Joel Miller that question stood out to me. But at the same time that guys response really puts into perspective that living black carries some level of achievement. It’s almost like saying you have achieved what you have IN SPITE of some level of systemic oppression. Like saying I’m a Neurosurgeon is an achievement ... but saying I’m an African American NeuroSurgeon just hits differently bc it implies I have achieved what I have achieved with the wind against me, not on my back. And in that, having understood that reality (which is more condemning of our society than it is any individual), we as black ppl will always have commonality and some level of respect for one another bc we are proud of who we have become in the face of these struggles. So really, that white guys statement in the previous video... I felt that. I felt that bc I get it and I think he gets it.

I'd say it's a few things. 1.The fact that you don't just immediately relate to someone because their white, there really isn't much in common cause there's a lot of different cultures that are considered white who have nothing in common. On the other hand, most black people have at least one or two things they can immediately find in common because of their culture, also, most black people are usually hype af. 2. The fact that they have to watch what they say, they are privileged and their every move is being monitored. Is it fair? Of course not. They're paying for the sins of their ancestors and all the other racists who are white. Yes, they are profiled for being white the same way black people are profiled.

Although i think they would honestly blame a lot of the destruction on "The white man" which....they wouldnt be wrong, but i would love to see how they will/want to go about changing the dysfunction within black america. would also love jubilwe to do a video like this on actual African americans who are not africans of slave descendents
@sadore6258
@sadore6258 5 жыл бұрын
Jessey Boe first of their isn’t a descent of Africa in America that wasn’t a slave unless they came to America after slavery which yes there are some but the VAST majority are descendants of slavery. Secondly, I do agree the questions could have been better however they played in the stereotypical question to see how like minded which was the point of the video. Thirdly, you want A to think more “deeply “ and the “hive” mentally is in poor taste bc you are implying that AAs are not deep intellectual thinkers. Yes, many struggles of ALL problems in the US stem from Europeans hierarchical complex of color and wealth so I’m confused. You even know that to be true. What exactly are you saying???

I noticed too. I think it's very much about guilt. Entering a racial conversation as a white person, one carries a horrible history of discrimination (to say the least) imposed by their race - no wonder they cannot be cheerful and proud. White people before them have historically been "too" proud. A black person, on the other hand, is essentially viewing their racial history as one of overcoming victimhood - that is a past to be proud about. I think the different vibe of the videos absolutely makes sense, and I also find the production likely had the same in mind when crafting the questions/

With the whole dread thing I want to point something out. I'm white, I can wear 'dreadlocks'. In my culture, I'm Norwegian, they were popular. I greq up surrounded by specific Norwegian culture in my family, like my dads strongly religious and all.. Now I wouldn't wear my hair like that just to claim a culture or to say 'yah but my ancestors did too technically' it'snot about any of that. I would wear my heair that way to APPRECIATE the culture of it. I'm growing my hair out so that I have the ability to do it because I've never been able to. Point is, there's a difference between appropriation and appreciation. And with that, you need to unsderstand what culture you're appreciating.

@EJHRB
@EJHRB 6 жыл бұрын
It has its history. If I'm not mistaken, black people were only allowed to own chickens... so fried chicken was a very popular thing in black culture. This is where it originates from. And white people kept targeting black people as these people obsessed with fried chicken. My source is a Netflix "Ugly Delicious" episode on the origins of fried chicken.

Because they're trying to avoind wrong questions waaay to hard. They're making a joke out of this video because the woke crowd would be eating them alive if the questions were serious. And lo and behold, the woke crowd is eating them anyway. It's almost like whenever you make content about black people, you will inevitably end up at the mercy of the wokes. And if you don't make such content, you're racist because you don't. In woke mentality, you're racist no matter what, so that's why the subject is being treated as a joke.

People just generalize. My mother will tell anyone I don't like fried chicken, I will eat baked or roasted breast only. I've never liked watermelon my mom eats it. She tried to push it on me, but it's like celery to watery tasting. Which I hate. I've noticed that whites and Philippinos, and Cambodians love fried chicken way more then Black folks. But the stereotype is only attached to Black People. Like watermelon, white people and Asians love it. Especially down south whites. Southerners eat black southern cuisine more than Black folks. Just like a lot of blacks love Chinese food. Chinese restaurants are on every corner just like liquor stores in the hood.

@@vibelandmedia Are dreads really cultural though? I have dreads and it's not because I tried to have them, as a 100% black person that's just how my hair grows if I don't touch it. It's safe to assume that at the root, dreads were just a natural thing that then became cultural and even somewhat religious to some, and there are more black people with dread than any other group because it just fits naturally. I have yet to see another ethnicity or race that can have dreads without intentionally creating them. This may explain why it is turned into a racial subject. That's how it appears to me, and that's also why I don't really care who wears them. It grows on our heads naturally as black people but it wasn't a choice. It doesn't do it for others and it wasn't a choice either. It is very much a racial subject in my opinion if you look at it in depth, but it is in no way racist. Culture can be shaped and changed, something that is the result of genetics cannot be attributed to culture. All people who are fully black or even mixed with black to a certain extent can have dreads in some form naturally, whether it is a part of their culture or not.
