Many years back Arducopter open source and associated APM and Pixhawk flight controllers had just about everything required to power Drones as well as anything DJI today, minus the big integration of Camera and Sensors of the day. You'll probably get a message from DHL stating you need to send a photocopy of your drivers license and Social Security card then end up paying a 25% import fee. I just went through that 2 months ago. Thanks to DT tariffs I had to pay an extra $300 on an $1,100 item which had origins in China. It's not countries that pay the tariffs, it's you and I.

That's not how it works in real life. It is the fact that the money people get for their job is just below any standards. 90% of the drone is machine built, the rest is manual and that's what they are probably talking about. You do t need anyone well payed to put those things in boxes. But the other reason everyone should be aware of is that it is a Chinese product which can be used for spying. And China is indeed in a state of war with everyone. So there's that.

No they don't, no U.S company can compete with dji and therefore they want to ban dji to help their own companies. Its not privacy nor slave labor- think about apple, nike and those companies, are they clean? Probably not... are they in trouble? No. They are high performing U.S companies. When a Chinese company makes a product(s) that no U.S company can compete with in a certain industry, they look to forcibly suppress it. Huawei is an example.

I ordered the Mavic Air 3S the day it was released and received it yesterday from China / DJI HQ via DHL. Other than it being delayed one day because of DHL. It appears the ban at CBP is not being enforced yet. Finally got ahold of a real person in the USA that works for DHL in their import department - she said that she knows of a few of the SSN/EIN requests for the DJI Air 3S so far. She says it's random. I told her what's going on, that some bad actor is using Customs against DJI to mess with them, and that she'll see many more of these. Anyway, I sent her my EIN, and hope that actually makes the Air 3S clear Customs for me. We'll see. Got a feeling it will still be trapped in limbo. She also told me that "Shipment on Hold" on the DHL app doesn't necessarily mean Customs has it on hold, it means they, DHL, are merely delaying delivery by a day. She said my NEO, a separate shipment from the Air 3S, did make it through Customs and will be delivered tomorrow, even though it shows "On Hold" right now. All of this is just making me want to buy more DJI stuff out of spite. The Avata 2 I've been putting off purchasing might just have to happen sooner, rather than later.

I ordered a 3s on the 15th. Its been sitting in Cincinnati since the 17th waiting to clear customs. Shipper states they need "full name and address of manufacturing facilty" before able to clear customs and deliver. Ive reached out to DJI to provide info, which they still have not provided. DHL, the shipper, has notified me that if info is not provided by the October 28th, then drone will be returned to DJI.

Same with me.. however all the shipping updates show movement within CHINA. Once it leaves China by air is when you have to watch what happens and the DHL air shipment lands at a port of entry within the US. My DJI Air 3S is held at customs. Claimed it was because it was valued at over $2500, which is Bogus. Demanded either my SSN or EIN. I provided my EIN, then noticed that I had to provide IRS documentation of that number. The notice came from the shipper, DHL. There was no way to add additional documentation after I clicked to send, so I’m waiting on a response.

I would think that if someone waits until the drone has shipped and then it hits a snag (i .e. delays) then DJI might not issue a refund since it’s in transit ?

I think Customs is still holding drones and preventing on time deliveries. The only thing that came on time was accessories for the drone.

I just got a Monday delivery confirmation as well. Hope all is well…..I feel that some of this is blown out of proportion..I think some information leaks out in bits and pieces, after that it’s all assumptions and I think that’s where we are today.

Just like speeding. Not everyone that speeds gets a speeding ticket. But if you drive a bright yellow Corvette, you perhaps more likely to get one. Flying under the radar avoids such problems.

Ordered Air 3s 2 weeks ago 2 days ago got email from DHL stating that drone would not clear customs I contacted DJI for a refund, I'm hopeful that I will be able to get one at a later date.

We have the forced labor sniffing dogs here, they will sniff your drone and determine the nature of how it was built but to be honest I have no idea
