I think the only word of caution I have for all KZbin reviewers of this drone is that when we’re demoing it especially for those new drone pilots we have to ensure that were always keeping in mind safety and conveying that message to new drone pilots. Powerlines probably best for new pilots to stay away from them as much as possible as they won’t have the experience. Also visual line of sight yeah I get it we’re trying to see how well this performs for such a small drone however we have to also take into consideration that there’s going to be a lot of new people searching KZbin and looking for tutorials and tips. We just wanna make sure that we’re always keeping safety and common sense number one. Cheers Love your videos keep up the great work.

Nice flight. I guess it would be good to remember that if you fly with the wind into the distance then you have to fly against the wind to come back. So don't go too far with the wind!

I also have my Mavic Pro and it works perfectly fine, however for traveling when you also carrying camera gear and a gimbal, then the drone is too much additional weight, this solves that issue :) Still the image quality is not so good but then for the price and size, there is nothing better in the market

I ordered mine from DJI last week, was going to buy the Evo, but at half the cost I think the Mini is incredible. This is my first drone too, I have zero experience with them. We are getting a new county jail about 5 miles down the road. I hope it doesn't shut the Mini down and keep me from flying. Thanks for sharing!

It's definately not a toy, everyone doesn't need 4k video, like their filming a movie, and they don't want to edit on a computor. The new app lets you edit and share on social media right away.

"Toy" has become a term we use to discredit a drone we don't like. Take Zino with it's similar specs, more automated flight modes and 4k camera but nearly everyone calls it a toy.

Youre wrong nowadays most drones use wifi transmission signal. Even the mavic 2 pro has it 2.4 and 5.8 swithcing frequencies

Nice video, and while the Mini's settings are very limited you can actually lock the exposure to stop it jumping around, it's right there next to the EV compensation...

It's just incredible how well this TOY handles the wind and the distance. I initially planned on getting the mavic air and considering the price and restrictions that I'd face with the air, the mavic mini will be perfect. Even for Japan, I'll just bring it without batteries and buy the Japan specific ones in order to meet the legal requirements there.

Just bought the same TOY ....altough sadly they dint have the combo atm. So i got the normal option without combo. I must note be aware there is no wallcharger no charge hub no propguards and just one baterry pack. The white cable they include the micro usb looks diffrent from whats needed altough next to the input is indicated how it go's in. So i gues they combo option on this TOY is nice! And no travel case...

I'm done with my practices with this cheap ass Eachine 88 so I got me the sg906 pro2 to get use to fly, it flys well but it doesn't go high altitude and far long distance so I need to up grade thank man you show me everything about the drone I'm going to get me one wow it flights sharp. 👌

It is more than a toy. The mini was not designed nor intended for people that already have every single drone Dji has made. It is intended for new folks or people that don't want to or can't buy super expensive drones. It does look good and I am replacing one of my Spark fly more for the mini.

Only grip is the controller. Theres no usb plugin underneath like on other mavic controllers so if you want to use another device besides your phone you HAVE to buy a long micro to micro or micro to usb cable from somewhere else

the fact that you never once pointed the antenna at the drone, you should be amazed that you got the distance you did. I've just got mine, waiting for the morning to do my first flight, but one video from Hawaii has it flying out over two miles before the battery hit 50% and they had to return.

Now, I’m pretty good with drones and to be honest I’ve seen many people crashing mavic pros and even mavic 2 pros (a friend of mine) even with all the sensors that comes with them, that’s what worries me considering this for new pilots... It won’t be easy not to crash it because no there’s not sensors at all, that’s when I scratch my head thinking on those new pilots figuring out directions when obstacles are in the way. Everyone saying this is a toy.. I don’t think so, imo.

BUT - after looking at all the reviews, I finally ordered one yesterday. I ordered the fly more combo. That small case is just the perfect size to fit in the trunk of my motorcycle. I will be carrying it every time I take the motorcycle out. It is supposed to be shipped on the 11th and I am supposed to receive it on the 14th.

Billy, i had a problem with Mavic Mini. I'm from Tuvalu, a remote island in the south pacific. Its a tiny island and i mostly do documentary work on Climate change and its impact on my island. I discovered that Mavic Mini does not fly in a restricted zone. The funny thing is that, Mavic Mini is not listed in the DJI Custom Unlocking Application site. So there is no way you can fly the drone in the restricted zone. I contacted DJI and they said that their technical team is working on a firmware yet to be released later in December to address this issue.

A part of me wishes I had ordered this drone first over the Air. I'm new to all of this so there is that but, the price of the Air Fly-More is a bit ridiculous imho. Not to mention it's off in TX right now because it came out of the box with an intermittent "Foward Left" sensor issue that a couple of resets with firmware updates + calibration (x2) could not fix. And lastly, the Air is SERIOUSLY loud. Kinda wish I went this rout as I don't have huge plans for the Air (as of yet) and the noise / battery life / sensor issues straight from the factory has me wishing I could return it (I'm past the 14 day grace period?). Whatever though great video man!

I had been flying the old GoPro Karma with a GoPro 6 for a couple of years until it was stolen from my car earlier this year. I have a photography company and wanted to take this opportunity to upgrade to a Mavic 2 Pro for some work I've been discussing with some clients, with the intention of also using for capturing my own family moments (camping, hiking, beach, etc.) As I have been studying for the drone license in Canada, it became apparent that using a Mavic 2 Pro for capturing some quick footage while out on a hike is not practical for reasons such as: carrying manuals, logging who is flying, having your flight plan and emergency procedures accessible, etc. I'm still going to get a Mavic 2 Pro, but I don't want every shoot I do with my kids and dog to be a big production. I want to pop the drone out of the bag and fly for a couple of minutes. For that reason and portability and cost, Mavic Mini seems like a no-brainer for the family. GoPro Karma was a dumb, fully manual drone, and I had a lot of fun flight time with it. with that experience, flying the manual mini should be a breeze.

My Mini takes great videos except when I pan. Up, down, right, left...no problem but when I pan the video is jittery. It's even jittery when I look at the screen on my iPhone while filming. I have tried both 1080p and 2.7K with varied frame per second and they all give me jittery video pans. What causes this and how can I eliminate it?

You can do manual exposure. Super easy to do. Defo not just a toy. Most KZbin videos are saying they prefer this to their mavic pro purely because of cost and portability. No idea how you think it’s 16 to 20 minutes, literally every other video says they get 24 to 28 minutes flight. Think maybe you should do a new review.

Great first flight video Billy, I purchased my Mavic Mini on launch to complement my Mavic Pro Platinum. I am currently awaiting delivery here in Canada. I emailed DJI support on launch day after purchasing my Mavic Mini to enquire about future Crystal Sky support, apparently, their software engineers are working on Crystal Sky support and that will arrive via software and firmware updates in the future.

A possible Technical reason for not having 4k is required processing power, which in turn means more cooling needed and drain on the battery. After all, it is tight for space and weight.

As Daniel Morin said, it is probably also a technical reason for no-4k. 4k needs a lot of processing power. That equals heat and energy consumption and more expensive processors. 1080/30 1920*1080*30 = 62.208.000 pixel/sec 1080/60 1920*1080*60 = 124.416.000 pixel/sec 2,7k/30 2720*1530*30 = 124.848.000 pixel/sec 2.7k/60 2720*1530*60 = 249.696.000 pixel/sec 4k/30 3840*2160*30 = 248.832.000 pixel/sec 4k/60 3840*2160*60 = 497.664.000 pixel/sec

Got mine on order, should have it this friday. I know the auto exposure is a bummer, but I haven't seen anyone mention the auto exposure lock yet. With my spark I used it all the time and got some cracking footage.
