@@warfare20111 your right when lowering it will disconnect, but maybe use 2 controller's, swap battery have second controller lift it up to max height then have controller 1 take over.

Next time you might preselect a landing spot to set the homeport at the start, autopilot. Like longer & longer races...Though IDK if it'd be any safer. My CBO doesn't allow us to visually observe that way. Some channels have driven the drone down the road but with the drone tied to a pole & no-propellers(not flying beyond VLOS).

The range depends on surroundings, frequencies around you, height, weather, and so many variables. If you are getting such a short range, you may want to send it in to DJI for a diagnostics check.

Not sure why you guys didnt show us the recording so we can see the actual range and signal. Whats the point of showing the recording from the drone. Smh. Yeah you put the screen recoding but its minimized and cant read shtz. Should show full screen screen recoding so we can see the range and signal.

Great video. I have the Mini 3 Pro and the stock controller is terrible. I did a mod to the controller that added external antennas not for distance to improve drop outs that I was constantly having. What settings are you using as far as the frequency goes. I flew down in Ft Lauderdale a few months ago and wasn’t happy, but then again that was before the antenna mod.

Hi Lance, thanks for watching. We kept the frequency at the factory default settings and rarely change them to another band. The distance on the Mini 4 compared to the Mini 3 is night and day, but you should still be able to get a pretty good distance with the Mini 3. If you went behind a large building or had a lot of trees, etc in the way, it can affect the signal quite a bit. Let us know if we can help in any other way. Have a great day! - Chris

I just got the mini 4 pro from Costco and your remote looks wildly different than mine. So is that the RC model? If so, should be labeled as such on the title.

We used the DJI Mini 4 Pro with the RC 2 that comes in the package that we stock and sell. We do not stock much of the remotes without the built in screens. Having the freedom of not having a phone or tablet connected to your remote makes a big difference in the flight experience. Fly safe and have fun!

I just got one, and at about a mile out it starts losing signal and definitely can't see the feed so I have to hit the home button is there any type of fix for this?

I found it humours that they kept visual line of sight for the test but of course you have to follow the rules when making the video and good for them. But let's face it 90% don't get a drone and maintain visual line of sight, myself included. I just laugh at the people that then complain about individuals not following this rule but then I am sure they jump in their car and drive over the speed limit. Just seems the visual live of sight is all anyone wants talk about.

what sux a bit about the 12 mile radio range is that it cant go out and back much more that 3-4 miles in great condition due to batteries . so buy a half priced drone that only has 2-3 mile radio range gives you similar real life range since it can use nearly all of it . until batteries tech catches up with radio range theres little to no point in having 12-15 mile range

12 miles is in ideal conditions. In a highly dense urban environment, you're not going to get better than 3 to 4 miles anyways. Range is nice, but penetration is better.

@@dru4135 Great question. If affects anyone operating in a government position: Police, Sheriff, EMS, Fire, State Patrol, or any government entity. We sell US made drones from Teledyne, Parrot, Teal, and Inspired Flight which meets all Florida rules for drone flights. The general public or any private citizen, in Florida, can still fly DJI all day long.

The rules and regulations you are wrong with. You bring up the fact you have multiple observers so its okay but thats not the case. Per the FAA "To maintain a safe airspace and surrounding area, any drone or other uncrewed aircraft flown in the U.S. must perform operations within visual line of sight of the operator, per FAA regulations." Also you broke another law "SB 766 // 2015 This law prohibits the use of a drone to capture an image of privately owned property or the owner, tenant, or occupant of such property without consent if a reasonable expectation of privacy exists." You guys recorded so many private properties and there is no way you got all their consent. Its odd you did not even bring this state law for Florida up.

Whenever you are ready to take your Part 107 test, we would love to help prep you for it: SB 766//2015 is preempted by federal statute and is voided for commercial operators licensed by state or federal entities. Aka PART 107 pilots. See Subpart (4)d. (4) EXCEPTIONS.-This section act does not prohibit the use88 of a drone (a) To counter a high risk of a terrorist attack by a specific individual or organization if the United States Secretary of Homeland Security determines that credible intelligence indicates that there is such a risk. (b) If the law enforcement agency first obtains a search warrant signed by a judge authorizing the use of a drone. (c) If the law enforcement agency possesses reasonable suspicion that, under particular circumstances, swift action is needed to prevent imminent danger to life or serious damage to property, to forestall the imminent escape of a suspect or the destruction of evidence, or to achieve purposes including but not limited to, facilitating the search for a missing person. (d) By a person or an entity engaged in a business or profession licensed by the state, or by an agent, employee, or contractor thereof, if the drone is used only to perform reasonable tasks within the scope of practice or activities permitted under such person’s or entity’s license. However, this exception does not apply to a profession in which the licensee’s authorized scope of practice includes obtaining information about the identity, habits, conduct, movements, whereabouts, affiliations, associations, transactions, reputation, or character of any society, person, or group of persons. For the visual observer statement: The procedures used to provide a safe test environment were vetted by multiple FAA Safety Team personnel and Faa officials. If you read the FAA part 107.31 regulations it states clearly that the responsibilities must be maintained by “Either” the VO “or” PIC. See 107.31b(1-2) (a) With vision that is unaided by any device other than corrective lenses, the remote pilot in command, the visual observer (if one is used), and the person manipulating the flight control of the small unmanned aircraft system must be able to see the unmanned aircraft throughout the entire flight in order to: (1) Know the unmanned aircraft's location; (2) Determine the unmanned aircraft's attitude, altitude, and direction of flight; (3) Observe the airspace for other air traffic or hazards; and (4) Determine that the unmanned aircraft does not endanger the life or property of another. (b) Throughout the entire flight of the small unmanned aircraft, the ability described in paragraph (a) of this section must be exercised by either: (1) The remote pilot in command and the person manipulating the flight controls of the small unmanned aircraft system; or (2) A visual observer. Please Reference AC 107-2A Section 5. For further clarification.

FAA regulations state an observer must maintain VLOS at all times *and* must be co-located with the pilot and in constant communication. You had 2 out of the 3 requirements satisfied. Do you feel the regulations don't require the observer to be physically next to the pilot?
