. Keep the amazing content coming! Love from UK/Germany

@@johnphillips4783 warranty seals were still intact so the console was clearly never been opened prior to him opening it hence my comment. I’ve only ever had one Skeleton Xbox so maybe that’s why. Could’ve been different in Japan

Nice video, Just a heads up though, there's a much easier chip to build that doesn't require a programmer in the RP2040 tiny with the modzvilleusa interposer board. It also runs prometheos which can be flashed with 4 bios banks. You should do a video on one of these. Feel free to PM. The new gerbers haven't been released yet.

I wouldn't mind trying it out, but I don't see a way to PM you on here.

i flashed my bios by shorting the traces so the OG bios is well Cerbios heh but i was wondering as im tempted to build one of these myself, could the console use the one i build or the built in cerbios if i installed the made one?

I'm curious, if you have to touch up the solder joints after using the solder paste why not just do manual soldering, like drag soldering, in the first place?

I honestly just wanted an excuse to use the heat plate.

Can you flash cerbios to this too?

Whats the difference between this and the Aladdin? Or are those funtionally the same?
@legendofcho3 ай бұрын
Difference is 1MB Chip opposed to the 256KB one. So with this you can utilize a built in Xblast OS or PrometheOS to set multiple Banks to use for different bios including a recovery one if something goes wrong. If you TSOP a bunch of consoles you can also use this as a tool for consoles that are getting red ring due to a faulty HDD. Also since you now have a Modchip OS you'll be able to test Ram Chips when doing upgrades or many other tools.

I have four XBOX's and only the oldest (1.0) has leaked and it was only under the clock capacitor on the legs.
@RetroRenegadeRepairs3 ай бұрын
Pretty lucky. I think just about every 1.0-1.4 I've opened has had a leaky cap, though not all have had trace damage.
