Fire Story. I was in the Navy, so have some fire fighting training. And first off if you have a fully engulfed (it's a bonfire now) structure, unless people are trapped inside, you are on the defensive. A fire extinguisher ain't going to do anything to stop it and a garden hose just can't throw enough water on it. Your best bet is to make certain the Fire Department is on the way. Don't go near it without a clear line of retreat and keep checking that line will stay clear. You getting trapped and needing rescue helps no one. And if you are going to use a garden hose at that point, hose down the ground around and any trees or other structures nearby as best you can from a safe position. That will slow down the spread of the flames a little. But just to repeat this, the Navy beat this into our skulls because it is so important, always, always, always make sure help is coming FIRST before you do anything else.

Story 1: This is exactly how people from Tennessee think, and why all my female friends are from different states/countries. Everyone was dating, and speaking to anyone of the opposite sex was “cheating”.

Former Tennessean here. I never understood why a lot of the girls I knew were like that as adults (the guys couldn't have cared less from my experience). Really sucked after growing up with a lot of guy buddies and going off to do your own thing for a few years, because God help you if you ran into someone at a flea market who ended up doing alright for himself, because they'd act more like you were gonna swipe him for his wallet rather than their man himself. I remember one time, I ran back into a guy I knew from HS, and his then fiancee (later an ex-wife after like, 1-2 years in) just glared at me. Like, chill, lady, I ain't said nothing to him I ain't saying to the elderly bookseller lady I'm also geeking out with because she got me into Star Trek and Barbara Hambly books!

First Story - This is definately one of those stories where I would really like to hear from the other side. When people do stuff which seems to make no sense, I kind of default to assuming that not all the information is present. Not saying OP is lying, I've just got my questioning goggles on.

@@MrKodachii I see three possibilities with this. 1) Op is lying and did cheat and tried to hide it/justified it here 2) Gem is lying and told op this but lied because she knew it will be bad for her and judging by that, op is now not knowing that gem cause all this to this day. or 3) Ray is trying to isolate her or maybe he is cheating and needed a way out before it gets out and destroys the podcast not in the way he wants.

If it was from a podcast, we should be able to find it. We won't know the breakup but we can find one with the correct amount of people and sexs (assuming op posted biological sex) and look for two characters hogging the spot light. It won't prove everything but it would give weight to ops story.

Our neighbor's house got gutted by a large fire that nearly took ours with it. Took the fire fighters from a neighboring state 45 minutes to get out here. I exhausted one fire extinguisher and was about to go for more when things escalated really rapidly! God bless Op's DM. Story 3: Some times; you have to get away for a bit. Story 4: Not me! Regarding the "Stop Playing" story: It sounds like it would help here to simply switch from the "we look each other in the face and sit at the same table" way of playing to an online version (e.g. Discord). Then you just mute the players who are not on (or who are on themselves) and the problem with the constant chatting would be solved. But as for the rest... If you don't enjoy playing anymore, maybe you should take a break or try a different round/other players or maybe even a one-shot of another system for the sake of variety. That can reignite creativity and fun in the game for everyone involved.

While the podcast story does sound a little weird, I've heard enough stupid stuff going on in those sort of things to find it believable. It wouldn't surprise me if the DM was desperately trying to pander to the shipping crowd and felt the need to make an example when something was a threat to that aspect.

the third story i kinda get the paldin and rogue in the game i play tend to check their phones during others turns in combat and then wonder why they are the onlyons hettong hurt in combat (rogue tries to be a paladin and paladin - tries to be Aragorn from LOTR i think. Wereas Druid and my warlock rely on our range cantrips or bows in combat as we are low level and squishy still (party is at level 3 should hit 4 in our next session end result Warlock and druid hardly ever take damageand when they mention it i point out that My Warlock and Druid have the lowest HP of all characters and we have range so why wouldnt we use it? "You guys also have ranged gear why not hang back and whittle numbers down a bit before wading in?" Only other issue is Rogue agrees to a plan then literally goes rogue causing plans to turn into massive brawls (last one was 4npc and out 4 person party vs 25 bandtis as a result) Plus me and Druid are the only ones that ever buy potions, anti toxin etc. Tbf though the Dm although new to DnD as doing a good job and the paladon and rogue have never played DnD so alot of it is over excitedness and they are slowly improving for the most part.

Story #1 - The group were the @$$holes, totally. Raving hypocrites, besides. Story #2 - Epic. It's good that no one was hurt and the damage was minimized. "The Game Must Go On." :) Story #3 - Bad Players, from the sounds of things. I also think this DM REALLY needs to assert himself if he's allowing all this cr#p to go on. Boot disruptive Players, have specific rules at the table (such as NO interruptions, limits on mobile phone use), and so on. You don't have to be a hard-@$$ to be a successful DM, but respect in both directions is essential., and there is none shown here. It is natural to worry about having Players quit, but if they are just screwing up the game, then finding new Players is probably the best thing to do. Story #4 - It was good that Kevin was reined in as a Player, early on. With 20-20 hindsight, his DMing was unsurprising, really. I do kind of feel sorry for the guy - it's obvious why he couldn't find groups to play with (for long).

I wish I knew which podcast in first story. Curious to see what a TTRPG show revolving around two characters flirting (and little else) would be like. I could use a cringelaugh. Anyway, also am curious why rpghorrorstories and AITH subreddit moderators both removed the post (was on horrorstories first, moderators removed it, then OP took it to AITH, moderators removed it -- you can tell that's what happened from the comments...and its being removed). Was it 'May' and 'Rayne's doing? The story itself isn't controversial, it doesn't use real/real character names so you can't figure out the podcast (google has nothing), it didn't tell any of the plot of their game to link it back to them either. Hmmm. "Kevin": The stories where "we didn't see the red flags" that were so obvious (and they actually DID see)...I have a hard time feeling sorry for them when they let it continue. And they let the problem first-timer who's a cheater and a pouty, argumentative, manipulative player...be the next DM? Yes, well...
