One of my favorite ideas is the idea that Dinosaurs may have been able to mimic voices. Given how similar we know they are to birds...and we know parrots and even ravens/crows can mimic human speach... It's not to hard to imagine a dromaesaur doing the same. Just picture walking alone at night. You hear a human like voice wailing. You run to go assist only to find a gigantic bird monster ready to pounce at you.

Paleohorror that isn't directly trying to copy from Jurassic Park (*cough* 65) is a severely untapped subgenre, there is so much that can be done with our modern understanding of dinosaurs that can build up great slowburn horror. The Dromaeosaurs being intelligent, persistent, and studious hunters basically trapping people in their homes is so freaking scary, but also the fact that they are still behaving like *Animals* is another contributor--Screaming monsters that suicidally throw themselves at prey a la Jurassic World are formulaic and easy to predict. These dinosaurs are cautious and planning, making it hard to pin down what they might do. 100/10, inject this type of content directly into my veins.

Also since I am a massive dinosaur nerd I feel the need to list the probable identities of each animal: Big Bird/Window Monster = DMuted already popped that bubble but it's definitely a Dromaeosaurid. Given the size it's likely Utahraptor. Small Bird Monsters = This is a bit harder to tell. Definitely something Paravian, potentially fledgling dromaeosaurs? However the drawings showing them flying could pen them as something like Archaeopteryx? Wing Monster = Almost definitely a Pterosaur. The "spindly" description is a dead ringer for an Azhdarchid pterosaur specifically. Bat Monster = Another pterosaur, specifically an Anurognathid. Basically a feathery frog with bat wings, they're adorable. Crest Monster = This is hard to say solely from the picture. The size if the crest makes me want to guess some kind of Tapejarid pterosaur, like Tupandactylus? Window Monster's Killer = The deep vocalizations and being able to shatter deer antlers as well as kill the very big dromaeosaurs makes me want to think it could be a Tyrannosaurid of some kind. EDIT: Catching up on the thread and Archesuchus' media tab, the Crest Monster is confirmed as Thalassodromeus (a Tapejarid) and there is definitely a Tyrannosaur in this story.

Dino/Animal/Monster IDs for those who want to know: - the Window Monster is a large Dromeosaurid, possibly Dakotaraptor or something similar (EDIT: I've recently learned that the original mask is supposed to be a Troodontid, probably one of the larger ones from Alaska that might not have a proper name yet) - The "small mutant birds" might be the actual babies of the Window Monsters, as they seem too small to be adult Velociraptors (actually roughly turkey-sized) or even adult Troodontids or Compys - Crest Monster is most likely some variety of Tapejarid pterosaur (they had big weird crests likely for display), and it most likely didn't do anything to the neighbors, it's just taking advantage of the situation to hide inside their patio - the Lanky Thing on the Roof might've been some kind of Azhdarchid pterosaur (which were basically carnivorous giraffe-storks, the largest & most famous member of their family being Quetzalcoatlus, though this one is likely a much smaller species) - the small Bat Monster on the screen door is definitely an Anurognathid pterosaur (which were small & fluffy with big eyes, very cute & round) - the thing that killed one of the Window Monsters and makes the rumblings that silence even the insects is a Tyrannosaurid, more specifically a Zhuchengtyrannus (which was significantly smaller than T. rex but still big enough to eat you in 1 or 2 bites); it shows up in person later in the thread.

I happen to be a huge dino fan, so I'ma try and identify the creatures featured. The "Window Monster" is a type of dromaeosaur, a family of dinos consisting of raptors, and a bunch others. In fact, the other dino, the smaller ones, at least to me, seem to be a raptor known as microraptors. Now, the other "dinos," actually aren't dinosaurs, they're flying reptiles, pterosaurs. The "Wing Monster" is definitely the one on the roof, but I don't know what it is. The "Bat Monster" seems to be an anurognathus. I know that's not really helpful and pretty obvious but felt like saying it. Also I'm happy you brought this to my attention, I'm so happy that someone is utilizing dinosaurs for horror.

A list of species I think are present in the series: 1. Big Birds - clearly a large dromaeosaur, the exact species isn't given but my guess is that it could be Utahraptor. No completely solid guesses yet (note that Arche could have confirmed its species, and I just haven't seen that post yet). 2. Flying blue monsters - appear to be two species of pterosaurs. One small and a species of Azhdarchid. No clear looks at them or their species have been seen yet. 3. Small furry creature - Judging from the looks, it appears to be an Anurognathus. 4. Roof Monster - This could be either a pterosaur or a different species of theropod. Unsure since no clear look was given and the only detail we got was spindly. 5. Bat-like screen door monster - Definitely an Anurognathus, no question about that. 6. Crest monster that trashed the Neighbor's porch - Thanks to that massive crest I believe that it could be a Tapejara. 7. Monster that killed a Big Bird - Not seen but considering how all animals go completely silent, it's highly suggested to be a large predator. (Note that Arche has implied it could be a Tyrannosaurus rex or other large theropod in its weight group). 8. Large shadow monster that chased Arche - This species has been confirmed by Arche to be a Zhuchengtyrannus. 9. Monster that was breathing on the window - A sauropod! I don't know how big Arche's house is supposed to be, but I am pretty sure that could be a Titanosaur. Rather its younger specimen or a smaller species is yet to be seen. 10. Dead monster in a tree - Appears to be a smaller dromaeosaur, could be a younger Big Bird or smaller dromeosaur species. 11. Monsters with glowing eyes - Probably small carnivores that function in large mobs or groups. 12. Flashing & glowing lights that sink badly - Could be rips in time or time-based anomalies that are bringing dinosaurs into the modern world. However, they could also created by a living thing or are living things themselves which could be purposefully placing these extinct animals in our time. No clear explanation has been given yet. 13. Small slightly friendly black bird-like monster / Mikey - Appears to be a Microraptor. 14. Monsters with glowing eyes that live in the ceiling - Most likely the same creatures as the Monsters with glowing eyes. 15. Small skittish bird monsters - Putting this last since they appear to be multiple species filling the same role. Appear to be a mixture of small theropods, baby / juvenile carnivores, & primitive birds. Here's to hoping we see more dinosaurs and other creatures done by Archesuches because this series is pretty great. I hope that we can see other large carnivores (mainly my favorites Tyrannosaurus rex and Spinosaurus).

The crested monster is most likely a Tupandactylus, since they are known to have had a red crest and they were big, unlike Tapejara, which was a fraction of the size of the crested monster.

i’ve watched and followed along to ARGs with a lot of disturbing audio and visuals, but i don’t think i’ve ever felt so unnerved by something other than the “wrong talking”. the whispering and hissing of “are you hungry? yes, yes” which are presumably the last words of a child before being completely torn apart- it genuinely gave me chills even though i’m watching this in broad daylight.

What's great about the talking is the idea that maybe a raptor could mimic a human's vocals the same way as a modern bird like a parrot does. Except when a parrot does it, it's cute. When something does it to try and trick and predate upon you, it's terrifying. There was something similar in a novel called The Flock, in which surviving terror birds could do the same thing.

How funny that I end up finding this after watching a completely different video on dinosaur horror. This one works really well and I love that the creator is trying to make these dinosaurs (and non-dinosaurs) as scientifically accurate as possible. Really shows how you don't need to make a dinosaur scaly to make it scary. Lastly, a theory I have (and I'm 100% sure I'm not the first to think this) is that the dinosaur that killed one of the raptors and made that deep noise was a tyrannosaur. I'm looking forward to seeing more developments from this. (even though I refuse to back to twitter)

I really like this series so far, even though I feel like it jumped the gun in some parts. Mainly referring to the Kid's foot and the decapitated Window Watcher head. I think the part with the kid's foot could have been replaced with the remains of a local pet, and a piece of the collar found in the pellet. And instead of the decapitated head, I'd use like a piece of wing or a foot or something.

That vocalization is so creepy. I could only really make out the words "Hungry" and "Yeah." I wonder how Arch made the effect, it sounds like a legitimate bird is making the sounds but it could've been just him mixing samples of his voice with bird sounds. Whatever it really is, it sure is creepy. I think scientifically up to date dinosaurs bring a new kind of primal I'm being watched kind of horror and I love that there's creators making this kind of stuff.

If I had to take a guess as to what the dinosaur making the low rumbly noise was, I'd say it's likely a T. Rex or some other large therapod, as we've found that they likely made incredibly low vocalizations similar to those of cassowaries. In other words, this guy's probably screwed!

The not-human sounds sound like they're trying to say 'Are you hungry?' and maybe 'help' and 'stop it'. I think it's imitating the moments the neighbour kid was feeding it (and got eaten). Also those long, drawn out sounds suggest something big. I once read that big dinosaurs like Trex would have made sounds so low you could moreso feel than hear them. Maybe that's why it sounds almost like deep breathing, because the breathing is at a frequency we can hear.

Let it be known that anyone who claims that anatomically/physically accurate dinosaurs aren't scary is absolutely out of their mind. This stuff is more terrifying than Jurassic Park's sad excuses for dinosaurs. Also, t-rexes would not be our biggest concerns because we're just too small for them to consider us to be a worthy meal. Raptors? Now that's more concerning....

i think the reason crickets stopped chirping while the louder vocalizations happened is because its some type of tyrannosaur making the sounds and its theorized that their vocalizations were extremely loud and could partially paralyze other animals!
