Love your videos. I'm old...82years. And early attic (hand me downs, thrifted,etc) has always been my style. So i am so inspired by your diy, recycling enthusiasm! Love,loved your pebble art piece, and your stairway, kitchen redo...frankly all of it! You are just so clever. But this maze art piece is so clever...and gorgeous! Go, Danie, go!

This is SICK! Well done, girl! That looks like A LOT of work. Kudos to you for keeping up with it. My only issue would be having to dust all those tiny surfaces... Maybe keep a can (or 2) of compressed air on hand for that. 😉

I was thinking about that. You could have also hung it with the acrylic in front, although I do love the esthetic of this.

I thought the same thing! What a great suggestion! Dusting that would be murder but canned air or a blow dryer problem solved!
@movingforwardLDTH

My brain 100% added a piece of acrylic in the front, lol! In fact, I was brainstorming how one could make it so that it was a functioning maze w/some sort of moveable lever at the top allowing you to choose a path. Would use colored marbles or maybe wooden orbs (each stained in a different tint/tone/shade of a single hue?) would be lighter & cause less damage to the wood. Decided that the inability to remove the “errors” was rather Zen (there is no right or wrong; acceptance of things you cannot change, etc) and really appeals to me (who, like most old farts, has my share of paths that didn’t work out but it is all part of why I am who I am.). Ooo, would be even cooler if there were additional “choose a path” levers along, increasing the variations. (Lol, this is so me!). Now if I only had a workshop, some power tools … and the patience to actually manifest this. 🤣 Anyway, back to your point: Yes, dusting will be a bear, especially all those right angles … rather than blowing the dust away (canned air or hair dryer), which will just blow it into the areas just dusted, perhaps a better answer is one of those vacuum attachments for keyboards … but it is gorgeous!!!

That would make an interesting resin table project…also way to go on re-sawing, that’s definitely a confidence booster. I’ve been using re-sawn scrappy pieces for everything from plant stands to linen closet organizers to a coffee station. The things I expect out of every project are experiences, problem solving, confidence building and mostly fun. Going through the grits at the end is less fun than the time of pencil to paper.

Well, honestly, with the maze part alone taking two and a half days to put together (I'm guessing about 8-10 hour days, but knowing Danie, probably longer) plus the frame construction time and materials... all of that would demand a high sale price. And even that would probably not really feel it's a worthy price to own such a masterpiece!

I always look forward to you posting a new video, exciting to see what you've been up to. Just when I think it can't get any better, you pull another outstanding idea out of you golden bag and outdo yourself yet again. The stain on this piece is perfect, the intricacies of development as you look at it bit by bit trying to figure it out unbelievable. It's a place of mental tranquility and at the same time development. It reminds me of old traditional Japanese panels but with a twist, I love it. Incredibly beautiful and love the fact that the wall can be seen from behind it, it only serves to enhance the hard work you put into it. Finishing touch is the metal points, amazing.

if you were ever to do something like this again, i'd recommend printing out a grid/blown up image of your schematic to lay under the frame. that way the only big brain you have to use is cutting out your pieces! this might take more math at the beginning, but potentially you could also make sure all your pieces are in specific sizes (1 inch, 2 inch, 4 inch, etc) so you can count how many of each you need and saw them all at once and organize them into piles so you can just sit down and glue everything into place. beautiful work as always. i'm a relatively new follower (only been here since the secret double closet episodes) but i love your energy and your ideas are always so cool 🥰

Something in me is thinking that this kind of thing would be amazing for a studio or something. Would be a neat way to spice up the standard acoustic panels you see, plus wood is also a sound dampener. Maybe do everything as you have done, but fill all the "paths" with acoustic foam pieces? Have the foam height be lower than the walls of the paths so you have some 3d effect as well. Don't mind me, just using this comment as mental bookmark for potential future projects haha. Well done Danie, looks amazing!
