Both awesome but for me, I have to sick with the 2 pro because I shoot mainly in daylight with ND filters, I have to constantly adjust the AP. 2.8 on a sunny day on the 2 pro washes things out but has the most detail as the sensor is wide open, throw an 32 or 64 ND filter on it and the pro lives up to its name

I'm a backpacker and love hiking long trips, I had the original mini for a year now and loved it, but the lack of raw photos, and feature limitations has been killing me. I do it as a hobby but needed to upgrade, and I've been considering everything from the mini 2 to the mavic 3. on a budget and needing to go on a trip next week, I can't wait for the mini 3 and the air 2s just seems like a phenomenal option for someone like me who walks a lot and can't trek around with something so heavy. thanks for the phenomenal review, I'm really confident in my purchase! can't wait for it to arrive in 2 days! :)

Oh nice!!! Sorry about the lockdowns. I have a lot of friends in Thailand and it’s been tough for them to get out much. For me I’d go with the air 2s if you want a mix of traditional drone work and filming yourself stuff. If you primarily want to film yourself then Skydio all the way.

I looked back at my videos taken when I owned the M2P and find that the color surpasses the Air2S. Just my opinion.

It's definitely different and a large part of that has to do with the Hasselblad name and their color science being implemented on the M2P.

One very important feature of the new lineup of DJI drones (Air 2, Mini 2) that I would add is the new controller is considerably better. I wouldn't get the old Mavics because of the controller alone! The screen is on top now, which is much more convenient. The battery I believe is 2-3 times larger. What's the point of having many flight packs, if the controller dies first?! Also, all of the sticks have more travel, making shooting smooth video considerably easier. The vertical gimbal wheel is much larger, and has more travel. Made a world of a difference to me, shooting professional videos. Also, in my opinion the DJI Fly app is much more intuitive and pleasant to use than the DJI Go4.

i actually have both of these drones. I really think the old controller is better, not because its better at ergonomics or battery life, but because of the display. Ive been saved on numerous occasions when i lose video signal from the drone, and have to rely on the display on the controller to get home judging by the distance from home and the height. That being said, i am still sticking with the air 2s as my main drone because of o3 transmission - i have to worry a lot less about disconnects compared to the m2p.

Very well done and informative. Sold my Mavic 2 pro for 820€ and just had to invest approx. 250 € for the Air2s, batteries and loading station. Would not pay much more for the small better issues, but just investing 200-300€ for a new drone with increased technology is worth imo. But sorry think I have one critic point: you say the mavic 2 pro is easier to fly in windy conditions. Later you say that the air2s is more stable flying/hovering. Isn’t this contradicting? Or didn’t I get what you wanted to say within this issue?

As an overall package and if you don't need to be under 250g I think air 2s is still one of the best if not the best.... as a good all rounder, price, ease of use, the way it flies, picture quality, size/weight etc. Any predictions for the air 3?

Thinking of picking up an Air 2s to compliment the pro 2,so,do you think it worth having both? also if you use the Air 2s with the smart controller ,are you losing out with the benefits of Ocusync 3 ?

Hey anthony, I use the air 2s with the smart controller almost exclusively now and it works very well. I haven’t noticed anything aside from a little extra lag every now and then that would make me go back to the standard controller. If you have the pro 2 the air 2s would be kind of redundant since they are quite similar and the pro still has the advantage of the variable aperture. Now if your pro is starting to falter then I’d definitely get an air 2s to replace it.

Hey Markus, I'd highly recommend the Air 2s, I live in Alaska (where this was filmed) and fly my air 2s in extremely cold temperatures. as cold as -25c so far with no problems!

Exposure can be changed with ND and shutter not just iso as video states

Shutter should really only be used to change exposure for photos. Video you want to keep the shutter speed 2x the frame rate. Nd filters are a must and can be used however you will end up using ISO changes to get proper exposure when conditions change unless you want to land and change the ND filter for every shot.

For most drone shots you can adjust shutter a bit here and there as the 180 degree rule isn’t as noticeable with such distance to motion. It’s a shame you can’t adjust f stop, order lots of ND options !

5.16 more refined controls. Yes! I fly both of these. I get MUCH better results and far smoother shots with the Air 2s. With the Pro 2, a great drone, I often end up having to retry complicated shots and the sensors often ruin shots for me. The experience on the Air 2s is far greater for me. Variable aperature would have been great. #DJI needs to slow down the CINEMA mode and this camera will be the best yet. I hope they do that soon.

Occusync is a marketing term for software that DJI has created for the hardware they use. It’s basically a communication protocol that they wrote. So they can add functionality to either one but the software while different uses essentially the same hardware and thus they can be compatible

After many reviews i sold my mavic 2 Pro and bought air2s. Impressions are terrible! Air 2S is compared to Mavic 2 pro is piece of sh*t. I Bought it and returned the same day! I am very disappointed!!! it just can’t even be compared. Application is better with mavic 2 pro! M2p flying abilities are incomparable. 03 is ridiculous... after 1 kilometer I lost the signal several times! If you want a drone for fun buy a mini 2. if you want the right thing buy a Mavic 2 Pro. The king is still on the throne! 🤴
