Kweku 7123 that's a great example of how many Americans aren't well educated on culture beyond their own backyard. If the social media doesn't say it, than it never happened. But I think one very important factor to remember is that in the US many are pushing a agenda that it's shameful to be white, our colleges are pushing this agenda and I feel public schools as well. I do think we need more unity and cultural awareness, but this comes with education. As you pointed out with your example of the Irish, no blacks or dogs. Many have given up on humanity. It's very sad to be honest, I'm American and alway will be, however; I pride myself on being educated and cultured. This is also how I raise my son.

@@crate249 So if a person was muslim and they got offended that someone dressed up with clothing from their culture and they were offended, how would you respond?
@MadisonScott_3 жыл бұрын
@@crate249 I disagree. I am not Japanese, but I am an African/Jamaican American (mixed). In the Nigerian culture, we see a lot of cultural dresses, with tons of patterns and many different colors. Imagine, a white child (this is an example), who by the way is not at all African, dresses up in one of them for fun, how am I going to feel? These patterns have different symbolic messages, and so many years of oppression and work, and represents my culture, and she is wearing it. Like, if she thinks it’s cute, you know, that’s okay, like I’m happy she likes it, but when she steps out of her place, dressing up in a COSTUME, when this is something so culturally important to me and my family, think about how that makes me feel? You might be comfortable with different people wearing geishas, but I don’t think it is considered sharing the culture. Sharing the culture, you know, for example food. We have all eaten food from another ethnicity if that makes sense, but sharing culture apparently now includes clothing? Even if the girl knew the background of these symbolic dresses in my culture, you think that’s supposed to make me feel better? She knows it’s history, yet still decided to wear it for Halloween. And I’m not just speaking about Halloween, in fact, this should be taken in general. We see white people wearing head scarfs/hats of other cultures. How can somebody be okay with cultural appropriation. I know you are entitled to your own opinion, but look at it from another Japanese person’s perspective. If you go on google right now, and search up African Dress, the first thing that pops up is SHEIN, with a white person wearing what is supposedly, an African dress. Now, this isn’t even close to sharing culture. That is somebody remaking it, and naming it “SHEIN Tribal & Striped Print Coat & Pants Set”. Like, I understand where you’re coming from, you see people wearing geishas, and look at it like, they like the clothing, so it’s not a big deal if they want to wear it. Well, pretty much, just be more considerate, because you may think it is not a big deal, but always try to see it from another perspective. Cultural appropriation is real, and I feel like more people need to see it.

Yeah. Now I don’t want to compare cultures but if we do then if we count the greek culture alone meaning Ancient athens and the creation of democracy if we count the spartan city-state and their ideology if we count the ancient Greeks philosophy, the great greek empires like the Macedonian empire and Alexander the Great, the peloponesian and Persian wars and the greek poems and rhapsodies in the later years we have the Byzantine empire and so so much more and that’s just one country. We have the romans, the bavarians, the vikings, then we have medieval history and the renaissance so who can tell us that we don’t have culture while we clearly have an enormous culture

We always do when it comes to races.. it is not because of the video, but we live like that. Our ancestors made huge disgusting mistakes but not us however we still have to be shamed by them. If we say something against a person in color it’s already racist, ignorant or mean but we have to take the jokes and insults. I love people not colors or hairstyles. If I have a problem with you it’s your actions and behavior not your skin tone, vica versa. :D

Actually, I prefer this group to people who are well versed in the topic of race. People who get faced with a question they haven't formed a strong rationale on have gut reactions that they never had to justify before, but now they do. They are more representative to how the average person views their race in relation to others on a day to day, where they have strong feelings towards something, but they haven't thought about it long enough to say why they feel a type of way.
@MaxineShaw_845 жыл бұрын
@@3Demon100 That is true. However, I did just simply mean I want to hear from more articulate people. Smarter was too broad, my fault. You don't have to be knowledgeable on a subject in order to communicate your initial thoughts effectively. Hell, the direction of their feet told us their initial opinions without a word. I feel you though - they were candid. Also, I wonder why they didn't ask people to elaborate when they changed their positions after hearing from others. Isn't that the real discussion? I heard you and actually considered your view.

@Nathan Magnus And yet you open an American History Text book and you read how great White people and how they built this country. Made up history by the victors. The Pilgrims were good people. They had a nice dinner with the indigenous people. White people brought workers from Africa who were very happy to work for free. Mexicans gave up their land because, why not? After all it was god's will that White people expand to the West. And after all, god is White. Don't you see how cute blonde blue-eyes Jesus from the Middle East looks? Cry me a river.
