Since you're going with the walnut mirror, I think you should paint the dresser so there's not wood clashing right next to each other. Also, I have a question: it seems like you used to sit down to do your makeup at the old vanity table but with that built-in dresser you're putting in, won't you have to stand up to do your makeup? I've always found there are two types of people in this world: those who like to stand to put their makeup on and those who like to sit to do it. I wonder if you will enjoy becoming a stander?

I like the idea of leaving the dresser with the wood, no paint. I would go with walnut to match the super gorgeous mirror that you found, but I do just love wood so yeah

exactly, match the dresser wood colour to the mirror and if it's too much it can be always painted later. Other option would be painting the dresser to match the wallpaper and stain only the top desk part.

I’m sure you’ve likely already finished the project by now, but I would suggest a pull out “drawer” that is a counter top if you’re going to use it as a vanity. Then you can pull it out and tuck a chair comfortably under the counter. And alternatively, it could be used as a hide away changing table in the future!!

You should keep the dresser in wood to start with as it's easy to paint over but hard to go back to wood if you decide you don't like the paint. Plus a nice stained wood would pop nicely against the wall paper. :) can't wait for part 2!

Grrl! Love your vision for this space. So inspiring! I'd love to see the dresser stained a rich walnut like the mirror, with brass knob/details to pull from the sconces. Those beautiful jewel tones pulled into the space with a dainty vintage vanity chair, blue cushion, green leafy plants (if they would be happy in the space), and pops of red (I envision red cape cod Avon bottles with eucalyptus or other greenery). The wall sconces do look like the style we use in horse barns, they are usually black powder coated metal cages and about twice the size. Seeing a smaller brass sconce used in this is a perfect complement to your home’s overall farmhouse architecture.

Lovely episode Danie! My suggestion is painted navy-sh blue lower part, drawers etc with brass drawer pulls of course! And for the top matching walnut wood or a close fake of the color of walnut. And for the bottom that is hiding vents, wooden "oak" color bead board giving it texture with a vertical stripe. To give it a little "kick' you can cut out a few flowers and artfully put them on the drawer fronts Since this matches nothing else in the room I think new bedding in navy sheets with a soft pink duvet and alternating pink and navy pillow covers and a dark "oak" brown throw should help make the room cohesive without breaking the bank. Love your stuff D!

I would stain the top of the dresser the same color as the mirror. Then paint the bottom part of the dresser to match the background color of the wallpaper. Can’t wait to see it complete, whatever you do will look amazing!

LOVE that mirror - my vote is to stain the dresser to match, although this may be a huge, frustrating headache, so maybe you should just paint it! 😁 While I think stained wood would look great, and suit the mood of that room, when in doubt, do the easy thing! That paper is amazing. I would leave the dresser wood, and do a nice early American stain. It will pick up the tones on the paper and make the paper pop, but will still be balanced against it.

In my humble opinion you should highlight the wallpaper with a deep blue dresser and brass hardware to match the sconce. Consider brass corner hardware as it may have been on an old nautical or traveling trunk.

Hi Danie, great video, I like the structural conversion you presented. In tying in with your wallpaper and brass sconces (which are very nice), I would suggest getting the top of your vanity dresser to be the same color tone or wood as your vanity mirror's frame. As for the dresser itself, I would suggest painting it the same color as your wallpaper's background but accenting it with either brass or wood drawer pulls. I look forward to continuing this journey with you.

Happy late Birthday. For the color of the dresser, I would go with the plain stained wood, to fit with the rest of the room, or I would pick a color, like that leafy green from the wallpaper and ad bronz handels. I love the lamps. I really have a picture how it could look. Great idear. If you have left overs from the wallpaper I smell a new project 😉 These big flowers would make a great 3 D effekt (cutting them out and glue on to eachother with isolation tape, that one with foam).

Hi Dani you are such a visionary when it comes to awkward spaces . I love the wallpaper sconces and Mirror I think I would make the drawers walnut same as the edge of the mirror. The bedroom has a lot of wooden accents so wooden drawers would tie in beautifully. Can’t wait to see it all finished .

This is looking epic. With the dresser, I would go brass handles to match the light. as for the colour wood with similar staining to either the mirror or the wood in the picture it would ground the whole thing but it's safe. Or I would go the complete opposite a bright white or grey to brighten up the area. Keep on DIY'ing Danny.

I love all of it!! I think you should paint the dresser the same colour as the background of the wallpaper, let the wood of the mirror pop. It can be difficult to match a color stain to the wood mirror.

For the dresser, I've seen dressers that were partially painted and partially wood. Do wooden drawer faces and top but do a painted frame and do some brass handles for it. Promise it will look so gorgeous!!! But great diy build as always!
