@@DLMtechgarage *thanks for the reply !* Before you got back to me, I unfortunately found out that the 'y splitter' plan would not work. The PWM signal would only go to one fan. I also can't run my computer for long, I have to keep the side panel open for air flow (the Molex cable to run the front fan has not come yet). As well as the double whammy of me not being able to get a fan quieting cable, so I just had to buy another fan (that I also have to wait for). The nice thing about the Dell Precision T1600 I have is that it came with a regular 24 pin PSU. It does have the proprietary fan headers though. I got around my RX 580 not fitting in the case by getting a PCIe riser cable and 3D printing a GPU stand for the outside of the case. I also bought a new EVGA 650 watt, semi modular PSU to replace the original 450 watt. I had to temporarily put my HD7770 back in for now because I am afraid of my "curious kitty" playing with the cooling fans which I caught her doing once before. I heard a "brrr...brrrr" sound and when I looked, she was playing with the CPU cooler fan! Luckily, I didn't connect the 580 with its MUCH bigger and faster fans at the time! That may have hurt her paw and I'd feel REAL BAD! Maybe I'll de-rivot the HD holder in the case to make the 580 fit inside or just buy a different case or...just put the whole PC in a room and make sure to shut the door behind me when it's on...🤔😁 Nice video , by the way! 👍👍

@DLM... i bought the 8-24 adapter. When plugged in, the CPU fan spins @ 100%...and it doesn't post. Have you ever experienced that before? Using a Precision T1700
@DLMtechgarage3 жыл бұрын
could be a few things, are you getting beeps, i believe two beeps are memory errors, try reseating the memory either way. next would be to unplug the gpu and try plugging your display to the mother boards gpu, if it's still doing the same thing after that then go back to the original setup and if everything works could be a psu issue. now another thing to consider is did you make sure to plug in the cpu supplemental power, that has to be plugged in.

Great video. I have 5x 9020 SFF and 4x 9020 MT that I'm always looking for uses for. Have you done any work with the SFF models? Same process? I'm looking to take one of them into a 1U or 2U server chassis. I have an SFF I've been using as a pfSense Router w/a 10Gb NIC but I'm looking now rack mount that solution. Any tips you might have would be appreciated.

yea the sff models is the same, its the usff that are slightly different. the best tip i can give is to get the adaptors, it makes your life soo much easier, i have done it the splicing and cutting wat but it's annoying. It's a real easy process and straight forward with the adaptors. Thanks for watching,

So i was looking at the ATX to 8 pin adapter, i had an idea but couldnt find anything already made, but instead of the female atx side on the adapter, why dont anyone make it to where its a male 24 pin to male 8 pin so it can just be plugged directly into a modular power supply instead of needing the regular atx cable? it would have so much space on cable management

@@DLMtechgarage yeah I double checked everything too, it was all proper as per the instructions, I'm guessing there was a bad solder trace on the kit that mixed something up maybe? If you want to run more power-hungry GPUs look for people selling dual socket Precisions that only have one CPU installed. These machines have an extra PCIe power connector and an extra CPU power connector that Dell has cables for cheap. I think the GPU power cables I used in my 3610 were from R-series servers that were running GPU workloads.
