I'm always blown away by the price of good brakes, a set of brembos or stop-techs usually cost more than a brand new engine

Enjoyed the video. I recommend turning down the music a bit more when there's a voice over.

There's a lot of misconception regarding brakes, people think better brakes make a car brake harder. What they do is they bite hard faster at the start of braking and maintain their performance for longer. Downhill driving, high speed road sections and,of course, race tracks, are what put the brakes to the real test. If you want harder braking get better tires, if your brakes overheat get better brakes.

So many pistons, I'm wondering if changing the booster or other ancillaries might make more of the improved potential of the big brakes. I believe more pistons in the brakes might need higher pressure with stock lines to achieve the same clamping force. Bigger hard lines? Thanks for the vids.

I picked up a K sport 8pot and 356mm calipers and braided lines. as noted day to day driving your brembos will match em but these 356mm kits save your ass when you mat that floor pedal! they really do scrub the speed off
@grocerygiter60618 жыл бұрын
I have these exact brakes on my R32, company called Aesthetic Life Motorsports. High speed braking is greatly improved. It's weird, same kit, I mean exactly the same. They just have a different logo CNC milled into them. $4500.00 USD for 6 and 8 piston shipped to the states. Cant beat it.

I know it's a old video now, but it just looked like you were at the limit of the tyres so abs was kicking in. Some better tyres with more grip and you will stop sooner. This way it will be full braking instead of plused braking be the abs. Awesome brakes.
@bigfich1238 жыл бұрын
Could an imbalance in the brake bias or an inadequate bmc play a factor in this?
@illpaynefx6 жыл бұрын
What did you guys do for front brake ducts? Not much space in the front to channel air to the center of the rotor. Curious to see if you left it alone actually did something.
@MotiveVideo6 жыл бұрын
They have factory brake ducts
@foodley1238 жыл бұрын
I'd almost bet that your brake bias is not correct now which is causing the car not to stop in the same distance as the factory setup unless that brake kit has exactly the same internal vol as the nissan / brembo item. This is why when doing the R33 or R34 swap on a R32 you change the master cylinder also.

Custom 3.5-inhc dump pipe and then Force Cat back 3.5 inch. Off the shelf item. Obviously screamer pipe to atmosphere gives it that sounds on full noise and also the 6Boost manifold plays a big part in the note

So the other side of this is, You don't need to upgrade your brakes on your daily shopping trolley if you use the right compound. on A track based car yes, the upside from more un-sprung weight is a much more consistent braking. Makes you wonder how in-effective or worse, some of the brake upgrade setups. That are on street driven cars.
@MotiveVideo8 жыл бұрын
Correct. The R33 GR-R Brembos on the car were great ( rears are still on) Its only the high speed work they made us want to upgrade. Below 60km/h the available grip of the tyre means there isnt much difference

There is one big factor you're leaving out... your tires are the BIG thing that change stopping distance, what were you using last time for tires when you did this test.
@MotiveVideo8 жыл бұрын
Did you watch the video? We used same brand and size, which we mentioned. We also acknowledge that a surface can change each day and even time of day so its as accurate as we can make out without a laboratory.
@MidShipCivic8 жыл бұрын
***** You didn't say anything about tires... you said ''setup'' which could mean anything. Seriously the tires can make a day and nigh difference in stopping just by going to a competition tire or extreme performance class.
@alycestapleton8 жыл бұрын
lol like Andrew said did you watch the video mate ???? please tyres are just a part of it the rotors and brakes them self do almost all of the effort required to stop a vehicle ,the tyres are really mostly for grip and the brake fulid also makes a very big difference in how the car stops do some research great video tho sweet as brake kit luck but I've gone with a more stock brake kit from a Porsche with dog bones ,lines ,rotors two piece to match my application cost about 1200 plus shipping ,also why isn't this product made in Oz ??? should be i think .,still cheap for what you get in the kit
@AndrewEG8 жыл бұрын
+Gaz Girl tyres will determine the amount of maximum braking force you can apply without wheel lock up. Both factory and aftermarket brakes will be able to lock up the wheels as the braking force will typically exceed the tyre tractive force. All larger brake rotors do is allow for more energy absorbion reducing the risk of brake fade.
@MidShipCivic8 жыл бұрын
Gaz Girl Are you another one of those tards from the other video? ... What do you mean '' please tires'' it's the tires doing the major part of the work. Rotors and calipers are nothing with out the tire, don't get me started on fluid volumes and the factory master cylinder, all he's done was just a simple bolt on so, simply asking about tires is a legitimate question ... you don't just go saying '' please'' which, by way clearly denotes you really don't know what you're saying. *Brake fluid ? You can use the most basic brake fluid and it won't change the distance in a test only going around a race track.*
@1MRCyprus8 жыл бұрын
try braking without changing the gears or pot it in neutral amd brake
@vongdong108 жыл бұрын
Why?
@1MRCyprus8 жыл бұрын
+A Vong because you save the clutch from changing the gears while breaking and it's cheaper to change the brake pads then it's cost more to change the clutch
@vongdong108 жыл бұрын
***** That's not how you normally drive whether it be racing or on the street though so no point.
@MotiveVideo8 жыл бұрын
If your on the track or driving hard on the street you would use gears to slow down Granted when driving in traffic and slowing down to traffic lights you go to neutral, but wouldn't be a good brake test if we just casually slowed down 20 times We're trying to brake hard so we drive the way we do when we drive hard.
@amduser868 жыл бұрын
in an fr layout car, that is not always true, because pretty fast to change a clutch and oem clutches are not that expensive.
@Jolinator8 жыл бұрын
Still no proper dust boots like some of the Ap racing calipers, so more track orientated to take more heat than street based calipers with dust boots. I would still go F40 brembos over these for a street car
