I think that pile is fine out there. One day in times to come you may revisit the place and remove the pile. Right now you don’t have resources to drag it away. I read some people said don’t dump it but good grief you can’t do everything perfect for the arm chair quarter backs. IMO the pile can sit right there till another day when immediate projects are looming. Winter is coming and you have so much to do . I say good job you two. I just love you guys💕

Dearest ones, you have come a long way. You set goals and you've met them. You've worked hard and long, but I think your saving grace has always been your go with the flow attitude. That, 'it'll be okay' mentality can take you a long way in life. You've learned to improvise, become adaptable, and sometimes the changes that have to be made to accommodate something else can turn out beautiful. Still the hardest working people on the planet. I am so glad to see the chimney go. It was such an obvious add-on, and it completely spoiled the lines of the front of the house. I think the house is going to look so much nicer with the new windows and siding, I'm really looking forward to seeing that unfold. I think you can continue working on the interior while you're waiting for the windows and doors. You might as well do all the sister joists in the ceiling of the living room area, as well as adding thickness to the wall studs, wiring, etc. That way, once you've got the exterior completed, doing Maverick's room will go very quickly and the living room will be a breeze. You could even, if you wanted to, start hanging drywall and the like. I know you like to do things one room at a time, but sometimes it makes more sense to multitask.
@diyfferent5 жыл бұрын
We would love to work on this inside too but it really comes down to money. We had to spend a lot to buy the windows and door, and even more to but the new sheathing, wood, and house wrap, etc. So we just don't have the money to work on the inside too. That was why we had to switch gears, it was really one or the other without taking on too much debt. (not complaining or begging though) This is all fine, we are doing okay, working it out, and it's coming together :)

Loved the reverse action and slow motion on the chimney fall. Nice touch. Every time I see you risk life and limb I think TRACTOR. A metal pole down the chimney with chain wrapped at the top and a little pull from the old tractor would have taken that chimney quick and safe. That's not chimney scrap thats fill and should be placed in an easy to get at spot for a time when your doing a driveway or something then covered with class 5. Also get a ball and hitch for the tractor and pull your trailer with that so you don't ruin your car. Love the channel. Hope I don't seem hypercritical. Just tractor, tractor, tractor

I know you said it’s commonly done but I’m curious about why you would dump the old chimney on your property rather than hauling it off or starting a new dumpster load? Won’t you just have to clean all that mess up later?
@diyfferent5 жыл бұрын
One of the dumpster company's rules was "no concrete in the dumpster". Also, I actually don't even think the landfills are allowed to take concrete. We wouldn't want to pay to throw out concrete anyway, when it can be placed on our own land in a good spot out of the way. We won't be cleaning it up later, it's just concrete in an area that can't be used for anything with all the other big rocks and buried junk that is there anyway.
