I have a theory that Her Loss was originally meant to be titled For all the Dogs and this album was originally meant to be titled Her Loss, but Drake realized the optics may not have played out in his favor as titling this album Her Loss could’ve made him look too bitter, & titling the album with 21 Savage For all the Dogs would’ve made people say he needed 21 for street cred or something

For people who don’t know the concept of TPAB, I’ll give you a description of what the album is about. In the album Kendrick is basically saying in order to solve the issue of racism which is Lucy(Lucifer), the rich black people who are the butterflies have to shed light on the poor black people who are the caterpillars eating in the remains of society. Kendrick saying racism can be resolved if more black people work with each other. And Kendrick says on the album that the butterfly who are the rich black people have to be the most responsible in putting the black community in order & says the butterfly can’t be taken advantage of or pimped

I know exactly what you mean, but FATD is a good title and it actually makes sense if you listen to the songs. You right though, Her loss would’ve prepped people better for the music.
@troygardner822 Жыл бұрын
@@369pendulumIdk. I love the music on the album I’ve been listening to it non-stop. Aside from Teezo’s cut on 7969 Santa, and the random dog barkings on Bahamas promises, the only song/lyrics that actually fit the title was BBL love. Everything else was more of a ‘Her Loss’ message which I think clashes with a theme like FATD. You can’t be a ‘Dog’ and the one that’s being done wrong at the same time. Dog dudes are like ‘Chad’s’ they are unapologetically toxic and flaunt it. Again I LOVE the music sonically. But there are a lot of parts on the album I have to reimagine or lyrics I have to change in my head while I listen because some parts are honestly just too simpish. Like listen to this some of Future’s catalog and then come back to this album. It’s like going from a Dog to a puppy
@369pendulum Жыл бұрын
@@troygardner822 Bro he’s a dog and he’s dealing with hoes that operate the same. They’re dogs too. It’s not about who has the upper hand. The relationship dynamics he’s referring to are toxic from start to finish. There are no winners. What you said is a better stated version of what Joe Budden said, which is why Drake snapped on him, because you’re adopting his opinion even though you love the music. That critique doesn’t even make sense to me. Why does he need to be the bad guy? Btw, I understand what you’re saying, but that’s a critique of him as a man and not the music.
@troygardner822 Жыл бұрын
@@369pendulum I’m not adopting anyone’s opinion. I’m just giving my honest one. If it echos JB so be it, but that’s not indicative of being inherently incorrect so I’m not sure what point you made there. I speak well but I come from the streets bro. Like homeless with my crack head mom streets. I used to be a real pimp. My critique should make perfect sense to anyone who knows what a ‘Dog’ is and how they move. My critique also isn’t about him personally, it’s still about the music. I’m critiquing how well/poorly the lyrics actually fit with the album theme. I never said Drake was a simp, only that there are lyrics that definitely come off as simpish when compared to typical male dog behavior. That’s why I said listen to Future’s catalog a bit to see what I’m talking about better. I think you and others are really just sensitive when it comes to Drake, which clouds your judgement. You asked why he needs to be the ‘bad guy’…..it’s because a Dog is a villain. If you don’t get that then you don’t get what a dog is in terms of the street reference. Getting dogged out by the ho3s you supposed to be playin is simpish. Thats why you’re getting dogged out by them. If that’s an attack on him personally so be it, but I’m purely talking about the lyrics and album he put out. And lastly, don’t say you understand what I’m saying just to turn around and say I’m making no sense. That’s unnecessarily condescending. As far as how you can love music sonically but also critique the lyrical content…..imagine hearing devil worship music that has a really catchy beat, great sounding hook, but too many “I’m gonna sacrifice you for Satan” bars….i don’t know how else to break that down to you but yeah…..you can definitely like how a song sounds and still disagree with the message of the lyrics.
