I firmly believe in N/P/K and Lime using fertilizer will potentially cause your PH to acidify. The one supplement I do believe in is Hydratain used in late May/June to help out the grass in July and August

Your lawn looks amazing! Good job. The change up in my lawn came when I started using Flagship and RGS. The growth and greecoloring is amazing. My St Aug is like a thick carpet. Its amazing. Going to do that magic combo again in about a month. Love your vids and learning along with u.

Hey, Mr. Ferguson - well said and well explained. The soil is the foundation of a great lawn. Or, as I like to say, the soil is the house in which the grass lives. Soil Test is the foundation, as far as I am concerned. I am a long time DIYer and now have a Lawn Care Services company. Ryan and Pete are really good examples of awesome dudes. And your lawn looks amazing. But I am really glad that you said that the Bio-Stimulants make the soil healthy. And that you said that we need to get a soil test down. I’m glad you brought up the topic of bio stimulants. I watch a lot of folks here on KZbin. I feel like the people that say it doesn’t work really don’t state there case very well. I wanna know why these folks say it doesn’t. But I know one of these folks used them in years past in there videos. Also I didn’t use them in 2022 and I had areas struggle that didn’t struggle when I used them on a regular basis in 2021.

Yea sir, it can be confusing honestly. Some promote them for money, some bc they believe it helps. I guess the nay sayers either want attention, know the science, or just tying to stand out? Not sure. To each their own, but I do believe they can help the soil. Just not something you MUST have.

Better lawns thru Chemistry. Thanks very informative. I concur that soil testing is good to determine what you need. So how many times a year (and when) do you soil test your yard?

Good question. I think before Spring arrives is great to see what you are working with, as well as ph levels. This way you can add lime if needed. Honestly the more you test the better you can see what your apps are doing.

Do you think humic acid and RGS will help improve soil from new house construction? And will it help fix, over time, dry spots throughout the summer?

Yes. The humic will help to loosen the soil over time to where you notice it darken up, and it won’t be as hard. It unlocks the nutrients for the plants to use as well. I’ve used it several years and feel it’s not absolutely necessary for a nice lawn, but does help it for sure.
