A quick reminder: Charm Person is NOT a mind control spell. It makes the target less hostile towards the caster and consider them a friend. As such unless the person was already inclined to sleep with the caster they won't suddenly develop the desire to do so.

Quick reminder that Suggestion however does allow people to sleep with others and is a mind control spell. Charm person is just pretty meh and more or less great if you need to get something quick. Also to use charm person at a distance it has a distance of 30 feet. This allows you to make sure the person doesn't know you cast a spell on them.

@@WhyYouMadBoi it should be pointed out that it is entirely up to the DM if sleeping with the caster is something the target would want to do. If not it is an obviously harmful act (pretty sure rape counts as obviously harmful) and the DM can 100% disallow this use.

@@iank472 No it isn't, the spell says "Sounds reasonable." doesn't mean it makes sense, for example "Walk north for the next 8 hours" makes no fucking sense if you are there to kill someone. Or "Lay on the ground and do nothing" all the while the two melee pcs are in the targets face just itching for that free advantage. I am talking only with the suggestion spell along with hell Geas cause you can get really fucked up with that spell. Charm person yeah but suggestion gives examples of OBVIOUSLY harmful acts. Walking north for the next 8 hours might lead the target to a bear cave however there is nothing harmful in the suggestion itself. The only two conditions for suggestion is "Sound reasonable" which means something the target can do and is able to do. The second being "Not obviously harmful" If you a interesting example telling a target to let go of concentration on fly spell while they are 60 ft in the air is obviously harmful. However, "Strip down, shut up and spread your legs and stay that way for 8 hours" isn't obviously harmful but we all know what happens next. Oh and btw if it isn't obvious, TALK TO YOUR PARTY AND DM NOT EVERY GAME WILL BE SEXUAL AND ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO READ/WATCH RPGHORRORSTORIES ARE PRUDES. I as a DM obviously don't care if you rape the villainous cause your chatoic evil bard does it but the other party members might or even another DM. Also dominate person just gives you control and there is no rules for keeping concentration while banging. I rule it as 3 con saves dc 10 if you fail one spell breaks and friends cantrip rules. Cause yeah you are doing something FUCKED UP.

It's the same as telling someone to stab their child or partner using Suggestion. It would cause extreme harm to the persons mental and emotional state thus messing up the spell. I generally wouldn't allow that kind of action in my games but if it came up in a game I was DMing I would require a spell like Dominate Person to have that kind of thing happen.

I'll admit that I'm biased here, since my inventory lists had all kinds of weird stuff that I don't even remember picking up a lot of the time. Not sure that the DM in the first story knows that he's meant to be the referee of the game and NOT just let the players do whatever they request. Some people are blaming the other players for not speaking up, which is very true after the second or third time, but in my opinion, ultimate blame falls on the DM - he should have never let it get past one time from the start.

The Magic Item story does feel like there's 2 sides of the story to me; while sure the player was likely blunt in that it didn't do anything for them and this did seemingly hurt the DM's feelings, I do think a Paladin refusing a reward is a valid & cool thing that I think gets glossed over with the DM's side of the story here.

Second story, DM was crushed after a player didn't like the magic item they had picked out for him: that's just life, man. People are not required to like or even accept your gifts. What an entitled expectation that DM had. If it's really the lack of roleplaying on Paladin's part that's the problem, address it and/or stop playing with them, if you don't enjoy it. The context you missed is that the player was a complete douche about not liking the item. There is quite a difference in tone between "I've been thinking about it and I must admit that I actually don't like the magic item my paladin received, would you mind switching it out ?" and "The magic item you gave me is completely useless and would just waste space on my character sheet, let's retcon the encounter where my paladin accepted it."

When I was playing with a group that was doing a Tyranny of Dragon Campaign, We had a ranger who was a Tibaxi beast master ranger, who had a lynx as a companion.. and um.. Let's just say she and the cat did stuff I wish hadn't been role played out and I still wonder why the DM allowed it.. Some Dm's are weird. For some clarification.. She said that her character and her lynx would "Clean" each other... I found it kinda ew, and just tried to keep the group going trying to avoid that whole thing. I don't understand some players.

What an asshat. I had a situation where a DM (while high) kept escalating the home brew on the spot magic items. Starting with me getting a common item escalating to very rare and legendary equivalent items. Next day I messaged him and said "I don't think that my cloak of protection +1 holds a candle to the other items handed out. I'm concerned because you are going to ramp up the challenges now." (I already passed up on the special ability at character creation.... He often is generous to a fault. Story 3)convenient amnesia is always so convenient.

A nice mix of a bad player and a bad GM. If someone handed me those notes I would outright tell them no. You don't nor should you always say yes, as those who endlessly offer bad advice say. I even expressly stated in my house rules that there is no sexual content allowed. We're here to play a game, not all sit around watching you live out your fetish for others. And no, no matter how much seducing you do you cannot seduce someone into doing something that they normally wouldn't do. I would guess that no matter how hard another guy seduced a straight man into sex, 99%+ of the time the straight guy will not be interested in it. Stats on your paper and dice rolls cannot overturn what someone would or wouldn't do.

Alright, well, time to be a bit edgy, but I hope I will make my point. First I wanted to say before anything, players and GMs should be EXTREMELY wary about introducing anything sexual into RPGs, especially with a new group or new players involved. The only real exception is when it's started this kind of thing is going to be involved. It seems 9 out of 10 horror stories involving any kind of sexual behavior, come from someone new to the group wanting to do sexual stuff when nobody else is there for that. The remaining 1 out of 10 are in the less common situation where say there is a game with heavy sex themes and a new player was not informed. As a general rule if your new with a group you should see if anyone else is doing that kind of thing once they get comfortable with the new guy, before you even suggest anything sexual yourself. The basic reality is the VAST majority of paper and pencil RPGs have no sexual content at all, in fact in many adventuring scenarios it's not even appropriate to what's going to be going on unless you go out of your way to insert it (though there are exceptions). I am a massive pervert, and have played numerous adult games of all sorts, and run even more, but they are an exception rather than the rule, and most games I have been in, have had none of that stuff... and this is speaking from an experience span of over three decades. In fact my fellow grognards might remember that there was a recurring gag in "Dragon Magazine" in "What's New With Phil and Dixie" that they were going to be doing a strip on sex in RPGs, because everyone new it generally wasn't a thing despite that sort of material in the source material, and the idea was kind of funny. Also note Phil Foglio is pretty perverted and even did a whole series called "Xxxenophile" about fantasy sex stuff, using the same art style from that strip, The point is even he knew this really wasn't a thing and even the "great net D&D Sex Book" (From Fidonet) was a joke about this more than people doing it. I am sort of wondering how this kind of thing became such a recurring thing. I mean if I told people in say 1990 I actually had a sex heavy RPG group and it wasn't some White Wolf title, then people would assume I was joking, likewise if someone told stories about sex motivated PCs going crazy, everyone would assume it was being made up to be funny. That said on the subject of dog sex, I'd never really run into that specific kind of thing. Now I *HAVE* seen RPGs of various types with shape change magic where a wizard might have a less than platonic relationship with their pixie familiar or something, but that is an exception, and not the rule, and let's say there was this old Manga that became sort of a classic called "Bondage Fairies" that sort of got a lot of people thinking about what Tinkerbell might be into in entirely new ways. That said it was an exception, not the rule. I have also seen things in horror or modern fantasy games where there would be say beastiality via someone getting it on with a werewolf (of either gender) and them changing forms or whatever and there are entire novels specifically about this sort of thing, so one can say if your into say "Parnormal Romance" you imagine it goes along with that fandom. I have also seen situations where there would be say wild Roman-type orgies and trained animals would be involved. That said I have never seen a player character actually seek out having sex with a dog or something, or be particularly descriptive about such things. I *DID* however have players do things like the scene from "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" where say some decadent PC might say be finishing fasterning their pants, having just gotten dressed, coming out of a room where there are two lovely young women also getting dressed in the background, while a goat stands a bit unsteadily munching grass at the foot of the bed, and the Inn owner can be heard screaming at the girls about how the hell he's going to clean something off the ceiling. It's never elaborated on (intentionally) but I'm sure you can infer the intent even if it's never referenced again. The bottom line is mostly while I think the dog sex is gross personally, people should just pretty much not do, or imply, any of this stuff, until they know the group pretty well.

Okay this is one of the most vile stories I've ever heard and DM is part of the problem for not kicking him out as soon as he started with that shit AND INSTEAD WENT ALONG?! LIKE BRO?! I have a thing about animals, even imaginary ones, where mistreatment of them in any way puts me over the edge. In that game, I would have demanded it stop, possibly screaming it stop. The ranger's player is a sociopathic creep who should be watched closely in real life, and the DM is henceforth untrustworthy for ever letting it happen. Certain things are completely out of bounds period: no sex with, or torturing of, children and animals, and no 'R' of anything. Any player who wants to do any of those things should be kicked immediately. They are not ok. The second story made me sad. I know someone like that in real life. Years and years of thoughtful presents I twisted myself to figure out and find were treated like thoughtless junk. "Oh, thanks" and put to the side and forgotten about almost every time. It got to the point where I started giving him thoughtless junk for real because I was tired of trying so hard for nothing. The thing is that people like that are so self-centered that they don't care about thoughtfulness -- from others or in themselves. I'll hazard a guess that the paladin fisherman halfling player is a narcissist who felt he deserved a bejeweled platinum sword that sang his name out every time he swung it...not a measly fish hook (that keeps showing up in top-10 lists of useful items).
