The "All u need" clausen crew were very nice to me but getting product in a timely manner was like pulling teeth. I tried Feather fill and a couple of others and finally found the most reliable polyester primer out of them all and that is Duratec from fibreglast. Over $1mil worth of cars so far and so far with it and its the best I have used. Thanks brother Pete for the video. Like you,I am still keeping the faith. BTW I have a cabinet with a fresh batch of clausen stuff . God Bless You and Minnie!

I just bought a gallon off Amazon. My problem with dealing with Clauson directly is they will only sell the primer by the case (4 gallons) Excellent primer, but I didn’t need a case.

I’m sorry Clausen wouldn’t talk to you Pete, I talked to them about 15yrs ago to make sure their rust defender was compatible with another product I was using and they were very helpful. I’ve been using rust defender for decades and it’s never let me down. When I first started using it the cost was very reasonable-now it’s extremely expensive unfortunately. In my opinion their product is truly the best one on the market and it’s 86% solids. Years ago when I called them the guy had a lengthy conversation with me and explained that he thought it probably wouldn’t be long before their product was no longer available because of the EPA regulations etc. Orielly’s handles it locally but it’s really expensive. The only other thing that I don’t like about the product is how transparent it looks once you’ve sprayed on. You can have 10mils of thickness on the surface and it looks like you barely have coverage. That amount will sand and sand and sand; one application that it is extremely good for is anytime you have “crazed” paint and need to do a repair without taking the entire thing down.. it will lay down on that crazed paint and provide a foundation you can finish out ready to paint AND it will last! They must need some new customer service folks unfortunately but that product is rock solid 100%

I've been using evercoat super build 4:1 for years, it's a DTM polyester that works very well if you can follow instructions.

I completely understand you are saving materials by spraying only the repair areas. Is this a little harder than just regular 2k primer? Thank you kindly Pete!

Heck Pete, i would have never used poly before the last year or two. The MGA i just got done painting was so beat up and the extensive bodywork made me consider it. Man it was awesome. That beat up MGA is straight as an arrow. For me thats a win. And yep, i did the whole car cuz it was all junk! Hope Minnie and yourself listen to some Punkin Holler Boys now and then.... mostly hope you guys smile 😉 Take it easy buddy. Mike

Tamco DTM is so much better than G2. I’ve been using it for a few years at our shop. truly direct to metal, kills rust, much higher build than g2, more flexible and can be reduced.

Tamco is a DTM high build primer. It has its place for certain situations. Just like polyester primer does which if you want max build capabilities from a polyester then feather fill G2 is the ticket plain in simple. Like i said it depends on the situation

There is many good products in Australia we might buy, but it’s odd to pay $17.89 with $42.10 shipping. The can’t products there that we use everyday like 3M 2050 epoxy high build! They have never heard of it. The product has to go through government testing and approval the company pays for and can’t justify the cost. Same here, the cost for testing & approval with 27 layers is passed along with each can we buy! It would be simpler yet there are too many “Chiefs” that get paid and not enough “Indians” to do the work. Sure, everyone wants to make $90k per year but most of us after taxes take $46k home! We aren’t buying the high end products while married with 3 or 4 kids! God bless the actual working class who get dirty while working. I hate it when I spill shrimp cocktail sauce on my $1,200 suit at 2PM. Just how will I get home, without someone noticing? We rule. They eat buggers!

When I used to use polyester primer surfacer I used PCL brand recommended by my PPG store. I would mix it with acetone so it didn't go on so thick (only used it to fill minor imperfections and sanding scratches). (You have to increase the amount of catalyst by the same ratio if you do this). Later they recommended using PPG JP 35X (X is the color code) Multipurpose primer. It is a 2K primer) Per the material sheet I mix it with clear (to thin it) that they recommend to use it as a sealer. If I let it fully cure with that mix it works better than polyester as a surfacer for me. It is the one PPG product that if it says it has a 30 minute pot life at the recommended temperature you better be done and cleaning your equipment starting around 20 minutes! Usually actual pot lives listed give you extra time so be careful if you try this stuff! Just another person's opinion based on experience from many years ago.

Use Z-chrome three times 73 Firebird customer had it sand blasted and blasted all the gel coat off the parts Sprayed Z-chrome on them fairly thick to make them smooth again. 65 mustang to smooth out poor body work and a 65 chevy truck same deal poor body work. Needless to say i did not do the body work and they were not paying me to redo there body work but Z-chrome saved a lot of time and made it look strait. To bad there service is poor. I wouldn't put up there Sh@# either.
