When the second song started playing (jingle punks - don’t hate me) , that’s when fell in love with charge 3. I love the deep , kind of muddy sound , people say that for the highs flip 4 is better , but in my opinion, for me charge 3 is the way go. They’re both awesome speakers , in the end it just really comes down to taste.

Hmmm, maybe try playing at 50%? At that point, no bass reduction or compression has started. At 80% lots of these kinds of things are the case.

Thanks for this review. Been doing a lot of investigation into Bluetooth speakers as I'm looking for something to use with my 2018 MacBook Pro while on the road. At this point I've pretty much have it narrowed down to the JBL Flip 4 or JBL Charge 3 and keep going back and forth between them. I'm not looking for something to fill the outdoors around a pool, but more like something better and louder than the "built in" speakers of the laptop. What I'll probably being using it for mostly is listening to audiobooks and some music. What would you suggest?

Have you updated the firmware of the Charge 3 before the comparison? There are some people saying that they were going to return the Charge 3, but after they made the update it sounded better / cleaner than the Flip 4 at low volumes. I am in between the two, still to make a purchase.

Well flip 4 sounds cleaner and more balanced, while charge 3 lacks hights. Charge 3 seems to be better allarounder, with more punch and better battery life, while flip 4 is exellent for bikes and smaller rooms, companies. Both are great speakers.

Bottom line for these speakers The jbl flip 4 is for people who are looking for a portable speaker that love mids and highs and a decent amount of bass and the flip 4 I think would be generally suited for classical music The charge 3 is more suited for people who are looking for a nice punch in their music as well as a powerbank for a couple extra dollars

G Butler Yes, soon, the Charge 3 will get JBL Connect*, so you can connect it to the Flip 3. And no, the sound on the Charge 3 will not be improved. It is a bass focused speaker, and when they increase treble, they'll have to decrease bass.

That was my dilemma, I couldn't decide. I'm a bass lover, but I think Flip 4 has a cleaner overall sound and is more portable. So I let my wife decide for me for Christmas, so she choose The Charge 3, I love it. Its a little bigger then I prefer but the lows are so sweet and this baby is clear and LOUD! I don't think you'll be completely disappointed with either. I went to Target they have a nice display and play all the major JBL stuff, It'll just confuse you more, lol happy hunting.

Flip 4 is more clear but Charge 3 is more usefull. If you want to have a great sound, it’s flip 4 but if you want to charge your phones and listen music, it’s charge but I recommend flip 4 becuase the batters is hanging really long! 🤗

I need help! I can't decide whether to take the JBL Flip 4 or the JBL Charge 3. I'm gonna take the speaker everywhere (country, pool, hikes, biking, beach, park, etc...), and throw it in my bag. +sebastian alvarez the flip 4 has connect plus instead of the connect which the charge 3 and flip 3 have. They said they would send out an update to make it possible to connect the older speakers to the new ones but it's been months with no sign of an update. So it's not just your speakers, jbl just sucked here.

Rahul Anand well depending on what you want. Its not night and say comparing to sound however charge 3 is louder , have more bass. I got the flip 4 though hahha . If you need to charge your phone while using charge 3 is your best bet. Charge 3 also last way longer in play time. Its whatever is your preference really.

Bose costs 190€, flip 4 only 100€, soundwise the bose will win (the flip would still have clearer highs but less bass). the flip is more portable and water resistant / rugged so much better for outdoor use and pool parties

COMPLETELY DISAGREE! Big bass difference. I was trying to decide between these two for a month. Weather to sacrifice bass for portable. Just go to any Target at the display at high volume or low, bass is better in the 3, but I think the Flip has a better overall balanced sound.
