Yamazaki is a huge fan of GMK, and Anguirus was one of the original Guardian Monsters, but the script was changed. I think it's a very good chance, that Anguirus is the Opponent.

I could be mistaken, but I believe Anguirus' status as a fan-favorite is much more of an American thing than in Japan. He's very popular in the US, but less so in his home country. I don't know how much Toho is aware of his overseas popularity.

I think it's smart to keep Goji's origin vague or ambiguous to have a longer lasting life in the film being talked about. Also, I find it interesting that he wants to wait for the technology to keep up to make his film. Though since we have cgi, isnt it more possible than ever, could he mean maybe more accessible?

I've been thinking about those scratches on Godzilla. Maybe he was clawing at himself out of irritation, like his body is regenerating abnormally faster than normal. He was just not used to it yet, and by the end of the movie he has adapted to it. Just a theory.

What if it's a Godzilla versus Godzilla situation, but Godzilla's opponent is more like an Anguirus-type Godzilla? Or what if he introduces us to a different Godzilla for the first half of the film that fights and kills an Anguirus, but then the first Godzilla is revealed to be alive and shows up to fight the second Godzilla?

Having anguirus show up would be fitting since he was Godzilla's first movie grudge match but I can't see him holding it down alone if it's going to be that kind of movie. There's been too many epic fights since then. I can't wait to see what the director of minus one does with him though.

Imagine Anguirus during the late 40’s. That would be awesome (I am a huge history nerd lmao), and I actually thought of something. What if Anguirus originated somewhere in the USSR around 1948 or 1949 and it makes me think of two different possibilities: 1.) The RDS-1 test, which was the first Soviet atomic bomb, was actually an attempt to kill Anguirus and classify it as a test, similar to the Monarch TV series. 2.) RDS-1 was actually a test and the fallout mutated Anguirus like how Godzilla was mutated in 1946 during Operation Crossroads I don’t actually think that Anguirus would appear in the USSR (if he would appear in the sequel), I just like to tie in fictional events with historical ones, but if this is the case, then it would be pretty awesome.

I think that Gaira the Green Gargantua could be a great adversary. Especially with the hero's girlfriend seemingly contaminated from exposure to Godzilla during his attack. A mutation becoming Gaira could make a very vicious enemy especially if it easts humans adding to the horror aspect aspect. And the actual battle against would brutal. Maybe with Gaira viciously biting Godzilla and trying to eat him him. It could be fight similar to Godzilla vs Kong but even more brutal.

I honestly think it's just because Rodan had a really solid run early into the Godzilla series. Unlike Anguiurs, he started with a very popular solo film. Then he showed up in a huge set of the first arc of the Showa Godzilla films and was given more to do than just be a supporting ally to Godzilla, unlike when Anguirus made his reutnr.

Anguirus deserves to be the one in the sequel. We haven't seen him in years plus he be perfect. Have anguirus tail be a spike club and can shoot retractable spikes ( regenerate them) and have something that can counter Godzilla atomic breath ( that kinda sounds dumb but it be cool) be crazy if he added not one but 2 og Toho monsters

Excluding Godzilla, Anguirus is my favorite monster in the franchise, bar none, and having been cut out of multiple films over the older era movies stung a lot. It's been 20 years give my boy the time to shine! Though if he's looking for a 'Diva' monster then my thoughts go to the *Big 5.* Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan. Mechagodzilla is out obviously, as well as the alien dragon Ghidorah. So that leaves a second Godzilla, Mothra and Rodan. Since he mentioned another kaiju I doubt it'll be a second Godzilla, unless they keep the idea from Raids Again that Anguirus and Godzilla were from the same species. And Mothra seems to be a bit too mystical for the theme of -1.0, so I think if it isn't Anguirus then Rodan would be the most likely pick. I don't hate Rodan, I actually love him quite a lot and am glad he managed to get into the *Big 5* when he did, but i just feel like he's overused compared to other monsters. If I had to think of other old favorites that could thematically get in, I guess Biollante, King Ceasar maybe, Baragon, or even Varan. It could be anyone, I just think for the time period the movie takes place in and the parallels Anguirus makes the most sense.

I hope this means Godzilla will fight Anguirus in the first 10mins of the sequel. Where they come out the water and they're already fighting! And their fight drags out on land, into the city. And Godzilla ultimately kills Anguirus and drags his body back to the sea. Leaving the city in ruins. And now everyone is utterly terrified with the fact that these monsters can just show up out of nowhere! It'll definitely set the tone for the film!

I think that depends whether it is a period piece or not - if it’s set in the 40s or 50s, it wouldn’t make sense to make him that freakishly huge as the buildings of that time weren’t actually that tall. If it is set in present day then we can probably expect a 3-400 foot tall behemoth

Go Lovecraftian or dont go at all. If Anguirus is used, the new design should follow the current "horror" angle of this Godzilla version. Anguirus should return as something truly terrifying and dangerous. Not just another brute. And Godzilla should remain our enemy. The "monster team-ups with humanity to fight another monster" theme has been overdone. There should be wall-to-wall horrific kaiju and other kinds of monsters, with humans in the middle. These things are not supposed to be written like Marvel Superheroes, (as in other kaiju movies). Go Lovecraftian, or dont go at all.

Due to the reality grounded tone of "Minus One", the majority of the Toho monsters do not feel like they could exist in this universe. King Ghidorah, Space Godzilla, Mecha Godzilla, Gigan, Mothra all feel too fantastical and out there. Rodan, Anguirus and HEDORAH somehow feel like they would be the best picks, Rodan and Anguirus simply because they are surviving dinosaur like creatures just like Godzilla himself so it would be very easy to fit them in. I suppose some of the bug monsters like Kumonga, Kamacuras and Ebirah could also exist but they aren't that popular. A very big concern I have after a rumour I heard (which I'm praying is false) is that the movie won't actually feature any monsters at all per se, but rather just be a drama about how the world is coping with a Kaiju attack and its aftermath (which is basically what Monarch does). While this would indeed be budget friendly, let's be completely real, who actually wants to watch that?

I love Angilas( Yes, I said Angilas, get over it), and Rodan. But, the clue is in the word "Diva". It's probably Mothra, the only female monster. If there is any kaiju that qualifies for "Diva" status, it's Mothra. The original battle between Mothra and Godzilla is still among the best if not thee best of all time. It's because of what's at stake. The previous battles were mostly territorial. But in Mothra vs. G, the stakes are higher and more personal. It's a dying mother using the last of her power to save her unborn children from being murdered. It's a mythic tale of Yin vs. Yang, Female vs. Male. That would be the best choice for Yamazaki. Especially considering Noriko's situation.
