In this week's episode of Rap Life Review, Ebro, Nadeska, and Lowkey share their thoughts on Drake's highly anticipated new studio album, 'For All The Dogs.'
The group dives into the music as well as the larger cultural conversations around the project. They touch on Joe Budden's take on Drake's recent lyrics and rap direction, catering more towards a younger crowd, which Drake responded to. Ebro shares his favorite tracks, which include "8AM in Charlotte", "Fear Of Heights", and "First Person Shooter" featuring J. Cole. Nadeska and Lowkey share their opinions on standout lyrics, top features, the evolution of Drake, and his future in hip-hop.

I understand where Low comes from but we should just accept Drake ain’t gonn give us a full rap album , he also said it that he wouldn’t do that bc he wants to mix it with R&B. This is a normal Drake album , I didn’t expect anything.

The album is just lackluster and mid like his projects 4 projects lol. Drake stans just eat it up. Drake can fart on record and it still going to number one at this point. He is not interested in making full bodies of work anymore. He has gotten lazy and refuse to grow and mature in his music. Him and Nicki suffer from the same issues. They need to grow tf up and stop catering to ppl half their age. There's nothing wrong in aging gracefully with your audience
@jh_1302
@jh_1302 11 ай бұрын
@@AngeBiampandou I personally understand it on both sides. I don’t think the same people that want him to “grow up” would actually take the time to listen if he was to release a mature album and then he would lose out on his younger audience. It’s sad to hear but the reason he’s still relevant and that we’re still having conversations about him is because he caters to the young audience but also different genres, can’t please everyone but that’s who’s driving his sales unfortunately.

Drakes music never really changed people are just outgrowing it. Especially the generation that came from the “take care” “so far gone” “nothing was the same” era . His fan base is getting younger each year. He caters to that early 20s relationship demographic. Lol we were all there at one point 😂😂😂😂😂

And i understand why. I think what no one picks up is J. cole verses/lines include a simile in every other line, meanwhile Drake verse on the first part uses only hyperboles. Cole only uses "Like" in his verse, meanwhile Drake uses "As" . It was intentional. They both wrote the song TOGETHER in the studio. I think whats dope about this album is taken at surface level it seems shallow, but there a lot of little minute details in it, that unless you paying attention youre going to miss it like the track titles, cover, lyrics, etc.
@theescorpio565
@theescorpio565 Жыл бұрын
@@Philosific the problem isn't really that though. You got J. Cole on the track talking about rappers/the rap game and Drake talking about women. The song isn't very cohesive, and I even liked Drake's verses on it. But after sitting on and listening to it in the car, the song is a bit of lyrical whiplash. Makes no sense and seems like they weren't even on the studio together when they were.

Can’t be mad at Drake for not making the album YOU want him to make. Sure if he really wanted to he can probably hone in and make an album with straight bars but he doesn’t want to do that. He’s trying to appeal to a younger audience. It’s his prerogative. He still sprinkles in some tracks that we in our 30s can appreciate. He’s got nothing left to prove. He’s just having fun and enjoying life. Let him live.

The main reason drake’s music hasn’t matured is because of the rate at which he puts out music that cash money/young money formula isn’t set up for artist growth it’s purely for financial growth…cool This is the reason we saw more growth from Kendrick and Cole than so drake in both skill and artistry because they were allowed to live life, digest it and turn into something artistic. Drake hasn’t had that. But it also makes you wonder if he had took his time between his albums would he still be viewed as #1 vs #3. Because he still doesn’t have a classic?
