6 levels in Primeval Druid, 5 levels in Light Cleric. Guilmon used Pyro Sphere! (AKA, Fireball.) I will have to say that you can't _normally_ be that effective when casting spells through your Guilmon, without being able to _see_ said Guilmon, but that's what Beast Sense is for. Let him go for a walk after casting, and if you see an enemy that's worth the XP, give it a Pyro Sphere to the face, from the safety of a city.

Raven Queen subclass is also good because the raven is set apart from the find familiar spell so you could have two, and maybe fulfill your Odin fantasy.

I actually played this combo! It was super fun. "Warforged" Raven Queen Warlock. His body was made out of a viking longboat that was retired due to damage, and the klabautermann-like spirit of the boat made a pact with the Raven Queen to give him a "human" form so he could still serve his clan in death. He ended up outliving the rest of the clan and now travels as their living record keeper. Uses pact of the chain for the other raven, and the GM ruled that both of them got both sets of ability effects as long as they both remained ravens rather than any of the better chain options. So the patron raven got the benefits of the invocations that boost chain familiars, and the chain familiar could do all the patron raven stuff. He was super fun.

Crazy how people in comments don't realize the script and recording of this video is probably a few months old and was meant for people playing the 2014 version. Here's two fun tips for the Raven Queen sub. One being that the raven is not considered a familiar so you can take Find Familiar and have two familiars and be extremely hard to sneak up on with three perception checks or just boosting one check with an extra one. Plus all the insane scouting and invocations you can stack on your familiar. One of my favorite combos is to cast Magi Stone and have the two ravens just turn into living gun turrets on my character's shoulders. That's on top of all the things they do just as extra help batteries. Second tip, you can also get a free Finger of Death from your Mystic Arcanum so you can have two free Fingers of Death. Double blast someone you really hate with two 60-ish damage shots and just ruin their day. Make your character cast it by flipping the double bird(hah) if you're feeling really spicy.

I'd never heard of Critical roll when I started playing dnd, and in my first ever campaign after a few months of one shots I chose raven queen warlock because it's on 5e companion app and I love ravens. I definitely didn't play Wexler Fowl efficiently, but my god was he fun. Probably my favourite character in any of my campaigns, even a few years later, and my dm seemed to like him too, since he became the grim reaper after we beat Vecna, and showed up in later campaigns in the same world. My god that was a fun game, loved every moment

About that Raven Queen with Spiritual Weapon: with the 2024 rules, the spell does use concentration. I think all those subclasses need to be played with the 2014 rules to work as described.

i do love the concept of the stone sorcerer, but it definitely felt like something was off between theme and mechanics. felt like more of a... metal sorcerer, which isn't bad but its a different thing. stone and rock magic feels more... damage resistances rather than weapons and armor, terrain advantages, tremorsense, tremors and earthquakes, and stability and immutability.

I had an idea for a Tattoo Artist Artificer. The idea is a little nebulous. You can give out spell tatts to your friends that last for a day. You gain access to the different tatts that are already created.

You can do that with with an infusion but it's limited to common magic items (even then the two tattoos available at common tier are cantrip and 1st level so do with that info as you would)

I actually have a tattoo artist artificer, he's a kobold and an artillerist. Most of his abilities are flavored as ink taking shape, any summons look like ink blot monsters. Take caligraphers tools as the artisan's tool for spell casting, and either use your infusions on spellwrought tattoos, or spend the 50g to make them (cantrip and 1st level spells at least)

@@lucasramey6427 That is true but I was thinking that the Tatts would be the preestablished Tattoos but they could also do a mix of offensive (like you could activate to do a cone of elemental damage), healing, and utility (burn a charge to gain advantage on some saves or some such).

One of my favorite characters I've ever rune ever was a dwarf stone sorcerer. A sorcerer tanking for the party was just hilarious. AC through the roof, and when I needed to, I could fireball the room. Tons of fun, loved that character.

Brute might just be everything I want in a martial subclass. Just a simple buff to damage and saving throws that isn't just a slightly less rare occurance like improved critical or always a limited resource like superiority dice.

Yeah it's still so weird we haven't gotten a proper Gish Sorcerer subclass, like beside stone there was even Giant soul that went nowhere too. Like sure needing to get to level 14 before you could use "Rage of Fallen Ostoria" means it came online far too late for normal games and it still didn't have an extra attack, but it was UA, you're suppose to fix issues like that there.

I homebrewed the Primeval Druid subclass on dndbeyond so I could use it with the new rules. Ive paired it with an elven simic hybrid since wildshape is used for the companion. A fun combo!

Happy to see the Archivist here. I love Artificer, and was always kinda sad that the only subclass that doesn't focus on combat is the Alchemist, which is not that good and a pretty specific concept. When i read the Archivist i found what would be the ideal Artificer subclass for me. Aside from being also good in combat, its feats are pretty cool concept-wise and have cool uses for support in a different way that the other subclasses can have. Unfortunately, i need a group that would accept UA subclasses... In the game i am playing right now i wanted an inteligence-focused character for some investigating, and was looking the Wizards and found out about the Scribe one. Then i understood why the Archivist never left the UA: they preferred to give it to the Wizard :( I ended up creating a Scribe Wizard for the game, which makes me pretty happy, but i am still hoping to one day be able to play an Archivist. Or that WoTC decides to make new subclasses for the poor Artificer already....

I liked the Brute Fighter. It was clearly meant to be a replacement for the Champion, but it still felt a little too shallow. When I run my games, I always combine the features of the Brute and Champion together. It might seem a bit stacked, but it really just allows the Fighter to have a subclass that's all about doing more damage. No fancy maneuvers or spells. Just big numbers.

Brute fighter would be crazy with the new feat that gives proficiency on death saving throws. You would be very hard to kill if you get to your turn, because the odds of you rolling a 20 to get up are super high.

Im currently playing a Raven Queen Warlock, and have used the Raven to Derail the DMs subplot plans 3 separate times, the first and most impressive one was a Cave in a forest, full of Goblins under the Leadership of a Mutant/Mutated Goblin and their Magical buddy, who had gotten their hands on Siege equipment, a bunch of high quality weapons, and 3 whole Crates of Dynamites. By which the Leader and several of the seige wepons were. I (out of character) know how Dynamite works, and luckily We have someone in the party (in character) who would know that, so upon relaying the find, The Raven (who's gotten that far into the cave because, it a bird, in a forest) gets told how to set of one of the sticks, which then sets off the crates. No more Goblin Seige subplot : ) We know now if were about to ruin a plotpoint if the Bird gets killed off while I'm using it creatively : P The Bird went through a dozen sessions before I gave it a name too, at first because i forgot, then it became a Meme that i refused to call it anything relating to Edger Alan Poe, so it remained nameless, then I decided to ve funny, the Birds name... Is Byrd

Same here, it's my favorite style of Druid since 2E. Play a small race, ride on a medium companion and 5E optional Druid spells allow for the Enlarge spell. So at tenth level you're potentially riding a huge beast. In 2E it was a Ranger: Beast master. Essentially a cavalier. In 3E it was a Druid/Wizard with a "companion familiar". Wizard levels were required for alteration spells to affect your companion.

Hey bro. Good video! My only advice is that (with the release of the new books) the more you cling to only using the decade old rules... the more you risk your videos being obsolete at many tables. Telling us Spiritual Weapon doesn't use concentration is fine... until newbies get to their table and find out you're wrong at their table. Know what I mean? You just might want to reference the current rules/spells when you talk about the old stuff that's been changed.

The Raven Queen technically isn't confined to only the Shadowfell she does have a place at the edge of the Feywilds. But her Warlock does sound interesting. Anyhow I unfortunately don't have a group to play with:( But I have created 12 different lvl 1 characters in case I found a group:) 1 of which is: A Chaotic Neutral Feylost background Female Drow Death Domain Cleric sworn to the Raven Queen!

I've been checking out some of the UA classes and they are pretty neat. One of the sites I go to have a section for all the UA released including the Mystic class. A lot of them have been eventually printed in official things but its a shame that a few of the more interesting ones didn't make it. Nobel Genie Warlock, Favored Soul Sorcerer, College of Satire Bard, and Unity Domain Cleric are all interesting and different enough to make it in the game. Also that site has a lot of neat Homebrew sub-classes. Some are OP, most are strong but balanced.

A Raven Queen warlock is The Crow. Add a revenant or reborn lineage and its even moreso. It was left in the dust because they just didn't want to get sued for being too edgy. Speaking of being edgy, anyone getting into Grim Hollow should also swing by the 'Mists of Akuma' kickstarter. Mists is a dark Eastern-inspired steampunk setting that is post-war and beset by horrendous mists that transforms people into monsters. Its made by Mike Myler of EN World, Hypercorps 2099, and several indie ttrpg companies.

My last campaign i played a brute fighter warforged with a weapon of warning and the alert feat. Literally always on guard even during rests, cant be surprised and +10 and advantage to initiative. Always go first, always doing extra damage, it was unintentionally pretty damn broken lol.

2024 Dwarf Stone Sorcerer. Not only do you get an additional HP per level on top of the class HP buff, meaning if you buff Con as is encouraged by the AC equation and grab the Tough feat, you can basically be a sorcerer with the HP of a barbarian, but you also have Tremorsense. What more could you want for an Earthbender?

In a game I'm playing, my dm is allowing me to play a brute fighter and it has been a ton of fun adding that extra damage die, and next level is 7. He also lets us use guns and it was fun using that extra die on a crit with a musket (although I mostly use a war hammer).

The Brawler Fighter from the PHB24 playtest got scrapped. And sure the Mystic from before. Hope we get addition tweaks to existing sub classes like Gem dragon elemental affinities for Draconic sorcerer and get an original Draconic Warlock pact like what the Dungeon Dudes suggested. Having a dragon deity or known mighty chromatic, gem or metallic patron
