For a month or two, the mutual friend was sending him letters in jail, but was still looking into the charges. We didn't know what he was actually charged with this entire time. Then... we found out what the charges were.... He... SA'd a lot of people... a lot of... young people.... Needless to say, we cut communication near immediately, and the mutual friend sent one last letter telling him to 'Go F Yourself' and nothing else. To this day, we barely talk about him if ever. Too many people use Chaotic Neutral to excuse Chaotic Evil actions. Neutral in regards to Good and Evil means you don't go out of your way to help (or hurt) strangers but you still want the best for people close to you. Chaotic means you value freedom rather than worrying about rules or traditions. Obviously it can go more in-depth but that's fundamentally all it is. Like, a chaotic neutral person might steal something to give to someone they like but not steal from a beggar. They might toss a beggar a coin but only if it's not too much trouble or they have something to gain like information. Deliberately causing unnecessary harm is strictly Evil.

That's delusional and aggressive. Guy needs to take his meds or get some meds to take because that's not normal. First thought is Guy was going through a manic episode. I probably wouldn't let him play anymore without explanations, apologies, and guarantees about handling the problem though. Awkward. Hypnotic Gaze isn't evil, it's basically just a stun without any head-bashing...the result is: "the creature is incapacitated and visibly dazed".The reason you use Hypnotic Gaze determines whether it's an evil action or not. Did you stun someone to keep them from jumping off a cliff, or, stun them so you could push them off the cliff and steal their stuff? The DM calling it "evil" and "creepy" means he has personal issues about being controlled that he needs to work out -- they're intruding on the game.

The Charisma story is as frustrating as it is understandable. Roleplay is hard, full stop. It's not only a way to express your character fully, but there is the expectation to entertain the others at your table. In the case of OP, the "rewarding good rp and not punishing bad rp" was a good way to ease into it on the DM's part, and i think OP took it as, if they arent rewarded, theyre not a good roleplayer, which i dont think that is what OP's DM was going for. For those of you who relate strongly, approach it as describing what your character would say, how they would say it, and what they are trying to convey. However, if your DM is blatantly forcing you to roleplay your part, its just not going to be fun, especially if you're unsure how to roleplay or if you feel uncomfortable doing it at all. Find your D&D style and dont let others make your experience uncomfortable. No D&D is better than Bad D&D.
@biffwellington614419 күн бұрын
My advice for the shy player who has a high-Charisma character and is feeling that pressure to perform is, don't worry so much. I know that seems easier said than done, but when you get right down to it, it's just a game. I'm sure you've seen other players screw something up, right? You've seen the Rogue fail at stealth or disarming a trap, you've seen the Fighter miss on a key attack roll, you've seen all the enemies succeed on a save against a spellcaster's magic... and what happened? The game went on, didn't it? If you make a mistake in this diplomacy situation, the game continues. It's not a big deal. Things might become more difficult for the party as a result, but overcoming adversity is just what heroes do. The other players are your friends, right? They want to see you succeed, and they'll forgive you if you don't succeed. Maybe you're on top of your game, performing amazingly, but the dice don't roll your way. Maybe you fail to assert yourself at a key moment. The game goes on, regardless. Just do what your character is good at doing, and don't worry too much about it. Giving your best effort is all anyone can ask of you.

A good example of Chaotic Neutral would be Shadow the Hedgehog after he finds out the truth of Maria's dying wish. As far as I'm concerned, the morality of the use of Enchantment magics is entirely dependent on the situation. My personal view is that all individuals have a right to their life and liberty, and that an initiation of force to violate said rights is wrong, and choosing to do so is to forfeit one's own rights (appropriate to the severity). If someone attempts to bring your harm, you are justified to use whatever is necessary to prevent that act. Using Hypnotic Pattern against some random civilian to get information is coercion. Using it against a raiding bandit to subdue them is justified self defense. (and letting them off easy, IMO) It's telling that this DM is perfectly fine with the character being a wizard who uses their power to pickpocket people, but get all DM godmode when someone might be coerced into something regardless of context. Also, punishing a player in such a heavy-handed way is unimaginative and lazy. Also it goes against the spirit of roleplaying, IMO. If the PCs are forbidden from doing things morally dubious, then it makes doing the right thing hollow and unrewarding - like playing the game on rails.

No. Reformatting doesn't delete data from a drive, it resets the File Allocation Table and makes the space available to the OS but the data will still be there until it happens to be written over by new data. I know it's easier said than done, but if you try enough times, you'll eventually be passable at it, and even have the occasional moments of actual dramatic roleplay. Also, avoid DMs who want to "help" you by purposefully giving you the spotlight as much as possible thinking it's some sort of fear you can conquer by just facing it. This is something you have to get over in your own time, and it could take years, which is fine. It's your problem, so in the end, only you can deal with it.

In case you’re wandering, Qara was basically a human version of Nixie from 1 for all, with none of the cutesy charm. She was just a spoiled brat who loved burning everything in sight, lashed out at anyone who criticised her and got the party into trouble by making enemies out of nearly everyone from the Academy she was expelled from. Including a teacher who created a construct to turn her powers against her, and after fending it off, you’d think Qara would undergo some character development and learn her lesson, she doesn’t. To top it off, if you don’t suck up to her, she ultimately betrays the party and sides with the BBEG of the main campaign, but on the bright side that does mean you get to kill her. The anti-magic Inquisition would have to use magic to acess this only-accessible-by-magic bunker though.
@davidtherwhanger679524 күн бұрын
Honestly I don't think it would have worked no matter what anyone says. That guard should not have been able to get there nor even be aware of it. Because if the guards were why did they not hear the tortured screams of the victims of that mage's experiments?

It's honestly funnier with one guard. Really shows the railroading. Only way it could actually work without being a tabletop horror story is if OP actually did it in public and was told ahead of time that he'd face discrimination.

20:41 Red flag for a fake story. If someone is rude enough to be noticed right off the bat then no sane person would join.

is that an ai voiceover
@DnDDoge23 күн бұрын
No, I actually record. I guess my voice just sounds that way because I have a bit of a nervous stutter due to severe tinnitus, and I have to stitch certain sentences together in Audacity.

Imma be honest with the bard player, if a single word is enough to send you in the Expresso depresso train, you shouodnt be playing dnd, but doing teraphy.

I kind of agree that using mind whammy magic is kind of creepy, and the DM is perfectly valid in doling out punishments (you made the argument that using magical fire isn't evil, but there is a difference between using Burning Hands on enemies in battle, vs a vigilante using it as an interrogation technique, which Hypnotic Gaze was being used as in this), but if that was the case, the DM needed to make that clear to begin with.
@ArcCaravan24 күн бұрын
Using enchantment for nonviolent interrogation isn't the same as using fire to torture someone. It's no different than persuasion or deception with a bonus.
@rpghorrorstories24 күн бұрын
@@ArcCaravan Just because you don't leave a bruise or a burn mark doesn't mean it's not force. Using Hypnotic Gaze on an unwilling target would be more akin to drugging someone as opposed to physical torture. This isn't a buff spell used on yourself.

I know this may be something that you don't want to hear but I suggest that you change your name if you are in the USA. DOGE is about to become a much hated word here. I like your videos, though.

PDF File is algospeak for the p-word. Saying PDF is short for PDF File. You're being willfully ignorant.

Lots of internet people have to use that so posts don’t get flagged and or taken down. It’s stupid but sadly what we have to do

What if instead of DND doge, it was DND SkibiDoge, and instead of telling horror stories on a throne, they told analyzes on Skibidi toilet episodes
